Bangla one of the top States for trade, says Australian govt report

Bangla is one of the key States for trade and investment, says a report by the Australian government which was released at an industrial summit in Kolkata, organised by a leading business association, on July 17.

Report

The report, An India Economic Strategy to 2035: Navigating from Potential to Delivery, has identified four sectors in the State for collaboration: resource and energy (including mining equipment, technology and services), agriculture, vocational education (especially hospitality training) and healthcare, said the Australian consul-general while releasing the report.

As previously said by many other industry leaders and investors, the consul-general too said that Bangla is a gateway of investment to the entire eastern and north-eastern India, and hence has immense potential..

Highlights

The report highlights Bangla as ‘the centre of India’s mining and resources sector’, ‘India’s third largest in terms of mineral production’, ‘significant healthcare hub for eastern India’, ‘gateway to India’s north-eastern states and India’s eastern neighbours’, and ‘a strong agricultural state, including the largest producer of rice, fish, prawns and jute and major producer of tea, potatoes and pineapples’.

It also mentions Kolkata as a major urban market and one of the fastest-growing cities in India (and is being projected to be in the top 10 fastest-growing cities in Asia by 2021), Bangla being the ‘coal industry hub’, the agricultural success of the State (including the NSVA for agriculture sector being 17% and widespread irrigation), and its tourism potential.

Chief strengths, as per the report

The report mentions three current strengths of Bangla:

  • Strong growth higher than the national average, and capacity for mineral production
  • Kolkata is a significant healthcare hub for eastern India, with a large number of super-specialty hospitals and diagnostic centres
  • Digitised land records, high road and rail density and port facilities

Success of Mamata Banerjee’s vision

All these aspects mentioned in the report point to the widespread growth that Bangla has witnessed in so many sectors under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

It needs to be mentioned in this connection that the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), a brainchild of the chief minister, has been one of the most successful business summits in India, with the last one in February 2019 having brought investment proposals worth Rs 2,84,288 crore for State.

Centre not helping Bangla to complete power projects

Despite all the big talk about cooperative federalism, the BJP-led Central Government’s vindictive attitude towards Bangla continues.

During his department’s Budget speech in the Assembly on Monday, July 8, the Power Minister said the Centre has failed to make the Katwa power project operational despite the State Government providing land for the same.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had taken initiative to arrange land for the 1,320 MW power project, but the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is yet to take any major step in this regard. Even the officers who were posted there have been withdrawn.

The minister also pointed out the Centre’s apathetic attitude towards other power projects in the State.

Despite the State Government’s writing to the Centre, the latter has not issued clearance for various coal mines, including Barjora I and II, and Deocha-Pachami, which holds one of the biggest reserves in Asia. The coal from these mines would go a long way in supporting the thermal power requirement of the State.

However, despite these unavoidable shortcomings, the minister pointed out later in reply to a question, since March 2017, the State has not hiked the price of electricity despite recommendation by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, proving the Trinamool Congress Government’s commitment to serve the people to the best of its capacity.

To compensate for the loss due to not hiking the rates, the State Government has been giving the Power Department a subsidy of Rs 1,000 crore.

Computer education from class I in all schools in Bangla

Highlighting the integral nature of knowledge of computer usage to education, the Bangla Government has decided to start compulsory computer education classes from the first standard in all government and government-sponsored schools. The classes will be held at least till the secondary level.

To implement this decision, computer would be bought for over 65,000 schools. A maximum of four computers would be bought for a school having 50 students, and a proportionate number for those having more. An adequate number of teachers would also be recruited.

The syllabus committee of the State Government has already started work on the matter.

Computers would help make the lessons qualitatively much more interesting to students, according to the chairman of the syllabus committee. Besides the science subjects and geography, efforts are on to make literature too teachable using computers.

BJP will lose its deposits if elections are held on ballot papers: Abhishek Banerjee

All India Trinamool Congress organised protest marches across Bangla today against the rising prices of fuel and other essential commodities. Leading the protests in South Kolkata was TMYC National President Abhishek Banerjee.

