The Bangla Government has prepared a roadmap for switching to electric mode in public transportation sector in Kolkata by 2030. The State Transport Department will be overseeing the project.

It was for this project that the mayor (and Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister) received the C40 Cities Bloomberg Philanthropies Award in Copenhagen, Denmark recently.

West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) has already introduced a fleet of electric buses (-e-buses) that connect Kolkata and its expansive suburbs. The plan is to have an entire city fleet of 5,000 electric buses by 2030.

This would bring down per annum carbon dioxide emission by 7,82,560 tonnes. All these e-buses will replace old polluting buses. The shift will be gradual. Completing a 100 per cent shift is a decade-long process, according to a senior official of the Transport Department.

Already 80 electric buses are plying across Kolkata. Soon, New Town, which is also the booming IT hub of Kolkata, will see 50 e-buses. A hundred e-buses are being bought for Haldia and Durgapur-Asansol.

The government is ready with a plan of setting up 241 charging stations for electric vehicles in the Kolkata Metropolitan Area.

Not just buses, the West Bengal Transport department is also planning battery-run ferry services along the Hooghly. The vessels are one of the pivotal and cheapest modes of transport for thousands of passengers.

The Benngal Transport department on Wednesday introduced another set of 22 bike taxis that will serve as last-mile connectivity vehicles in Rajarhat and New  Town respectively.

The Transport department had already introduced around 21 bike taxis for Rajarhat and New Town on March 16. The bike taxis were named as K Bike Taxi.

The state Transport department had framed a set of guidelines that all the operators of bike taxis will have to follow. Such guidelines have been framed considering the safety and security of passengers.

Panic buttons have been made mandatory in the bike taxis and at the same time the fare will also be controlled by the transport department. Moreover, riders of the bike taxis will carry an additional helmet that the pillion rider might need to put on while availing the service. At the same time, raincoats for pillion riders during the monsoon season will also be provided.

নিউটাউন রাজারহাটে চালু হল আরও ২২টি বাইক ট্যাক্সি। ইতিমধ্যেই মার্চ মাসে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর রাজারহাট ও নিউটাউনের পরিবহণের সুবিধার্থে চালু করে বাইক ট্যাক্সি পরিষেবা। বাইক ট্যাক্সি গুলির পোশাকি নাম রাখা হয়েছে ‘কে বাইক ট্যাক্সি’।

রাজ্য পরিবহণ সংস্থা কিছু নিয়মাবলী তৈরি করেছেন যা সকল বাইক ট্যাক্সি’কে মেনে চলতে হবে। এই নিয়মাবলীগুলি তৈরি করা হয়েছে যাত্রীদের সুরক্ষা ও নিরাপত্তার কথা মাথায় রেখে।

বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে থাকছে একটি প্যানিক বোতাম; পাশাপাশি ভাড়া নিয়ন্ত্রণ করবে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর। এছাড়া বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে একটি অতিরিক্ত হেলমেট রাখতে হবে যেটা যাত্রী পরবেন ও বর্ষাকালের কথা মাথায় রেখে এই বাইক ট্যাক্সিতে যাত্রীদের জন্য একটি রেনকোটও থাকবে।

Biswa Bangla logo will now be the of Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC), which has been renamed West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC), the unified entity of three state transport undertakings — CSTC, Calcutta Tram Corporation (CTC) and West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC).

THe branding of unified STUs as WBTC has already started. All buses, trams and vessels will carry this symbol. The process of sharing logistics — like depot and maintenance has also started. This will help in utilizing the workforce far more efficiently to provide better and consistent services.

Already, depots like Santragachhi, airport, Nabanna, Howrah, Sealdah and Joka are being shared among buses on the basis of routes. Gradually, all other depots will follow suit. This will help to rationalize manpower. Like CTC may lack engineers, but WBSTC has them in abundance. So the shortage can be met effectively, now. The three corporations together have over 2,500 buses, 300 trams and over 100 vessels.

Route overlapping that caused unnecessary bleeding of the STUs can be done away with. According to transport officials, clear-cut routes and well-spaced-out timings needed to be worked out so that buses are evenly distributed and they get adequate passengers.

