CM addresses a public meeting at Binpur, lays foundation stone and inaugurates a series of projects
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee who is on a three-day visit to Jangalmahal addressed a public meeting at Binpur in Jangalmahal on Tuesday. `I thank you all for coming to attend the public meeting in spite of such scorching heat. `I am really sorry as we should have taken the weather into consideration and covered the top. I will be short since I am aware how does it feel to stand under the sun on a hot summer afternoon`, were the opening words of the Chief Minister. She said that the prime reason behind her coming to Jangalmahal is to inaugurate numerous projects waiting to be flagged off, `As you can see we have inaugurated a large number of projects today and I am sure these will be beneficiary to you all. I have come here to inaugurate these projects`, added the Chief Minister.
Speaking on this occasion she said that apart from regular schemes the State government has initiated a new scheme called `Adhikar`, under this scheme those who are poor and homeless people will be provided funds for rehabilitation. ` We are giving today Rs. 45,000 to homeless under 'Adhikar' scheme`, said the Bengal Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister further added that she is aware that Binpur has Lalgarh on one side and Belpahari on the other which creates development slow for Binpur as the area is clubbed between the two, `I am aware of the problem that Binpur in between Lalgarh and Belpahari. I assure you that we will make Binpur a separate block when we start the process of constituting separate block`, she said.
The Chief Minister said that a college is under construction at Belpahari which will enable those residing in Binpur due to close proximity. `We are also constructing a primary teachers' training institutions (PTTI) at Ramgarh. Apart from that we are already building colleges in Lalgarh, Nayagram and Shalbani which will be operational from 2014`, informed the Chief Minister who said that the work at Jhargram Rajbari College is 40 percent complete. 113 secondary schools were upgraded to higher secondary schools. `I want to inform you that we are going to construct 67-colleges for girls along with hostel facilities, out of which 11 are already complete`, added the Chief Minister.
The State government also plans to increase the number of beds to 50 from the existing 30 at Binpur district hospital. `We will build six new multi-specialty hospitals in Jhargram district hospital, Kharagpur district hospital, Salbani Gramin hospital, Khatal district hospital, Gopiballavpur Gramin hospital, Debra Gramin hospital. Among these the work has already started in Jhargram district hospital, she said. Apart from that there are plans to build six mother-child care units in the district. The chief minister said that a trauma center is going to come up at Kharagpur district hospital soon. Many hospitals in the district have been upgraded with modern health facilities.
`We will continue to give rice at Rs. 2 per Kg to the poor people in the Jangalmahal even if the UPA government decides to stop providing the help. I reiterate my stand on this issue since I value commitments, hence, we will continue with our promise with whatever limited resources we have go`, said the Chief Minister.
