I will give my blood but not allow conspiracy in the Hills: Mamata Banerjee
Stating that the trouble in the Hills is the handiwork of some hooligans, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said: “I will give my blood, but will not allow anyone to conspire to push Darjeeling into danger.” The state government will bring an end to the hooliganism that is going on in Darjeeling for vested interests of a section of people, she said. She also urged the citizens of the Hills to not listen to the hooligans and throw them out to save the Hills.
While speaking at a felicitation ceremony jointly organised by the Kolkata Police and the West Bengal Police, she said: “There was peace in the Hills. Some hooligans are creating trouble in the Hills. Five years have passed and now some people are carrying out hooliganism.”
“Shops are closed and people have to suffer without any fault of theirs Snatching someone’s livelihood is not politics but hooliganism and we will bring an end to it. We will bring an end to it for the sake of peace in Darjeeling.”
She said that a conspiracy is going on to put Darjeeling in danger but she will not let it happen. There can be no politics of guns or by stopping access to all means of livelihood, she said.
“For the sake of peace, we will surely stop these. We are with the people of the Hills. Those who are creating trouble do not want the good of the Hills – they are destroying Darjeeling. But we will let no harm come to Darjeeling”. She also said, “A plan was hatched to attack the ministers in Darjeeling” during the Cabinet meeting held there, the first in 44 years.

বৃহস্পতিবার আলিপুরে পুলিশের অনুষ্ঠান থেকে মোর্চাকেও কড়া বার্তা দেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এদিন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘পাহাড়ের মানুষ শান্তি চান। কিন্তু কয়েকটা গুন্ডা মিলে গোলমাল করছে। পাহাড়ে গুন্ডামি বরদাস্ত করব না, গুন্ডামি দমন করবই। পাহাড়কে অশান্ত করার ষড়যন্ত্র করা হয়েছে। সেখানকার সাধারণ মানুষকে বিপদে ফেলার চক্রান্ত চলছে। এই গুন্ডামি বরদাস্ত করা হবে না। পাহাড়ে অশান্তি করলেই শক্ত হাতে তা দমন করবে রাজ্য সরকার”।
তিনি আরও বলেন, “আমরা বনধ সমর্থন করি না। যদি কেউ আইন ভাঙে, তবে আইন তার পথে চলবে। পাহাড়ে গুন্ডামি চলছে। আমার মন্ত্রিসভার সদস্যদের ওপর হামলার পরিকল্পনা করা হয়েছিল। টানা দু’ঘণ্টা মলোটোভ ককটেল ছোঁড়া হয়েছিল। চোখের সামনে দেখেছি। মহিলা পুলিসকর্মীদের আক্রমণ করা হয়েছিল। বন্দুক দিয়ে রাজনীতি হয় না, মানুষের রোজগারের পথ বন্ধ করে দিয়ে রাজনীতি হয় না”।
গত বৃহস্পতিবার দার্জিলিঙে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী যখন একটি প্রশাসনিক বৈঠক করছিলেন, সেই সময় মোর্চার তরফে পাহাড়ে প্রথমে বিক্ষোভ এবং পরে হিংসাত্মক ঘটনা ঘটানো হয়। এটা রাজনীতি নয়, গুণ্ডামি, শান্তির স্বার্থে আমরা এসব দমন করবই। আমরা পাহাড়ের মানুষের সাথে আছি, ওরা পাহাড়ের ভালো চায় না। ওরা দার্জিলিং কে ধ্বংস করে দিচ্ছে, দার্জিলিং এর ক্ষতি করার জন্য ষড়যন্ত্র করছে। কিন্তু আমরা দার্জিলিং এর কোন ক্ষতি হতে দেব না।
