Bengal wins two prestigious awards for electrification
West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has won two awards at the prestigious IPPAI Power Awards held on October 28.
The State Government-owned enterprise has been adjudged the winner in the categories of ‘Utility Achieving Electrification of Un-electrified Households’ and ‘Innovation’.
In the latter category, WBSEDCL was adjudged the best performer for the project, ‘Innovation in Energy Storage Through Hydro Storage’.
The awards are recognition of WBSEDCL’s endeavor to provide 24×7 quality power and better services to its over 1.78 crore consumers.
It may be mentioned that State Power Department has performed exceptionally well in rural electrification. Through the scheme, Sabar Ghare Alo, Bengal has become the first state to complete rural electrification work, for which it has already earned national acclaim.

সেরার শিরোপার পালক রাজ্য বিদ্যুৎ পর্ষদের মুকুটে
২৮শে অক্টোবর অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়া ‘আইপিপিএআই পাওয়ার অ্যাওয়ার্ডস’ অনুষ্ঠানে ২টি পুরস্কার পেল রাজ্য বিদ্যুৎ পর্ষদ।
রাজ্য সরকারের অধীনস্থ এই সংস্থাটি ‘ইউটিলিটি অ্যাচিভিং ইলেক্ট্রিফিকেশন অফ আন-ইলেক্ট্রিফায়েড হাউসহোল্ডস’ ও ‘ইনোভেশন’ বিভাগে সেরার শিরোপা জিতে নেয়।
‘ইনোভেশন’ বিভাগে ‘ইনোভেশন ইন এনার্জি স্টোরেজ থ্রু হাইড্রো স্টোরেজ’ প্রকল্পের জন্য সেরার শিরোপা পায় বিদ্যুৎ পর্ষদ। ১.৭৮কোটি গ্রাহককে ২৪X৭ নিরবচ্ছিন্ন বিদ্যুৎ যোগান দেওয়ার স্বীকৃতি স্বরূপ এই পুরস্কার।
প্রসঙ্গত, গ্রামাঞ্চলে বিদ্যুৎ পৌঁছে দিতে ক্ষমতায় এসেই উদ্যোগী হয় তৃণমূল সরকার। ‘সবার ঘরে আলো’ প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে অসাধারণ সাফল্যের সঙ্গে রাজ্য বিদ্যুৎ পর্ষদ কাজ করেছে। এর জন্য বিদ্যুৎ পর্ষদ পেয়েছে জাতীয় স্বীকৃতিও।
