On the campaign trail with… Renuka Sinha
Renuka Sinha is Trinamool`s candidate for the Coochbehar Lok Sabha seat. She is an educationist.
Cooch Behar Trinamool Congress Unit took out a massive rally last week in the town to campaign for the party`s Coochbehar parliamentary constituency candidate Renuka Sinha. The rally started at the Station More area and circumnavigated the town.
Trinamool web team joined in to chat with the candidate herself:
What was your first reaction when you came to know about your candidature in Lok Sabha election?
Renuka Di: At first I was shocked after hearing that my name was announced as a Lok Sabha candidate. Then I realized that Mamata di has given me a chance to serve Ma, Mati, Manush of Coochbehar. I will definitely work for the people to solve their problems and to make them smile. I have got a great opportunity to reach out to the people and work for their all round development.
This is the first time Trinamool is fighting alone in Coochbehar for the Lok Sabha election. How confident are you in the 4-way fight?
Renuka Di: Development in this district was very poor during the Left Front regime, but due to the change of power in the state, numerous projects have been initiated in the last two and a half years. 3 out of the 7 MLAs in our district are from Trinamool and our party has done well in the Panchayat polls as well. Many workers from other parties have joined Trinamool. We are confident about our victory.
What are the major issues of Coochbehar that you are highlighting in campaign?
Renuka Di: Our district is lagging behind in education, health, agriculture and
communication. The issue of border enclaves is a matter of great concern for Coochbehar. Another major problem is unemployment; people have to migrate to other states for earning their livelihood. These are the issues of my campaign.
What are your campaign strategies? How are you taking Didi�s messages to the people?
Renuka Di: We are focusing on the major problems of Cooch Behar and informing the people about the development which has taken place during the last two and a half years under our government.
Our organization is very strong. Our leaders were coordinating with every party member and worker. Our Chairperson has instructed us to connect to the common people and spread the news of ongoing development works and also inform them about the evils of past Left government.
With a lot of young voters this time, are you focussing on social media like Facebook for campaign?
Renuka Di: Yes, we are focusing on the social media. Due to the advancement of technology the young generation is logged on to the net. We are in touch with this young generation through Facebook and other channels, and we are getting good response from them.
How has been the response from people?
Renuka Di: People are warm when they meet me; they are sharing their problems. I have assured them if I will win, I will definitely try to solve them.
What is your prediction about the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections?
Renuka Di: We are fully confident that Trinamool will win the match.