After the protest march from Golpark to Hazra, he addressed the gathering. He said that if elections are held on ballot papers, BJP will lose its deposits.

Highlights of his speech:

All of you are aware that yesterday, our chief minister, Mamata Banerjee had a meeting with the Trinamool Congress MLAs wherein a multi-pronged approach to ensure better reach of the State Government’s various schemes was taken.

It is on her instructions that we are organising these protests today, against the sudden spike in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas brought about by the Central Government. Despite being organised at short notice, you all have participated whole-heartedly in the protests and therefore we are thankful to all of you.

Unlike the BJP Government at the Centre, our government in the State did not come about with the help of the CRPF and the Election Commission.

Our government was elected to power with the help of the love and affection of the people of Bangla. Therefore even if the BJP Government wants, it will not succeed in toppling our government.

Our loss in the just-concluded Lok Sabha election did not come about because of loss of popularity but because of the transferring of the CPI(M) votes to the BJP.

Despite the decrease in the number of seats from 34 in 2014 to 22 in 2019, our vote percentage increased from 39 per cent to 44 per cent. Out of the 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bangla, Trinamool Congress has increased the vote percentage by 5 per cent in 41 seats.

Also, all the party offices captured by the BJP over the last few days have been captured back by us. Let me warn others, if you start doing politics using force, be prepared to go all the way.

Let me warn the BJP, you may have more than 300 MPs in Parliament but each of our 22 MPs is capable of putting up a fight with 20 of yours.

One must remember that despite the BJP, CRPF, Election Commission, Reserve Bank of India, CBI, ED and Income Tax Department on one side and the leader of our State, Mamata Banerjee alone on the other, we have managed to increase our vote percentage 44 per cent and halted the BJP’s shameless effort at bringing about religious polarisation in our State in its tracks.

The BJP has swept through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh but has been stopped from achieving its target here.

Our fight will continue, for which we will give a renewed call at the annual July 21 (Ekushe July) rally. Mamata Banerjee’s Ekushe July rally in 1993 was for enforcing the ‘no identity card no vote’ policy, her rally in 2019 will be for bringing back voting through ballot paper in order to save democracy as we have caught the BJP’s tactics of hacking EVMs. The BJP will lose its deposits if elections are held on ballot papers.

Like so many times previously, we have once again hit the streets to protest against the burden brought on to the common man’s shoulder by increasing the prices of fuels. This is what Trinamool Congress is all about – always by the side of the people, unlike other political parties.

For every serious issue that the country is facing, like rising unemployment, farmer suicides and others, Narendra Modi has only one answer – chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. This is what Bharatiya Janata Party is all about.

The BJP may chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ or ‘Jai Maa Kali’’ as much as they want, but will only go for ‘Jai Hind’, ‘Joy Bangla’ and ‘Vande Mataram’. We don’t confuse politics with religion.

My best wishes to all my Muslim brothers and sisters on the occasion of Eid tomorrow, and my best wishes are also there with all my Hindu brothers and sisters who celebrated the ‘Tirodhan Dibas’ of Baba Loknath yesterday.

On June 6, Trinamool Congress workers will organise massive protest marches on the issue of fuel price hike in all the 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

We won’t stop till we throw the BJP out of power. We will protest inside Parliament, outside Parliament, in blocks, cities, towns and villages.

I ask all of you to rise up against the BJP, which vandalised the statue of a person as great as Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar.

The time for resting is over. We must all gear up to fight with all our might and ensure that in 2021, the BJP is given a burial through democratic means, the BJP which is out to destroy the culture of our State.

The people of the country have also realised that there is only one leader who can take the fight to the BJP, and that leader is Mamata Banerjee.

The BJP leaders are saying that Mamata Banerjee would be sent 10 lakh postcards with ‘Jai Shri Ram’ written on them. But before they could do that, we have sent them 25 lakh WhatsApp messages containing ‘Joy Bangla’, ‘Jai Hind’ and ‘Mamata Banerjee Zindabad’.

