Bengal is lucky that they have their Didi to take care of them
Prasenjit Kundu, a resident of Entally, would be grateful forever to at least one person, the person being none other than Didi.
Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal Chief Minister, was passing by Akashvani Bhavan in the Esplanade area, when she saw the youth lying beside the road and being tended to by passersby, after his motorbike had collided with a taxi.
Didi got down from her car immediately, in spite of her ever-busy schedule, and arranged for the injured man to be sent to SSKM Hospital with the help of her security personnel.
Time and again the city as well as the rest of Bengal has seen the humane side of the Chief Minister.
Primary school students are now being given shoes after Didi, in one of her trips to the districts, saw a few school students trudging to school on bare feet.
Even the bicycles for Sabuj Sathi, which are being distributed to students all over the State, became a reality when Didi was informed that girls and boys had to walk for miles to attend their schools.

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় আজ যখন নেতাজি ইনডোর স্টেডিয়ামের একটি অনুষ্ঠান সেরে ফিরছিলেন তখন আকাশবাণীর কাছে তিনি একজন পথচারীকে আহত অবস্থায় রাস্তায় দেখতে পান।সঙ্গে সঙ্গে গাড়ি থেকে নেমে তিনি সেই আহত প্রসেনজিত কুণ্ডুকে এস এস কে এম হাসপাতালে পাঠানোর সমস্ত রকম বন্দোবস্ত করেন, নিজের দেহরক্ষীদের দিয়ে।
মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের এই মানবিক মুখটি রাজ্যবাসীর কাছে একেবারেই অচেনা নয়।
এর আগে ও জেলা সফরে গিয়ে খালি পায়ে ছেলে মেয়েদের স্কুলে যেতে দেখে তাদের জন্যও নিখরচায় জুতোর ব্যবস্থা করেন তিনি।
এর আগে যখন জানতে পারেন যে দূরত্বের জন্যও ছাত্রছাত্রীরা স্কুলে অনেক মাইল হেঁটে যায় তখন তিনি সকল স্কুল পড়ুয়াদের জন্য সবুজ সাথী সাইকেলের ব্যবস্থা করেন।
