Industrial Townships at Raghunathpur and Kharagpur, 5,000 flats in adjoining areas
West Bengal Urban Development Ministry took the decision to construct industrial townships at Raghunathpur in Purulia and Kharagpur in West Midnapore.
The idea is to provide housing for those people who will come from far-off places to places to work in these industrial hubs. Urban Development Minister said building industrial hub is not enough since there is a need to provide housing to huge number of people who will come to work in the industrial hubs and this is an imitative to provide flats at a reasonable price.
Apart from these housing projects the ministry also plans to construct flats for workers in Kanchrapara, Maheshtala, Baruipur and Diamond Harbour since people will try to live in close proximity to the city. It was decided that the value of these falts will be priced at approximately five-lakh rupees. Nearly 5000 such accamodation will be constructed.
These industrial townships will be made on the model of Tatanagar industrial township.
