Manas Bhunia asks a Question on deprivation of Bengal due to bank mergers

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Thank you, Deputy Chairman Sir. Through you I want to ask a question to the hon’ble minister. West Bengal houses the headquarters of three very important banks, namely United Bank of India, United Commercial Bank of India and Allahabad Bank.
The central government has decided to merge several banks under one umbrella, making ten banks into four banks. United Bank of India, which is the heritage bank of Bengal, sentiment of Bengal, has been merged with Punjab National Bank (PNB), which had been looted by so many industrialists.
Sir what prompted the Union Government and Finance Ministry, particularly the Banking Department, to merge United Bank of India with PNB with the aim to merge to function? Will Kolkata have any bank headquarters? What are the reasons to deprive Bengal?