He promised ‘Achhey Din’, instead Modi has destroyed the country: Abhishek Banerjee at Kaliganj

All India Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Kaliganj in the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha Constituency in Nadia district.

Highlights of his speech:

I welcome all present here today to this rally and showed their support for Trinamool Congress.

If woman power is behind you, no other power can harm you.

There is a huge difference between the elections that were held in 2009 and 2014, and the election being held in 2019.

Our fight is against a power that has been using government agencies like the CBI and ED to spread fear among people. Mamata Banerjee is the only leader who could not be subdued by such threats.

Mamata Banerjee has given the clarion call to drive out the BJP of Bangla.

Bangla is the land of renaissance. Bangla showed the way during the freedom struggle.

Bengal has been the force behind mass movements such as that of Ekushey July, Netai, Singur, Nandigram, Bantala, Dhantala and Keshpur.

Bangla has never tolerated divisive politics.

Bangla is the land of Swami Vivekananda, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar, Matangini Hazra and Ram Mohan Roy. The people of today need to follow that glorious tradition.

Our fight is not only for Ranaghat or the district of Nadia, but for winning all the 42 seats in the State.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose once said, “Give me blood and I will give you freedom,” and Mamata Banerjee has now given the call to win all 42 out of 42 seats to ensure for you a progressive, peaceful, secular and developed India.

We have done a lot of developmental work.

If there is comparison made between Modi and Didi in terms of developmental work, the former will lose badly.

‘Achhey Din’ never came. GST and demonetisation destroyed the country. GDP has dropped by 2%.

The country has become financially bankrupt.

The prime minister of the country is asking for votes in the name of the army, in the name of religion.

They have taken away the savings of the poor during demonetisation. And on top of that, they have built a seven-star party head office in Delhi.

Should the youth vote for such a BJP?

In the name of ‘Acchey Din’, the prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel and kerosene have been increased.

The prime minister used to call himself a tea-seller, now he calls himself a chowkidar. But nobody has seen him selling tea at any time. Our chief minister, on the other hand, is still her humble self – still living in a small, tile-roofed house, from where she governs the 10 crore people of the State, ensuring the wave of development reaches every one of them.

The BJP talks about ‘imam bhata’ (stipend for imams) and ‘moazeem bhata’ (stipend for moazzems) being given out of the money you pay as tax. But that’s a falsehood being spread by them.

That money is taken out of fund of the Waqf Board, as ordered by the Supreme Court of India, and the money you pay as tax, all of it is spent on the various developmental schemes that the Trinamool Government has undertaken.

Mamata Banerjee had decided to give Rs 10,000 as a grant to Durga Puja committees across the State. And what did we see? The BJP, CPI(M) and Congress ganged up the next day and filed a case against us, calling the move Muslim appeasement.

We have respect for all religions. The only religion we follow is humanism. Our job is to ensure that all people get the benefits of government schemes.

The candidates of the other parties are making a lot of promises too. But all of them will be vanquished in the coming days and will never be seen again. .

We have all seen the seasonal insects (‘shyama poka’) that come to our homes during the Diwali period, which fly away after a few days. The same is the case with the BJP leaders who are now promising you so many things.

But Trinamool Congress has always stood beside the people – on all occasions, for every reason, at all times.

‘Acchey Din’’ has come only for the son of Amit Shah, whose company’s income increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore in one year. People are disgusted because they have lost all their money.

How much black money has been recovered through demonetisation? Nothing.

After the election, the BJP must be driven out – all of us here must take this oath today.

People like Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi have fled the country after stealing huge amounts of money from the people in spite of the Chowkidar being present.

Modi is talking about ‘Make in India’ when the car he is using is made in Germany,

The government has funds for a Rs 3,000-crore statue and the bullet train project but not for social schemes.

