New police station for Rabindra Sarovar
A new police station will be set up for Rabindra Sarovar and its adjoining areas, Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday. “People go for morning walk there … we need a police station,” she said while announcing the government’s decision at Nabanna.
The police station would primarily cover the 7,77,000 sq m lake and the areas surrounding it. The location has not been decided on yet. Thousands of people visit the Sarobar premises every day for morning and evening walks.
With the setting up of Rabindra Sarovar police station, the number of police stations in Kolkata goes up to 70.
রবীন্দ্র সরোবরে নতুন পুলিশ স্টেশন
রবীন্দ্র সরোবর ও তার সংলগ্ন এলাকাগুলির জন্য তৈরি হচ্ছে নতুন পুলিশ স্টেশন। সোমবার নবান্নে একটি সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে একথা ঘোষণা করেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “রবীন্দ্র সরোবর কলকাতার একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জায়গা। এখানে সাধারণ মানুষ রোজ মর্নিং ওয়াক ও ইভিনিং ওয়াকে যান, ওখানে খেলাধুলো হয় তাই সাধারণ মানুষের নিরাপত্তার জন্য রবীন্দ্র সরোবর একটি নতুন থানা হচ্ছে”।
প্রাথমিক ভাবে এই পুলিশ স্টেশনটি লেক ও তার চারপাশ মিলিয়ে প্রায় ৭,৭৭,০০০ স্কোয়ার মিটার জায়গা জুড়ে হবে। তবে থানাটি কোথায় হবে তা এখনও সিদ্ধান্ত হয়নি।
রবীন্দ্র সরোবর থানা নিয়ে কলকাতায় মোট পুলিশ স্টেশনের সংখ্যা ৭০।
