WB CM inaugurates the 17th Animal Resources Development Week in Kolkata

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee flagged off the 17th Animal Resources Development Week at Kshudiram Anushilan Kendro.
An excerpt of the Chief Minister`s speech on the occasion:
I welcome all. I am happy with all the progress done by Mother Dairy. Before we took over, Mother Diary was running at a loss. Now, it is a profit making organization.
In the current financial year, huge initiative has been taken to raise livestock. It is necessary to develop the rural economy to make the process of animal husbandry successful. It is necessary to increase the numbers of deep freezers that are being given to those selling chicken. The services should not be limited to Kolkata. These should be expanded to other Municipal areas with urban base.
A number of initiatives for treatment of animals have also been made. Measures are being taken to check the quality of the products. We have the vision to bring in medical insurance for those who practice animal husbandry. The departments under the government should coordinate with each other to support people as much as possible.
We must ensure that the common people do not face problems. We have to work for all classes of people. We need to take our work seriously. We need to do our work in a time-bound manner. This is called vision. This is called mission. People have given us the responsibility of their welfare. We must do it well.
