The Centres does not spend even a paisa on Gangasagar Mela: Mamata Banerjee

Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed her second election campaign rally of the day in Kulpi in South 24 Parganas.

Highlights of her speech:

I have always loved these places besides the sea. Our country is incomplete without places like Sagar Islands, Kulpi, Kakdweep, Canning, Mathurapur and others. I cone to the Gangasagar Mela every year. If you did not welcome the lakhs of pilgrims who visit Gangasagar Mela every year, the festival could never have been held.

I am limping on one leg, but the able mothers and sisters are my inspiration and my strength.

The Centres does not spend even a paisa on Gangasagar Mela.

This is Bengal’s election. Let not outsiders dictate to you who to vote and who not to.

South 24 Parganas is like the motherland of Trinamool Congress. Kanyashree, scholarships for SC, ST and minority community students, schemes for fishermen, we have done as much as possible.

We rebuilt over 20 lakh homes destroyed by Cyclone Amphan, paid for damages suffered by farmers. Those who have not got yet, don’t worry, you’d get too. If I had not been in charge at the control room at Nabanna, just think what would have happened.

The Union government has given little money. And their leaders are telling lots of lies.

From Cyclone Fani to Amphan, we have helped you in the aftermath of every stormy destruction.

While I was the railway minister, I sanctioned the Lakshikantapur-Namkhana connecting train.

Don’t believe them at all. Only big talk about double engine government. What about even the single engine government at the centre? They can’t even run one government properly and here boating of double engine government.

The price of cooking gas has touched Rs 900. If they want to give you cash, say “give gas, not cash”. Bank interest has been reduced. Fuel price has been increased.

They are a bunch of rioters and goons, and bringing in people from Bihar and UP to create trouble here.

Don’t vote for them. Seven years in power at the Centre, yet where’s the promised Rs 15 lakh for every citizen? What about cylinders under Ujjwala Scheme?

A party has come from Hyderabad to divide the minority votes so that we lose. Don’t vote for them at all. Don’t let anyone divide you; don’t let them divide you communally. Stay together peacefully. Celebrate festivals together.

We celebrate festivals of Goddess Durga as well as Goddess Kali, as well as of many others.

In UP, women are being raped and burnt. Don’t let them do any such thing in Bengal. Foil all their evil plans with all your might. Fight the good fight.

I sometimes become very sad thinking what have they made of our beautiful country.

Don’t let them influence you with money. They’d destroy Bengal if they come to power.

Didi has done a lot for you. So why would you vote for the BJP? If we win, we would ensure ration even at your doorsteps. If the BJP comes to power, it would withdraw all the good schemes we introduced.

Rs 500 for the woman of the family, Rs 10,000 for farmers, Rs 10-lakh worth loans for students through Student Credit Cards, jobs for five lakh youth.

Modi is a big liar. And Amit Shah is a rioter. I pray for all communities to live together peacefully.

They would be here for e few days, cause riots to divide people, get the votes and then go away, never to look back. So don’t vote for them. Unlike them, you would find us beside you 365 days of the year.

To save the women of Bengal, vote for Trinamool Congress. Let this be your sacred vow. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla!
