Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee ensures neutrality in administration

Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee today sought to free the administration from the shackles of political control, urging her MLAs and the common people to co-operate with police and let the force and government employees work `independently` and `impartially`.

At the first meeting of the Trinamool Congress Legislature Party, the Chief Minister asked her MLAs `not to take law and order into their hands.

Ms Banerjee has asked the MLAs to report to her `directly` if they found any lapses on the part of the administration. The Chief Minister has already instructed director-general of police to ensure that wrong-doers were arrested `irrespective of their political affiliations`.

The chief minister asked Trinamool legislators not to get involved in the seizure of illegal arms and to `allow the police to do the job` instead. Earlier in the day, she had made the same request to the people as well.

“Restoration of law and order is of paramount importance. So let the police do their job. If you (the people) have any information about stockpiling of arms, please inform the police. But please do not take law into your hands,” the Chief Minister told at Writers’ Building.
