Peaceful polling in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Bengal
Lok Sabha elections in four constituencies of North Bengal – Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Darjeeling were held peacefully. The polling started from 7 AM and continued till 6 PM.
The Trinamool candidates for the constituencies were:
Coochbehar – Renuka Sinha
Jalpaiguri – Bijoy Ch Barman
Alipurduar – Dasharath Tirkey
Darjeeling – Bhaichung Bhutia
The polling percentage in the four constituencies till 5 PM were as follows:
Coochbehar – 80.7%
Jalpaiguri – 80.6%
Alipurduar – 79.4%
Darjeeling – 75.9%
