Voting for CPI(M) will strengthen the BJP: Mamata Banerjee at Baruipur
Trinamool Congress Chairperson addressed a public meeting at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district. It falls under the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency. She urged people not to vote for the CPI(M), saying that every vote for CPI(M) will only strengthen the BJP.
Highlights of her speech:
They (BJP) have an understanding with the CPI(M) in Jadavpur. They helped the Congress candidates in Baharampur and Jangipur. Every vote for the CPI(M) will strengthen the BJP.
Polling is under way in many places today. Since morning, the central forces have created a lot of trouble, beating up and coercing voters. Law and order is a state subject but they have tried to take control of it.
They must definitely do what they are supposed to according to the EC stipulations, but law and order is not their area. They have illegally beaten up men and women. Even journalists were not spared. The Narendra Modi govt is thinking that they can control the voters with these central forces.
The BJP has looted people’s money in the last five years and they are spending spending it in these elections.
The BJP is changing everything that we knew as sacrosanct. The banking system, central agencies, history, geography, even the constitution is being altered by them.
Why should the BJP get any votes? What work has its govt done for the last five years? He comes and says what development has taken place in Bangal? Is he blind? There are so many areas where improvements have taken place.
Baruipur used to be a hunting ground for the CPM harmads. They used to obstruct anything we used to do, killing and torturing our workers. There were several incidents which I myself have witnessed.
Modi and Shah are full of untruths. They are twisting and manipulating everything to their own advantage with no regard to ethics.
They have even taken over the media. Even the national channels can’t say anything against Modi.
On what grounds does Modi say that Durga Puja is not allowed in Bangla? Saraswati Puja, Kali Puja, all the festivals of all religions are held with equal fervour here. Then why is he spreading untruths?
He is trying to impose their slogans on us. But we know the true national slogans that have given us freedom and led the country.
We do politics for development, but he does it for destruction. Notebandi, unemployment, stagnation, distrust are all his champion causes that have brought about misery and unhappiness for the people of the country.
