Two IIM students to do internship with Trinamool Congress
Mr Derek O`Brien, National Spokesperson & Chief Whip, on March 2 interviewed the four IIM final year students and selected two, Tanmay Mondal and Samprati Motghare. The two other students are Prodyut Purakait and Rohit Gattani.
Mr O`Brien said, initially, 31 IIM Kolkata students had applied for the internship but 17 of them were excluded as they were from the first year. Of the 14, Mr O`Brien and some other Trinamool Congress leaders finally shortlisted the four who were called for the interview.
Mr O` Brien held a video conference from Delhi and asked critical questions, like what is the one attribute of Trinamool Congress which is its biggest strength? He also asked the students about what was West Bengal`s debt three years ago and right now, and what was its revenue collection three years ago and what is it now? He also asked how MSME is working and what was the Trinamool`s government industry-related policy?
Both Mr Mondal and Mr Motghare have specialised in marketing and operations and both have a knack for politics. While Mr Mondal is a B.Tech from BESU, Mr Motghare was a B.Tech from Delhi IIT.
Incidentally, two post graduate MBA students from IIM, Kolkata, opted to do a one and half-month internship with Trinamool Congress, in April-May 2011. Mr Hariharan Sriram and Ms Mansha Tandon were a part of the AITC team when the party swept away 34 years of Left rule from the state.

ম্যানেজমেন্ট পড়তে পড়তে দু`জনেরই বহুজাতিক সংস্থায় চাকরি বাঁধা হয়ে গিয়েছে। তবু রাজনীতির অন্দর মহলকে যাচাই করে নিতে লোকসভা ভোটের আগে তৃণমূলের শিক্ষার্থী হলেন দুই তরুণ।
এক জন এ রাজ্যেরই বোলপুরের আদি বাসিন্দা। দীর্ঘ মেয়াদি লক্ষ্যে রাজনীতিতেই আসার ইচ্ছা তাঁর। আর এক জন ছত্তীসগঢ়ের ভিলাই ছেড়ে পড়াশোনার জন্য কলকাতায়। পণ্য বিপণনের কর্পোরেট ইনিংসের বাইরে আদর্শ বিপণনে আগ্রহী। অধুনা আইএমএম (কলকাতা)-র জোকা ক্যাম্পাসের বাসিন্দা দুই তরুণ তন্ময় মণ্ডল ও সম্প্রতি মোতঘারের নতুন কাজের ঠিকানা হতে চলেছে তপসিয়ার তৃণমূল ভবন।
রাজনীতির প্রতি অদম্য আগ্রহ এই একটি মাপকাঠিই তন্ময় ও সম্প্রতিকে সাহায্য করেছে বাকি আবেদনকারীদের টপকে তৃণমূলের হয়ে ইন্টার্নশিপের সুযোগ পেতে। গত বিধানসভার ভোটে আগে যেমন হয়েছিল, এ বার লোকসভা ভোটের আগেও তেমনই দু`জনকে শিক্ষার্থী হিসাবে চেয়েছিলেন তৃণমূল নেতৃত্ব। সমাজে বিভিন্ন অংশের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ আরও মসৃণ ভাবে গড়ে তোলার জন্য তৃণমূলের নীতি যাঁরা হাতে–কলমে রূপায়ণ করতে পারবেন। আইআইএম (কলকাতা) থেকে মোট জমা পড়েছিল ৩১টি আবেদন। প্রথম বর্ষের কাউকে বিবেচনা করা হবে না বলে বাদ দেওয়া হয়েছিল ১৭ জনকে। বাকি ১৪ জনের আবেদনপত্র, জীবনপঞ্জি খতিয়ে দেখে ইন্টারভিউয়ের জন্য ডাকা হয়েছিল ৫ জনকে। দিল্লি থেকে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সে রবিবার তাঁদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছেন তৃণমূলের রাজ্যসভার সচেতক তথা জাতীয় মুখপাত্র ডেরেক ও`ব্রায়েন। শেষ পর্যন্ত বাছা হয়েছে তন্ময় ও সম্প্রতিকে।
ইন্টারভিউ নিয়েছেন যিনি, সেই ডেরেকের প্রতিক্রিয়া, “রাজনীতির জন্য আগ্রহকেই অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়া হয়েছে। সেই জন্যই এই দু`জন সুযোগ পেয়েছে। এর পরে আরও কিছু শিক্ষানবিশ নেওয়া হবে।“
