WB CM takes counselling session of party MLAs ahead of Winter Session of Assembly

At a time of uninformed debates and brawling legislators, WB CM Ms. Mamata Banerjee tried to revive a tradition which, if followed in letter and spirit, would help improve the quality of House deliberations.
“I want you to go to the (Assembly) library and study. You must come prepared for debates and participate in the proceedings,“ an MLA quoted the chief minister as saying during a meeting of the Trinamool Legislature Party at Nausher Ali Hall, inside the Assembly.
Trinamool MLAs said WB CM Ms. Mamata Banerjee spoke for 25 minutes at the closed-door session, held after the first day`s proceedings of the winter session ended.
While leaving, the Trinamool chief said: “Ektu counselling kore gelam (I did a bit of counselling).“
If the “counselling“ yields results, more MLAs are likely to be seen in the library, which chief librarian Aswini Kumar Pahari described as a “repository of information“.
