Purulia district admin gets Skoch Award for Governance 2018

The district of Purulia has been awarded a Skoch Award for Governance for 2018 for its developmental work. The award was accepted by the district magistrate of Purulia on June 21 at the award ceremony in New Delhi.

The Skoch Group has been giving away its annual awards to various Government projects, districts, State Governments and organisations for various aspects of governance. In previous years too, various projects of the Trinamool Congress-run Bengal Government have received these awards.

The district administration of Purulia has received this award for its developmental work in convergence with the 100 Days’ Work Scheme like social forestry, animal husbandry, planting of orchards and rainwater harvesting.

The award has also been given for another aspect of development in Purulia – that related to tourism. With the full support of the State Government, the district administration has taken numerous initiatives to develop the tourism potential of the district. Be it forest tourism, homestays, development of various circuits, conservation of archaeological sites, sightseeing facilities, roads, or any of the various other aspects, Purulia has seen development like never before.

Considered one of the most backward regions of Bengal during the 34-year-long Left Front regime, the district is now at the forefront of development, all thanks to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Government. The Skoch Award is the merely the latest recognition for the hard work put in since 2011 to transform the district.
