Trinamool workers` conference in Kalimpong on 22 January

Trinamool Congress will hold a worker`s conference in Kalimpong on 22 January. Hundreds of people from the Hills with attend the conference. A number of workers from other parties are expected to join Trinamool Congress on this day.
Peace had been restored in the Hills after Mamata Banerjee came to power in 2011. Despite month-long agitation and bandh in Darjeeling last year, WB CM handled the dissent with a two-pronged strategy and countered the agitators both administratively and politically. Recently, Bimal Gurung took the oath of office as the GTA Chief.
The party is on a process of strengthening its strength in the Hills with an eye on the Lok Sabha polls. It already has active cells of YUVA and Yubo Trinamool Congress apart from the Women`s wing, Labour wing and Minority cell in the Hills.
A number of tea garden workers in this region are active members of INTTUC, which is working hard to uphold labour rights alongside playing an active role in reopening the closed tea gardens.
