Making Aadhaar mandatory would make the poor, the marginalised the worst sufferers: Mamata Banerjee
Chief Minister Mamata has come down heavily on the Centre’s decision to make Aadhaar mandatory for opening bank accounts and carrying out financial transactions above Rs. 50,000.
In a message on Twitter, she said the gravest consequence of this decision would be the fact that the “poorest of the poor, the marginalised people will be the worst sufferers”.
She further said that since Aadhaar has serious issues about privacy, the Central Government must not make it mandatory for access to any service unless 100 per cent coverage has been achieved.

আধার বাধ্যতামূলক করা হলে গরিব ও প্রান্তিক মানুষরা ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হবেন: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়
আধার কার্ড ব্যাঙ্কিং পরিষেবার জন্য বাধ্যতামূলক করার কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের সিদ্ধান্তের বিরুদ্ধে গর্জে উঠলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।
তিনি আজ টুইটারে লেখেন, “আধার কার্ড বাধ্যতামূলক করার কেন্দ্রের এই হঠকারী সিদ্ধান্তের ফলে সব থেকে বেশী ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হবেন গরীব ও প্রান্তিক মানুষরা। ১০০% মানুষ আধার কার্ড না পাওয়া পর্যন্ত বাধ্যতামূলক করতে পারে না কেন্দ্র।”
তিনি আরও বলেন আধার এর সাথে ব্যক্তি-গোপনীয়তার অনেক সমস্যার এখনো সুরাহা হয়নি।