Should you vote for the people who have terrorised the people of Nadia? The BJP is creating communal tensions between Hindus and the Muslims.

Some people are saying, Hindus are in danger while some are saying, Muslims are in danger. But if one sees things after removing the spectacles of distortion, one will realise that the whole nation is in danger.

The BJP came to power in 2014 with Swami Vivekananda supposedly in their hearts and minds but has not had the intention of giving recognition to Belur Math.

Our current prime minister has taken the country 200 years back.

Therefore vote for Mahua Moitra and through that, ensure that Mamata Banerjee become stronger. Mamata Banerjee is the only solution to all the ills that have befallen the country.

Vote for Trinamool to ensure a secular, progressive govt at the Centre: Abhishek Banerjee at Nabadwip

All India Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Nabadwip in Nadia district.

Highlights of his speech:

We have assembled here, and that too, in this heat, being inspired by the leadership of Mamata Banerjee.

Wherever I have gone, I have asked the people to vote for the Trinamool Congress to help it form the government at the Centre for primarily three reasons – to bring down the cost of cooking gas and fuels, the latter being responsible for the rising costs of essential goods and services; to put an end to the politics of communalism that is playing out across the country; and to ensure that Bangla gets to keep its self-respect.

Today, I ask you to vote for us for another reason too: To see to it that the murderers of your beloved brother, Satyajit is locked up in jail.

We have to give a proper answer to those who have kept us in chains for the last five years.

This fight is between Agnikanya Didi and the secular Modi.

For the people of Bangla, we’ll do everything possible; we’ll never surrender to the scare tactics of Narendra Modi’s government.

Vote for Rupali Biswas, but remember that it is actually for strengthening Mamata Banerjee and helping her oust Narendra Modi from the Centre.

Achhe Din, Rs 15 lakh per person, two crore jobs – have any you reaped the benefits of these, as promised by Narendra Modi? None of you have, I know for sure.

But on the other hand, all of you have got the benefits of the developmental schemes of the Trinamool Congress Government.

The BJP calls itself the saviour of Hindus. But what has it done for them?

The BJP talks about ‘imam bhata’ (stipend for imams) and ‘moazeem bhata’ (stipend for moazzems) being given out of the money you pay as tax. But that’s a falsehood being spread by them.

That money is taken out of fund of the Waqf Board, as ordered by the Supreme Court of India, and the money you pay as tax, all of it is spent on the various developmental schemes that the Trinamool Government has undertaken.

Mamata Banerjee had decided to give Rs 10,000 as a grant to Durga Puja committees across the State. And what did we see? The BJP, CPI(M) and Congress ganged up the next day and filed a case against us.

Therefore, if we want to do anything for Hindus, you try to stop that, and if we want to do anything for Muslims, you call it appeasement.

The Centre unleashed income tax officials on Durga Puja organisers but did nothing to act against the numerous big-spending Ganesh Puja organisers in Maharashtra and Hanuman Jayanti organisers in Uttar Pradesh.

The prices of cooking gas, petrol, diesel, and kerosene had all been increased but then suddenly came down a little over the short course of the last couple of months, the reason being the BJP’s loss in some crucial State elections.

Vote for Mamata Banerjee to ensure the formation of a government at the Centre that will bring prices come down further to levels affordable by the common people, and GST rates to levels affordable by small businesses.

Ensure all of you vote, and vote for us, who will ensure further development for you.

Vote for Trinamool to ensure the victory of the great ideals that people of Bangla have always abided by.

The BJP talks about Hindutva. But in that too, the contribution of Bangla is supreme as without Swami Vivekananda, there would have been no Hindutva.

Abolition of sati, education of women and many other social changes were brought about by Bengalis. It is because of people like Swami Vivekananda, Raja Ram Mohun Roy, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar and numerous others, that we as a society are what we are.

The prime minister once called himself a chaiwallah, now calls himself a chowkidar, but he’s neither – on the other hand, Mamata Banerjee is as humble as ever, living in the house before coming to power as well as after.

