6th Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival to be inaugurated on Christmas eve

The 6th edition of the week-long Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival will have a ‘Feluda package’ aimed at commemorating the 50th anniversary of Satyajit Ray’s creation Feluda, the sleuth who solved numerous mysteries with his wit and courage.
Organised by the state Shishu Kishore Academy of the state government, the festival, which will begin on 24 January and continue till 31 December, has science fiction as it’s theme and will screen films like Terminator series, Star Wars, The Martian, ET: Extra Terrestrial, and Despicable Me among others.
An exhibition on ‘The Magical World of Science Fiction Films’ will also be held at Gaganendra Pradarshanshala. Festival’s executive director and MP Arpita Ghosh said world cinema, short films, documentaries and animations will also be showcased.
Not will all the films made so far featuring Feluda will be screened, there will also be seminars and interactive sessions that will see film maker Sandip Ray, son of Satyajit Ray whose film Double Feluda will be the inaugural one, participating. As many as 200 films from 33 countries will be shown in the festival. It will also showcase about 20 Indian children’ films, said Arpita Ghosh..
One interesting feature of this year’s festival is that there will be a separate adda zone for children where they can just enjoy themselves, singing, dancing, eating or just chatting among themselves. There will also be a workshop where children could have a small initiation into disciplines like editing, photography.