বিশ্ব বাংলা লোগো দ্বারা সজ্জিত হতে চলেছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহন সংস্থার যানবাহনে

এবার থেকে বিশ্ব বাংলা লোগো থাকবে পশ্চিম বঙ্গ পরিবহন সংস্থার যানবাহনগুলিতে। কলকাতা রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহন সংস্থা, কলকাতা ট্রাম কোম্পানি ও পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ভূতল পরিবহন সংস্থাকে একজোট করে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহন সংস্থা তৈরী করা হয়েছে।

সবকটি সংস্থা একছাতার তলায় এসে কাজ করা শুরু করে দিয়েছে। সব ধরনের পরিবহন মাধ্যমে এই লোগো থাকবে। ডিপো ও রক্ষণাবেক্ষণও ভাগাভাগি করে কাজ শুরু করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এর ফলে উন্নত মানের পরিষেবা দেওয়া সম্ভব।

ইতিমধ্যেই সাঁতরাগাছি, বিমানবন্দর, নবান্ন, হাওড়া, শিয়ালদহ ও জোকার ডিপোগুলো রুট ভিত্তিক ভাগাভাগি করে কাজ শুরু করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এর ফলে লোকবল ভালোভাবে ভাগাভাগি হবে। যেমন কলকাতা ট্রাম কোম্পানিতে ইঞ্জিনিয়ারের সংখ্যা কম থাকলেও পশ্চিম বঙ্গ পরিবহন সংস্থায় সেই সংখ্যাটি যথেষ্ট। এই তিন সংস্থা মিলিয়ে মোট ২৫০০ বাস, ৩০০ ট্রাম ও ১০০টি জাহাজ আছে।

একই রুটে অধিক বাস যাওয়ার ফলে যে অসুবিধা হচ্ছিল, সেটাও এবার কমবে। পরিবহন আধিকারিকরা বলেছেন, নির্দিষ্ট রুট ও নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের ব্যাবধানের ফলে বাসগুলি সমানভাবে বণ্টন হবে ও যথেষ্ট যাত্রী পাওয়া যাবে।

The integrated board of the three transport corporations has been named as the West Bengal Transport Corporation.

It may be recalled that an integrated board for Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC), Calcutta Tramways Company (CTC) and West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) was constituted to ensure better transport facility. The step was also taken to ensure that the losses incurred by the corporations could be reduced. The decision on integration of the three crucial transport corporations was taken on June 8.

The integrated board, with the new name, will also get its own logo and the transport department had approached Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to draw a logo for the West Bengal Transport Corporation.

The West Bengal Chief Minister had drawn logos of several projects of the transport department earlier, including one that of the Gatidhara scheme. Rachpal Singh, the MLA from Tarakeswar, was made the chairman of the integrated board for CSTC, CTC and WBSTC. Entally MLA Swarnakamal Saha was appointed the vice-chairman of the board. Nayna Bandyapadhyay, MLA from Chowringhee Assembly constituency and Sujit Bose from Bidhannagar Assembly constituency were inducted as the two directors of the newly formed board.

 

গঠিত হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগম

তিনটি পরিবহণ সংস্থার সংযুক্তীকরণ করা হল।নয়া সরকারি পরিবহণ সংস্থার নাম হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগম।

কলকাতা রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ নিগম (সিএসটিসি), কলকাতা ট্রাম কোম্পানি (সিটিসি), পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ভূতল পরিবহণ নিগমের সংযুক্তিকরণের পর রাজ্য সরকার নতুন সংস্থার নামকরণের সিদ্ধান্ত নিল।

নতুন নিগমের নতুন লোগোও তৈরি হচ্ছে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বিশ্ব বাংলার লোগোকে সামনে রেখেই নয়া লোগো তৈরি করার জন্য পরিবহণমন্ত্রীকে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন।

এই তিনটি নিগমকে এক করে চেয়ারম্যান পদে বসানো হয়েছে রচপাল সিংকে এবং ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান হলেন স্বর্ণকমল সাহা। এই ইন্টিগ্রেটেড বোর্ডের দুইজন পরিচালক হলেন চৌরঙ্গী বিধানসভার বিধায়ক নয়না বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবং বিধাননগরের বিধায়ক সুজিত বসু। পরিবহণ দপ্তর সূত্রে জানা গেছে, একটাই পরিচালন পর্ষদ থাকবে। তার ফলে তিনটি নিগমের কর্মীরাই একসঙ্গে কাজ করবেন।
