Bengal Govt to observe Hool Dibas today

The Mamata Banerjee government will be observing Hool Dibas today to commemorate the fight of Santhals against the British Raj in 1885. The state government holds the state-level Hool Dibas every year.
This year, the programme to observe Hool Dibas will be organised at Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, Birbhum and Kolkata. There will be two programmes in Jhargram and one each at the four other places. Senior ministers will be present at all the venues.
The Backward Classes Welfare minister and minister of state for the Information and Cultural Affairs department will be present in the programme that will be held at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata. The event at Rabindra Sadan will begin at 5 PM.
It may be mentioned that in the past seven years, the Mamata Banerjee government has taken several steps for the benefit of the people from backward classes.
