Chief Minister lays down rules for party MLAs, asks Legislators, MPs and Workers to work with humility
May 24, Kolkata: Presiding over a meeting of the newly-elected Trinamool Congress members to the West Bengal Assembly, Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee on Monday asked them to set an example of responsibility by being present for the assembly sessions everyday well ahead of time. “It is her standing instruction that all party legislators, parliamentarians as well as ordinary party workers must work with humility among the common people,” Parliamentary Affairs Minister Partha Chatterjee said later. 
 
The Chief Minister had a familiarization meeting with all the Trinamool members. They are being sworn in as MLAs and this will continue till Thursday. On Monday, 114 legislators including 36 ministers, the chief whip of Trinamool Legislature Party and 77 elected representatives from north Bengal took oath as MLAs. 
 
Trinamool MPs were also present in the Trinamool Legislative Party meeting. It was formally decided at the meeting that Biman Bandyopadhyay would be All India Trinamool Congress` candidate for the post of speaker and Sonali Guha would be their candidate for the post of deputy speaker. A special session of the Assembly would be convened for the election of the speaker and the deputy speaker, Mr. Chatterjee said. 
 
Ms Banerjee thanked the people of the state for keeping their faith on Trinamool`s slogan of Ma-Mati-Manush. The elected representatives adopted a resolution in which they credited Ms Banerjee with the landslide victory. The Chief Minister asked all MLAs to observe the birth anniversary of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in their localities.
