CM inaugurates a slew of projects in Baruipur, silver cluster, surgical equipments manufacturing cluster and fire crackers clusters
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee addressed a public meeting at Padmapukur in Baruipur in South 24-Parganas on Friday.

The Chief Minister during a public meeting laid the foundation stone of a fire fighting unit near EM Bypass and Basanti, a fire brigade station at Sonarpur Hindustan Park, shelters for homeless due to the natural calamities in the coastal areas in Basanti and Gopalganj in Kultali. Bridge at Baruipur Road.  `I came to this district quite a number of times within a short span of one and half months. I came to lay foundation stone or inaugurate projects including the women`s university and I have seen the condition you all live here. She also laid the foundation stone of an arsenic-free drinking water plant.

She also expressed her concern over the arsenic water in the district and said that the State government has already initiated the project to make arsenic free drinking water. On her visit to the area in last month the Chief Minister had load the foundation stone of an arsenic-free drinking water plant at Nodakhali (Part-2), the drinking water would be distributed to homes through pipeline after being purified at a plant in Buj Buj. `This is indeed a big success. I have included two blocks to the existing 10-blocks like Kulti, Diamond Harbour 1 & 2, Palta, Jaynagar, Kultali, Mograhat 1, Mandir Bazaar, Mathurapur 1&2 and the two newly included blocks are Buj Buj and Satgachhia`, she added.

The Chief Minister expressed her concern for the hundreds of fishermen in these areas over their safety and security.  `I am concerned about your safety, I am aware how you work against the odds beating the weather to animals. I know the hard life you all have to live. It is sad that nobody in the past took an initiative to know your plight. Many times they get killed or are abducted by neighboring country on security grounds. In the absence of identity card or documents they are unable to prove their innocence. To simplify this West Bengal Government has taken an initiative to issue registration numbers and identity cards to each troller and fishermen respectively.

She said that a silver cluster, surgical equipments manufacturing cluster and fire crackers clusters will come up in the district soon.

The Chief Minister reiterated her commitment to build more fair-price-medicine stores in the district. `Apart from the fair-price-medicine stores, we are going to construct fair-price-diagnostic centres shortly where you can get your pathological tests done at subsidized rates`, said the Chief Minister. She said that five multi-super-speciality-hospitals will be made in the district. `Once these hospitals starts functioning, you will not have to run to various hospitals in Kolkata`, she added.

`We have decided to introduce another Bill in the house, `Kanyashree`, this scheme I propose to include all women irrespective of caste and community`, said the Chief Minister who expressed her concern over the young girls being married off at an early age. `I am concerned about the percentage of school dropouts and getting married off at an early age. Those girls who come from poor socio economic condition will be given a scholarship of Rs. 500 per annum. `The girls studying in classes 8,9,10 and 11 and whose parent`s monthly income is Rs. 50,000 will get a scholarship of Rs. 500 per year.  The SC/ST, OBC and minority community will give the scholarships respectively and the rest will be paid by the Government`. Those student who will not marry until the age of 18 years will be given a onetime compensation of Rs. 25,000 which they can use according to their requirements.
