World Bank’s recognition for Bengal’s exemplary work in panchayats
A new feather has recently been added to Bengal’s cap. For the brilliant work that the Panchayat Department has done, the World Bank is giving an additional grant of Rs 426 crore to the State Government. Under the leadership and inspiration of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the tide of development in rural Bengal is admirable.
The World Bank had undertaken a survey, based on 10 issues, across more than 2,000 panchayats of the State. It was as a result of that survey that the World Bank has recommended the reward. Every panchayat will get a reward of Rs 50 lakh or more.
Previously too, the Bengal Government has won rewards for its performance in various areas of governance. For the Kanyashree Scheme, Bengal Government received the first prize in public service from the United Nations.
পঞ্চায়েতে ভাল কাজের জন্য পুরস্কার পাচ্ছে রাজ্য
আবারও পঞ্চায়েতে ভাল কাজের জন্য পুরস্কার পেল রাজ্য। বিশ্বব্যাংকের প্রায় ৪২৬ কোটি টাকার অনুদান পাচ্ছে রাজ্য।রাজ্য সরকারের মুকুটে এ যোগ হল আরো একটি নতুন পালক।
পঞ্চায়েতে কোন রাজ্য কেমন কাজ করছে তা নিয়ে একটি সমীক্ষার আয়োজন করে বিশ্বব্যাংক। প্রায় দশটি বিষয়ের উপর চোখ রেখে এই সমীক্ষা করা হয়। সেখানেই ভাল ফল রাজ্যের।
পঞ্চায়েত ব্যবস্থা আধুনিকীকরণ ও পরিষেবা মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন পঞ্চায়েত দারুণ কাজ করেছে। দু-হাজারেরও বেশি পঞ্চায়েতের উপর এই সমীক্ষা চালানো হয়।প্রতিটি পঞ্চায়েতকে পঞ্চাশ লক্ষ টাকা বা তার বেশি অর্থমূল্যের অনুদান দেওয়া হবে।
২০১১ সালে ক্ষমতায় আসার পর থেকেই পঞ্চায়েত পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে উদ্যোগী হয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। এর আগে কৃষি ও অনলাইন ট্যাক্সিংয়ের ক্ষেত্রে রাজ্যের কাজ গোটা দেশের প্রশংসা আদায় করেছিল।