The NRC has caused lakhs of Bengalis to be removed from the registrar of citizens – if it is promulgated in Bangla, many here in Nabadwip will be affected too.

The prime minister of Pakistan, considered India’s enemy, too wants Modi to come back to power, so do Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi and other criminals, things have to such a pass.

Modi is such a chowkidar who has helped criminals like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya to escape from the country.

Do you want to vote for such a party? Therefore, vote for Mamata Banerjee.

With pride I too say ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. But we know the real significance of the slogan, and don’t need to be taught anything by the communal BJP.

Trinamool Congress is always by your side – in case of accidents, sickness, for helping in getting benefits of government schemes and for so many other things.

The BJP has never been seen organising blood donation camps or any other social activity.

The BJP wants to impose an alien culture, the culture of Uttar Pradesh, on to Bangla. Therefore, ensure you vote out the BJP and help Mamata Banerjee realise her promise of winning all 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in the State.

Your votes are as good as precious jewels for us. Don’t waste your votes in the Congress and the CPI(M). Vote for us as only we can defeat the BJP. And on May 23, you will realise the power of your votes.

I request all of you to vote for Rupali Biswas, and help Mamata Banerjee realise her dream of forming a secular, progressive government at the Centre.

Bangla has shown the road to ‘poriborton’, and will ensure that at the Centre too.

The prime minister and his party want to control everything, even keep track of who eats what in their homes, yet have no information on terrorists bringing RDX into the country and killing jawans with it.

They ask for votes in the name of religion. Yet farmers’ suicides, deaths of children in the hospital in Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh mostly involved Hindu people. They seem to care so much of Hindus, yet didn’t give proper recognition to Belur Math, a site of great significance for Hindus.

I too am a Hindu but I follow the real rules of the religion – not the ones preached by the likes of Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath.

Modi Hatao, Desh Bachao

Vande Mataram. Jai Hind.

Bangla will show the way to ‘poriborton’ in Delhi too: Abhishek Banerjee in Bongaon

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee addressed a public meeting today at the Gopalnagar Haripada Institution in Bongaon.

Highlights from his speech:

I begin by congratulating all the leaders who have come here, and the people, for coming here by the thousands, in spite of the heat. Since you have come here in this weather, it can be safely assumed that you have already decided in your minds to uproot the BJP from Bangla, and make Trinamool Congress win.

Mamatabala Thakur is standing from here once again, and I request everyone to help in re-electing her to the Lok Sabha.

Today is Annapurna Puja, and my best wishes are with everyone.

The voting here is on May 6. We can campaign till May 4. Therefore our campaign will continue for the next 20 days. We have to ensure the BJP does not get even a toehold here.

Remember that the fight this time is neither against the CPI(M) nor the Congress; it is between Agnikanya Didi and the communal Modi.

Decide whether you are with Mamata Banerjee or the communal BJP – your votes will determine this.

In the 2016 by-election, the BJP candidate lost, and after that he was never seen doing any work for the people here. But Trinamool is here for all seasons, working tirelessly for the people.

Therefore, vote for ‘Jorahool’ again and help us serve you better.

We help you in every way possible – be it for helping solve any major family problem or calling the fire brigade or ensuring you get your due widow pension or retirement pension or Kanyashree or Yuvashree stipend or Rupashree grant or anything else.

We are with people of all religions – we believes in unity in diversity. Trinamool does not believe in the politics of religion. We are with the people during all their religious celebrations.

The prime minister had come to Thakurnagar a few weeks back, but such was his so-called devotion for the people that he made ‘Harichand Thakur’ into ‘Harishchandra Thakur’ and ‘Matua Samaj’ into ‘Mathua Samaj’.

Mamata Banerjee has done so much for the Matuas – as railway minister, she ensured a railway station at Thakurnagar, and later had a road built till Thakurbari. Recently, she laid the foundation stone of Harichand Guruchand University. We have formed the Namashudra Development Board for the development of the community. We have built in this region superspeciality hospitals, engineering colleges, ITIs, polytechnic colleges, etc.

