Trinamool Chairperson pitches for United Bengal at a meeting in Sahudangi
Trinamool Chairperson addressed the party workers at Sahudangi in Jalpaiguri district earlier today. After speaking at a rally in Naxalbari, the Chairperson travelled to Sahudangi where she introduced the party`s candidate for Jalpaiguri seat – Bijoy Chandra Burman.
Listing the developmental projects initiated by the West Bengal Government for Jalpaiguri district, the Chairperson asked voters to shower Trinamool with votes. During her speech she said that Trinamool was against division of Bengal and would not tolerate any attempts to fuel separatist sentiments in the region. She said that certain parties create divisions between Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar and between Darjeeling and the plains. She maintained that for her all are equal.
The Chairperson continued that Left Front government has only made hollow promises to the people of North Bengal and relied on dividing people on the basis of region to rule. She said she will keep fighting for people. Claiming that she has worked to the best of her ability to bring a surge of development in the region, she vowed to keep working for the people.
Ms. Banerjee highlighted that Jalpaiguri has immense potential for development. Proximity to Siliguri and presence of natural resources were an asset. She said the West Bengal Government had set up 220 schools in the region, polytechnic colleges and ITIs are coming up in every block.
Didi also said that Jalpaiguri has immense potential as an investment destination. Ambari-Falakata is being developed as an industrial estate while 140 small scale industry units are coming up in the district. She added that Jalpaiguri and Malbazar would get multi super-specialty hospitals. Already three fair price medicine shops have been set up in the district.
Trinamool Chairperson also talked about boosting tourism in the area, and highlighted that Gazaldoba was being developed as a tourist hub. She also came down heavily on the Centre over Teesta water sharing. She said she was willing to share water with others, but not at the cost of people of North Bengal. She said the Government took measures to prevent the flood situation in Jalpaiguri.
Saying that peace was prevailing in Jalgalmahal, Darjeeling, Dooars and Terai, she urged people to vote for Trinamool in return for the developmental work she has done for the region.
