Bengal Govt hikes upper limit of intra-State e-way bills to Rs 1 lakh

The State Government has increased the upper limit of e-way bills for intra-State movement of good to Rs 1 lakh. The goods, however, should not pass through any other State. The existing limit was Rs 50,000.
The notification in this regard was issued by the Commissioner of State Tax, Bengal on July 12 and the rule will be effective from that date too. The announcement was mde by the Finance and Industry Minister Dr Amit Mitra. The limit has been raised keeping in mind the interest of the State’s small traders, informed Dr Mitra.
As an ameliorating measure, goods being sent to job-workers will be exempted from the generation of such bills. According to the notification, the exemption is for cases ‘where such goods are being sent to a job-worker for job work’ or ‘are being sent from one job-worker to another job-worker or are being returned to the principal after such job work, and where such transportation is not for final delivery of the finished goods.’
