Investors congratulate TMC-led Government, seek meeting

Calcutta, May 28: Infosys and several industrialists have touched base with the Mamata Banerjee government, Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee said, adding the administration did not want any conflict between investors and farmers.

Mr. Chatterjee, who also holds the Information Technology portfolio, said Infosys had invited him to its headquarters. Infosys is slated to set up a campus in Rajarhat at an estimated investment of Rs 100 crore.

“I have received an invitation from the Infosys CEO. But because of prior engagements, it will not be possible for me at this moment,” Mr. Chatterjee said.

The Minister said, Gopalakrishnan, Infosys CEO had congratulated him on the Trinamool Congress` victory in the Assembly elections. He also said “requests were coming in from several industrialists for meetings with the Chief Minister”.

He said JSW Group Vice-Chairman had called him up and “sought a meeting”. The Jindals are building a 10 million-tonne steel plant and a 1,600-mega watt power plant in West Midnapore`s Salboni.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had invited Infosys`s Narayana Murthy and Wipro`s Azim Premji to the swearing-in at Raj Bhavan last Friday.
