Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION be pleased to state:

(a) whether Government has been giving subsidy on food to the different States;

(b) if so, the amount of subsidies on food for the year 2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20 till May, 2019; and

(c) the amount of subsidies given to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal during the above periods?

FIRST SUPPLEMENTARY QUESTION

Hon’ble Deputy Chairman Sir, I want to know from the Hon’ble Minister, through you, about the subsidy that the Government has been providing for food in States under different categories:

  1. Decentralised procurement States and direct subsidy benefits to the different States including Uttar Pradesh, and others, through FCI and other agencies.

Sir, it appears from the statement that there is a huge difference of subsidy amount released in the year 2017/18, 2018/19 and 19/20 till May.

My question to the Hon’ble Minister,  including my state West Bengal, it is also varying from 2017-18 to 2018-19 and this current year up to May I am not taking the point. What are the reasons for the difference in allocating subsidies to states in different years?

SECOND SUPPLEMENTARY QUESTION

Sir, my second supplementary. Sir we all know that the state of West Bengal is having the problem of the left wing extremism problem for long years but our government headed by Madam, Mamata Banerjee, has contained it and this left wing extremism has been reduced to the very bottom level. For that reason our state is providing a special package.

Sir, I want to know from the Hon’ble Minister, the state which have the left wing extremism problems and other problems, where the state government is providing the subsidy on the food other than National Food Security Act estimation, what is your stand to the Government of West Bengal in this regard to provide extra subsidies to our state?
