Bangla Govt to set up 2000 co-operative hubs for farmers

The Bangla Government is going to set up 2000 co-operative hubs for the farmers of Bengal. They will be able to take agricultural equipment on loan from these hubs at a nominal cost. State Cooperative Minister made this announcement on the last day of State Co-operative Week at Udaynarayanpur.
The minister said that if farmers are able to loan agricultural equipment, instead of buying them, it will be more cost-effective for them. Co-operative hubs will do this job. He also mentioned that in the current fiscal year, various cooperative banks in the State disbursed more than Rs 8,000 crore as agricultural loans to farmers.
The minister added that cooperative department was working hard for women’s empowerment too. More than 2.20 lakh women are associated with self help groups, which are doing a good job. The co-operative department is to give more loans to these women. In the current fiscal year, loans worth Rs 1200 crore were given to various self-help groups.
