Election Commission of India itself has now exposed the falsehood behind BJP’s claim that CRORES of Rohingyas are living in Bengal. That lie has collapsed, but the damage has already been done. Fear was deliberately manufactured, and many innocent lives were lost to that fear. If there has been any illegal infiltration anywhere in the country, the responsibility lies squarely with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah. From terror attacks to security failures, when ordinary citizens lose their lives, accountability cannot be passed on. It rests with the Home Ministry alone. This climate of fear was then weaponised to brand Bengalis as “Bangladeshis” in BJP-ruled states. People were harassed, assaulted, and even pushed back across borders. The Supreme Court had to intervene to bring back a pregnant Sonali Khatun to her own country. Is this what a civilised democracy looks like? We stand firmly with every citizen.