Our government has bestowed its highest award, the Banga Bibhushan, on Boro Maa. The prime minister met Boro Maa too, but didn’t announce a single award for her.

If we form the government in Delhi, under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, the nation’s highest award will be given to her.

The Central Government has been peddling lies for the last five years.

Trinamool Congress has carried bouquets of development to every corner of the State.

Real Hinduism does not teach divisiveness – rather, it teaches us to have confidence in its basic goodness while at the same time, have respect for the beliefs of other people in their own religions.

We believe in the Hinduism taught to us by Swami Vivekananda, not by Yogi Adityanath.

The BJP has tried to insult Bangla again and again. Not a single paisa has been spent for the development of the State. Mamata Banerjee, on the other hand, despite having to repay the debt accumulated through the loans taken by the CPI(M) government, has spent so much for the State, without imposing a single extra rupee as tax.

The prime minister had promised you all ‘Achhe Din’. I will give you examples of ‘Achhe Din’: price of cooking gas going up from Rs 400 per cylinder to Rs 750, kerosene from Rs 15 per litre to Rs 32, from a 3 per cent tax to 28 per cent GST.

The BJP has realised that misleading people from behind the façade of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ chants is no longer working.

Bangla is the land of revolts, of protests, of the biggest leaders of the Independence Movement, of the July 21 protest, of Netai, of Nandigram, of Dhantala-Bantala.

Nobody could repress us to submission, and nobody will be able to now.

They are envious of even the name, ‘Bangla’, and that is why for the last two years, they have refused to pass the order for changing the name of the State.

Despite the State Government providing 40 per cent of the funds, the Centre wanted the name of the scheme to be ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’. We could have asked form ‘Mukhya Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’. But we asked only for what was just, that the scheme be named ‘Bangla Gram Sadak Yojana’. They refused. So we unilaterally changed the name and are therefore providing the full funding too.

They are getting scared of our State, Bangla; therefore, throw them out democratically, with the help of your votes.

I had earlier mentioned about the prices going up. The prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, and GST rates, had gone up large amounts. But over the last few months, as the BJP lost elections in five States, the prices came down.

It is for you to decide – whether to vote for a party that wants to divide Bengal or for one that will work three times more for the State.

On May 23 the results will be declared, and a new government will be formed in the following few days.

Now, whether you want the price of cooking gas to go up to Rs 2,000 in one go or petrol to Rs 100 or kerosene to Rs 70 – you have the power to decide that through your votes.

To the youth here I say: Modi had said a few days back to vote with the jawans in mind. He is such a shameless prime minister to say this, use jawans for electoral politics, in fact, such a shameless prime minister has never been known till now.

And do you know who is the candidate standing against Modi in Varanasi? None other than a BSF jawan himself, one who had released a video several months back that had gone vial, that had shown the pathetic quality of food the jawans have to eat every day. And he was sacked from his job as a result of the video. This is the kind of welfare Modi has in mind for jawans.

A few days back, the prime minister of Pakistan had said that he wants Modi to be re-elected as prime minister. And Pakistan is supposed to be our enemy. Therefore our enemy wants Modi as the prime minister. Not just him, but the ISI, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya, dacoits, rioters and smugglers – all want Modi as the prime minister.

He is a prime minister who has told us lie after lie. Have any of you got the Rs 15 lakh in your accounts as he promised? Don’t work, he’s going to lose power after May 23.

We believe in democracy. If we faithfully follow the directions of our leader, Mamata Banerjee, it will be enough to ensure our victory.

The BJP has not sent greetings even once to the people of the State on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the lives of Bengalis. Even on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, the BJP did not send any condolences.

The BJP is only interested in fomenting trouble and creating unrest by chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ everywhere.

Our leader has given the call for winning all 42 out of 42 seats, and we’ll win them.

