Despite fierce and reasoned opposition, BJP steamrolled the VB-G RAM G Bill through the Lok Sabha, abusing its brute numerical majority and trampling every democratic norm in the process. For years, BJP has made it its mission to strangle the lifeline of India’s rural poor. First, they froze the scheme. Then, driven by political vendetta, they withheld wages from millions of job card holders. Next, they attempted to distort the scheme’s founding principles. And now, they have crossed the final red line, gutting its very soul by erasing Mahatma Gandhi’s name. BJP’s contempt for Gandhian values is neither new nor accidental. They have always viewed the Father of the Nation with disdain because truth, non-violence, dignity of labour, and moral courage stand in direct opposition to their politics of coercion, exclusion, and revenge. From Day One, we have unequivocally resisted BJP’s relentless attempts to hollow out MGNREGA and punish the poorest Indians for political spite. Today, our MPs stood up to expose this disgraceful assault.
