The Trinamool Congress Government has done a lot of developmental work in Hooghly, making it one of the most developed districts of the Bangla.

Highlights of the developmental work:

Health: 2 multi-super speciality hospitals, 6 fair-price medicine shops, CT scan unit and digital X-Ray service at Hooghly Zilla Sadar Hospital, dialysis units at Hooghly Zilla Sadar Hospital and Arambagh Sub-divisional Hospital, Trauma Care Centre in Singur, 17 SNSUs, 3 SNCUs, 2 CCUs, 2 HDUs, 5 urban primary healthcare centres in Hooghly town (24 other modernised), blood component separation unit at Hooghly Zilla Sadar Hospital, 2 Nutrition Rehabilitation Centres (NRC) at Arambagh Sub-divisional Hospital and Pandua Rural Hospital, blood preservation centres at 6 rural hospitals; medical college coming up in Arambagh, construction of Khanakul Rural Hospital and Uttarpara State General Hospital completed

School education: In 7.5 years, 261 schools set up, levels of 199 schools upgraded

Scholarships: In 7.5 years, more than 3.97 lakh students under Kanyashree, more than 4.59 lakh students under Sikshashree

Higher education: 1 government degree college, 3 ITIs, 1 polytechnic college; Rani Rashmoni Green University coming up in Tarakeswar

Farming: 126 Custom Hiring Centres for affordable hiring of implements and machines for 1.2 lakh farmers

Kisan Mandi: 11 Kisan Mandis set up

100 Days’ Work: About 13.64 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19

Housing: More than 181,000 people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing

Mission Nirmal Bangla: Hooghly declared Nirmal Zilla, being 100% ODF

Industry: Alo Hub in Chandannagar and Silk Hub in Sreerampur coming up, 21 MSME clusters (including 7 handloom clusters, plastic goods cluster in Guptipara, chikankari and embroidery cluster in Babnan, imitation jewellery cluster in Singur, brass utensils cluster in Goghat); bank loans worth more than Rs 5,960 crore given to MSMEs

Roads & bridges: About 1,060km of roads built/repaired/widened, 3 bridges in FY 2018-19

Tourism: Dining hall at Ramakrishna Math, Kamarpukur, renovation of Hansheswari Temple and Ghazi Zafar Khan Dargah, tourist cottages at Antpur, musafirphanat at Furfura Sharif; lot of developmental work done by Tarakeswar Development Authority and Furfura Sharif Development Authority; eco-tourism project in Sabujdweep, Balagarh, beautification of the strand in Chandannagar, renovation of Ram Mohun Roy’s birthplace, new tourist centre at Bagdanga-Chinamore, Singur, and renovation of Jagannath Temple, Jagannath Ghat, Radhaballav Mandir and Masir Bari in Mahesh, taken up

Samajik Suraksha Yojana: About 5.09 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted

Sports: 60 multi-gyms, 16 mini indoor stadiums, 3 playing fields
