Insulting Bengal’s greatest minds isn’t an accident for the BJP, it is their character, their culture, and their politics.
And yesterday, driven by that same arrogance, Narendra Modi stood inside Parliament and dared to address the literary emperor Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay with the crude, belittling term “Bankim-da.”
But this is nothing new. BJP’s Bangla Birodhi brigade has, time and again, hurled disrespect at our icons: Rabindranath Tagore, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Raja Rammohan Roy, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and countless other towering figures who shaped India’s intellect and identity.
In fierce defiance of this insult, our MPs today registered a silent but unmistakably powerful protest in Parliament’s Central Hall, standing firm with the portraits of our immortal thinkers, a reminder that Bengal will never bow before a party that survives on ignorance and disrespect.
