Bengal Govt to construct trekkers’ huts in Sandakphu, Phalut, Tingling

As a further boost to tourism in Bengal, the State Tourism Department has decided to construct trekkers’ huts in Sandakphu, Phalut and Tingling.
Sandakphu is the highest peak in Bengal, and is a popular trekking destination. Phalut is part of the popular trekking route to Sandakphu. Tingling is also along popular trekking routes and has a tea estate and a popular viewing point as well.
Other tourism infrastructures coming up in that region include a tourist bungalow at Tiger Hill.
The trekkers’ huts would be made of wood and bamboo from the surrounding jungles. According to senior official of the Tourism Department, architects have completed field visits and a detailed project report is being prepared.
With the construction of the trekkers’ huts, more people would be able to undertake treks to those places as staying during or after a trek would not be a problem any more.
