WB Govt consults World Bank to integrate EW Metro in Kolkata’s traffic plan
The West Bengal Government, with the help of experts from the World Bank, has initiated the process of integrating the various modes of transport in Kolkata with the alignment of the upcoming East-West Metro stations.
The route rationalisation study would not only facilitate the optimal utilisation of different modes of transport but also make the transit systems in the city complementary.
The public-sector engineering consultancy, RITES is already engaged by the World Bank for a route rationalisation for all public mode of transport in the city. This study would help further in the formulation of the city’s transport policy.

বিশ্ব ব্যাঙ্কের প্রতিনিধিদের সহায়তায় পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাজ্য সরকার পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থার একটি নতুন পরিকাঠামো তৈরির সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। পাশাপাশি ইস্ট-ওয়েস্ট মেট্রোরুট চালু হওয়ার পর পরিবহণ ব্যবস্থার মানচিত্র বদলে যাবে।
মেট্রো থেকে বাস-অটো সঙ্গে জলপথ কে যুক্ত করার প্রক্রিয়া নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে।
বিশ্ব ব্যাঙ্ক ইতিমধ্যেই রাইটস-কে দিয়ে প্রাথমিক সমীক্ষার কাজ শুরু করিয়েছে। যার লক্ষ্য হল শহরে ব্যক্তিগত গাড়ির ব্যবহার কমিয়ে দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ করা।
