Bengal Govt to upgrade Tourism Dept lodges to three-star category

The Tourism Department has decided to get its tourist lodges upgraded to three-star category. Naturally, the upgrading would entail a major leap in the quality of services as well.
Of the 42 lodges, 32 would be upgraded. The other 10 have been outsourced.
The work for upgrading would be completed in phases. The first phase would run from July 1 to September 30, in which 10 lodges would be upgraded. The remaining 22 would be upgraded in the second phase.
According to an official of the department, all the work for upgrading would be completed before the Puja tourist season.
In the first phase are lodges in the Dooars, Malda, Malbazar, Jaldapara, Behrampore, Bakkhali, Digha and Malancha.
Since coming to power in 2011, the Trinamool Congress Government has taken a host of measures to improve the condition of the tourist lodges all across Bengal. Now, unlike during the Left Front rule, there is regular maintenance and repair work.
To provide better services, the charges have also been raised but still they are much less than private lodges of the same standard, and hence are very popular with tourists both from inside and outside the State.
