The North Bengal Development Department has undertaken the construction of Rajrajeshwari Hall in Kurseong.

The heritage — Rajrajeshwari Hall had been torched during the political unrest in the Hills in 2017.

The Rajrajeshwari Hall under the Bengali Association of Kurseong has a rich history. Rai Bahadur Sashi Bhusan Dey had started a Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Kurseong, in memory of his late son who had died from this disease.

While he was in Kurseong, the local Bengalis approached him for his patronage in constructing a Hall for the Bengali Association to meet. Being a philanthropist, he built the Rajrajeshwari Hall in the name of his wife just below the TB Sanatorium. Thus, it was built in 1930.

Along with this, the department has also taken up the project of constructing a Subash Ghising memorial community Hall in Kurseong.

Bengal CM today visited the Darjeeling Hills after a gap of seven months. During her visit, she attended a function naming Rohini Road after Subash Ghisingh. The CM recounted that Mr Ghisingh had a huge role in the construction of Rohini Road.

The CM said, “I am happy to be back in the Hills after seven months. Earlier I used to visit the Hills every two-three months. Darjeeling is a beautiful place.”

“Peace is prevailing in the Hills now. We have to work together, irrespective of ideological, political, religious or caste differences, for development,” she added.

The Chief Minister assured of all cooperation for the welfare of the people of the Hills and said she wants Darjeeling to keep smiling.

 

 

পাহাড়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী, উদ্বোধন করলেন সুভাষ ঘিসিংয়ের নামাঙ্কিত রাস্তা

 

সাত মাস পর আজ আবার পাহাড়ে পা রাখলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সুভাষ ঘিসিংয়ের নামাঙ্কিত রাস্তা উদ্বোধনের অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন তিনি।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমি এখানে উপস্থিত সকলকে অভিনন্দন জানাচ্ছি। সুভাষ ঘিসিং দার্জিলিঙের জন্য অনেক দিন ধরে কাজ করেছেন, এই রোহিণীর রাস্তা তৈরীতে ওনার অনেক অবদান ছিল। ভালো কাজের জন্য সকলের একসঙ্গে কাজ করা উচিত। আমরা শান্তিপূর্ণ ভাবে কাজ করলে দার্জিলিং আরও উন্নতি করবে।”

তিনি আরও বলেন, “দার্জিলিং আমার রাজ্যের সুন্দর একটি এলাকা। আপনাদের যা চাই, আমরা সেটা দিতে চেষ্টা করব, একসঙ্গে শান্তিপূর্ণ ভাবে সবাই কাজ করলে। ঝগড়া করা, সব ভেঙে টুকরো করা, খুব সহজ কাজ কিন্তু সবাই একসঙ্গে কাজ করা, অনেক বড় ব্যাপার। জাত, ধর্ম, দল, মত, ভাষা নির্বিশেষে আপনারা আজ এখানে উপস্থিত হয়েছেন, ভালো কাজ করার জন্য। সবাই মিলে একসঙ্গে উন্নয়নের কাজ করুন। আমি চাই দার্জিলিং হাসতে থাক।”
