Our MPs held a silent protest in the Central Hall of Parliament against BJP’s casual, calculated disrespect to Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, a towering figure who shaped the soul of this nation.

When the Prime Minister reduces a civilisational giant to “Bankim da,” it is a reflection of a regime that neither understands Bengal’s cultural grammar nor respects its icons.

The ruling establishment at the Centre, that had no role in the freedom movement, feels entitled to trivialise those who ignited it; the same party that vandalised Vidyasagar’s bust, insulted Swamiji, disrespected Kobiguru, now dares to domesticate Rishi Bankim into familiarity.

Some names are not to be uttered casually. Some legacies are not your props. And some insults will be remembered long after this government is not.
