CM attends Eastern Zonal Council meeting, keeps work ahead of health

The Eastern Zonal Council meeting was held at Town Hall today where Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee, Hon`ble Governor of Jharkhand and representatives of other Eastern states had a meeting presided over by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, who is the Chairman of EZC.
The meeting was held for the first time since 2005.
The Eastern Zonal Council meeting discussed issues related to internal security, especially the Maoist problem, border issues and other pressing needs for the development of the eastern states. Implementation of the Entry Tax is also on the agenda.
The Bengal delegation included finance minister Amit Mitra, minister of planning and development Rachpal Singh, Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra and other departmental secretaries.
The problems of four states – West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha – were discussed in detail during the time.
Mr. Shinde said he was grateful to Banerjee for attending the meeting despite not being well.
