Kolkata Police gears up for smooth traffic during Durga Puja
The Kolkata Police has decided to deploy additional policemen to control the crowd and ensure smooth traffic movement before, during and after Durga Puja, from Chaturthi onwards.
Parking arrangements have been made at 40 places all over the city, near the major puja pandals. App cabs like Ola and Uber would also be available at these parking spots.
All senior police officers will be on duty. Around 10,000 police personnel would be on duty during the four days of Durga Puja. Kolkata would be covered with a security blanket consisting of 346 police pickets, 13 quick response teams (QRT), 24 HRF towers, six mobile police assistance vans and 74 CCTV cameras.
Fifteen more CCTV cameras have been installed at the immersion ghats. Metro stations would also be under enhanced CCTV surveillance.
As many as 1,280 ambulances would be positioned at various points, including major puja pandals, as would be 10 generator vans at different pandals.
Children getting lost in crowds during big occasions like Durga Puja is nothing new. Like earlier years, this year too, Kolkata Police, in collaboration with the State Government’s Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare and some NGOs would together run the project ‘Bondhu Kolkata’ from September 26 to 30. The project consists of a helpline – 9002999999 – as well as eight rescue vehicles marked ‘Bondhu Kolkata’. In addition, two vehicles will remain stationed at the Mudiali pandal and at Childline centres.

Officials deployed under the initiative would work in tandem with volunteers towards ensuring the tracing and early restoration of missing persons in the crowded streets of Kolkata during the Puja days, with special emphasis on women, children and senior citizens.

দুর্গা পুজোয় কড়া নিরাপত্তার আয়োজন করেছে কলকাতা পুলিশ। চতুর্থীর দিন থেকেই শহরের প্রতিটি মণ্ডপে দরশনার্থীদের নিরাপত্তা দিতে তৈরি থাকছে কলকাতা পুলিশ।
পুজো মণ্ডপের আশেপাশে ৪০ টি জায়গায় থাকছে গাড়ি পার্কিং এর ব্যবস্থা। সেখানে নিজেদের গাড়ি রাখার পাশাপাশি ওলা, উবারেরও সুবিধা পাবেন। পার্কিং ঠিকানাও থাকবে এই অ্যাপে।
এবার নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থাও অনেক জোরদার করা হয়েছে। যানজট যাতে না হয় সেইমতো ট্রাফিক ব্যবস্থাও সাজানো হয়েছে। হঠাৎ করে কোথাও কোন অপ্রীতিকর ঘটনা ঘটলে সামাল দিতে প্রস্তুত থাকবে অতিরিক্ত ফোর্স।
পুজোর ৪ দিনে মোট তিনটি পর্যায়ে ১০হাজার পুলিশ কর্মী মোতায়েন থাকছে। পাশাপাশি এবার সিসিটিভির মাধ্যমে বিভিন্ন মেট্রো স্টেশনে নজরদারি রাখা হবে। এছাড়াও শহরে মোট ৩৪৬ টি পিকেট থাকবে।, ১৩ টি কুইক রেসপন্স টিম, ২৪ টি এইচ আর এফ টাওয়ার, ৬ টি মোবাইল পুলিশ অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট ভ্যান ও অতিরিক্ত নিরাপত্তার জন্য ৭৪টি সিসিটিভি বসানো হয়েছে।বিসর্জনের ঘাটে অতিরিক্ত ১৫ টি সিসিটিভি বসানো হয়েছে।শহরের বিভিন্ন পুজো প্যান্ডেল ও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মোড়ে ২৮ টি অ্যাম্বুলেন্স থাকবে, ১০ টি জেনারেটর ভ্যান থাকবে।
কলকাতায় পুজোর ভিড়ে শিশুদের নিখোঁজ হওয়ার ঘটনা নতুন কিছু নয়।তাঁদের অভিভাবকদের হাতে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য শহরময় ঘোরে ‘বন্ধু কলকাতা’র গাড়ি।এই বছরও রাজ্য সরকারের নারী ও শিশুকল্যাণ দপ্তর ও কলকাতা পুলিশের যৌথ উদ্যোগে পুজোর সময় রাস্তায় বের হবে ‘বন্ধু কলকাতা’র আটটি গাড়ি।গাড়ির ভিতর ভর্তি থাকবে চকোলেট, চিপস, কেক, খেলনা। হেল্পলাইন নম্বর – ৯০০২৯৯৯৯৯৯।কলকাতা পুলিশের ‘বন্ধু কলকাতা’র নজর এবার শহরের বৃদ্ধ-বৃদ্ধাদের দিকেও। তাঁদের উদ্ধার করে বাড়ির লোকের হাতে তুলে দিতে তৈরি ‘বন্ধু কলকাতা’।
