Jangalmahal to get pucca roads
The state government will construct pucca roads for each area of Jangalmahal where the population is a hundred people only.
The minister of self-help group and self-employment and MLA of Balrampur in Purulia, Mr Shantiram Mahato, said this is a part of the state government`s programme for developing the Left Wing Extremist (LWE) areas. The roads made of soil in places where around 100 people are living will also be converted into pucca roads. The construction work for the roads will be started shortly in 24 blocks of the Jangalmahal areas.
Mr Mahato said self- help group workers also are making door-to-door visits in Jangalmahal areas to raise awareness about the government schemes.
“The people of Jangalmahal suffered a lot following the LWE movement and Maoists took the opportunity to gain the sympathy of the local people as most of the areas were not developed during the Left Front tenure,“ he said.
He said only 15 per cent people of the Jangalmahal area did not get electricity connection for their residences. Around 10,000 youths were employed for several jobs and more people will be employed in tourism sectors, he said. Mr Mahato added that a large number of tourists would visit Ajodhya Pahar, Jaichandi Pahar and Bagmundi as the state government is concentrating on developing the infrastructure of the local areas.
