80% turnout in the second phase of Lok Sabha election in Bengal

The second phase of the 16th Lok Sabha election in six constituencies of West Bengal – Balurghat, Raiganj, Maldah Uttar, Maldaha Dakshin, Jangipur and Murshidabad was held peacefully. The polling started at 7 AM in the morning and continued till 6 PM in the evening. Long queues were observed at various booths as people turned up to exercise their democratic franchise.
After the polling ended for the day, Secretary General of Trinamool Congress addressed the press. He said, “Apart from a few stray incidents, polling has been peaceful in Bengal today. People have exercised their franchise in a free and fearless manner. We thank the people of Bengal for casting their vote despite the scorching heat. We will continue to project the developmental work by the Ma, Mati, Manush Government led by Ms. Mamata Banerjee in the coming days.”
The polling percentages in the six constituencies at 5 PM are as follows:
Raiganj: 79.78%
Balurghat: 82.16%
Maldaha Uttar: 80.6%
Maldaha Dakshin: 80.16%
Jangipur: 76.9%
Murshidabad: 82.24%
