Wave of development in Howrah

The district of Howrah has seen large-scale development in all sectors.
Highlights of the developmental work:
Health: 1 multi-super speciality hospital in Uluberia, 7 fair-price medicine shops, 13 fair-price diagnostic centres, 9 SNSUs, 2 SNCUs, 3 CCUs, 3 HDUs, 1 Mother and Child Hub at Uluberia Sub-divisional Hospital, new building at Amta Rural Hospital, OPD at Belur State General Hospital; Yoga and Naturopathy College coming up in Belur
School education: In 7.5 years, 164 schools set up, levels of 103 schools upgraded
Scholarships: In 7.5 years, more than 2.23 lakh students under Kanyashree, about 1.93 lakh students under Sikshashree
Higher education: 3 ITIs, 2 polytechnic colleges; State’s first Hindi University coming up in Arupara
Drinking water: Massive Rs 3.600cr-worth waste-to-energy project, in collaboration with a German company, being implemented
Kisan Mandi: 5 Kisan Mandis set up
100 Days’ Work: About 3.06 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19
Housing: More than 1.25 lakh people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing
Mission Nirmal Bangla: Howrah declared Nirmal Zilla, being 100% ODF
Industry: State’s first Single-Window Unique Clearance Centre to simplify mutation and conversion of land for industrial use, 3 industrial estates, 6 industrial parks, 37 MSME clusters (including jewellery cluster and imitation jewellery cluster in Domjur, shuttle cock cluster in Uluberia, zari cluster in Sankrail, optical lens cluster in Munshirhat, embroidery cluster in Pipulan, rubber goods cluster in Raghunathpur), IT park (Domjur); bank loans worth more than Rs 16,000 crore given to MSMEs
Roads & bridges: About 1,390km of roads built/repaired/widened, 1 flyover, 2 bridges in FY 2018-19
Tourism: Tourism project in Garchumuk and surrounding places, tourism circuit based around memorial to Rani Bhabashankari at Garh-Bhabanipur in Udaynarayanpur and house of writer Saratchandra Chattopadhyay at Samtaberh in Bagnan
Samajik Suraksha Yojana: About 5.8 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted
Karmatirtha: 10 Karmatirthas
Sports: 91 multi-gyms, 23 mini indoor stadiums