He has hurt you again and again, by increasing the prices of fuels, by imposing high GST rates; now we will answer him in kind by hurting him badly, when we throw him out of power in Delhi.

Therefore, remember to vote for Mamatabala Thakur because remember that by voting for her, you are actually voting for Mamata Banerjee and helping her go one more step towards forming the government at the Centre – a secular and progressive government.

I ask all the first-time voters to think carefully before you cast your votes – whether to vote for development or destruction, for peace or violence, for preserving the respect of Bangla or for helping form a government in Delhi that will force its decisions down our throats.

I appeal to all of you to cast your votes without fear; go out early in the morning and cast your votes. Vote for Mamatabala Thakur.

In the coming days, a government is going to be formed in Delhi that will ensure development in Bangla three times more than what has been happening till now.

Netaji had once said – give me blood and I will give you freedom; now Mamata Banerjee has given the call to Bangla – give me 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats, and I’ll give you a progressive and secular government at the Centre.

2019 – BJP finish; BJP hatao, desh bachao

Bangla has shown the way to ‘poriborton’ and now ‘poriborton’ will come in Delhi too.

Only a matter of time before Trinamool is declared winner in Balurghat: Abhishek Banerjee at Kushmandi

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee addressed a public meeting at Harahar Ground in Kushmandi, which is in the Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency.

Highlights of his speech:

Seeing the enthusiasm here today, I can safety tell my leader Mamata Banerjee that the people of Balurghat are all for Trinamool Congress.

Arpita Ghosh is standing from here for the second consecutive time. Hope you all will support her and elect her.

I can see many cameras here. I challenge everyone to prove me wrong in anything that I say here today. I speak solely on the basis of facts, and don’t try to confuse people unlike some people.

Elections are happening in two constituencies in Bangla today, and I have credible information that the manner in which the people are voting, Trinamool Congress will win both the seats.

Hence out of the 42 seats, we have already won got two seats. Therefore, we need to win 40 out of 40 now.

I can say with conviction Arpita Ghosh will win by two lakh votes.

This seat, and the election in general this time, is very crucial. This fight is between our Agnikanya Didi and the communal Modi.

The BJP has scared other leaders into keeping quiet, but they couldn’t do that to Mamata Banerjee.

Nothing that Modi had promised – ‘achhe din’, two crore jobs per year, roads, engineering colleges, etc. – has come true.

In the name of ‘achhe din’, he brought about ‘notebandi’ for the people, along with all the related desperation, while he himself toured foreign countries in luxury.

He had said ‘sabka saath sabka vikas’ and what did he do instead? Price cooking gas cylinders at more than Rs 900 a kg and build a seven-star party office in Delhi.

Two months back the price of cooking gas was Rs 977 per cylinder. Then there was a sudden climbdown. The reason was the BJP’s massive loss in five State elections.

Similarly, the prices of atta, kerosene, petrol and diesel, and rates of GST, came down.

Therefore, it has been proved that the more you defeat the BJP, the more the prices of everything will decrease.

The BJP is trying to buy out the people of Bangla, but Bangla will never allow that, whatever happens in other States.

For us, religion is personal, for practicing in our homes, and not for achieving political ends.

However, for elected representatives, there is only one religion – humanism – and their duty is to ensure that the fruits of development reach every corner of their constituency.

Trinamool Congress has nothing to learn from a party which has done nothing for the people. We have always believed in serving the people.

All of you wanted money to be spent for the development of Balurghat, and what did you see instead? Rs 3,000 crore spent on a statue, and a pittance in comparison for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, which is for the development of girls.

Therefore the intention of Modi is only to show-off, and not to serve the people.

Modi believes in ‘Jai Shri Ram’, but only for his own ends.

The way Trinamool Congress works for the people, no party does.

Modi called himself a simple chaiwallah, but he was never a real chaiwallah, nobody had seen him selling tea; on the other hand, our Mamata Banerjee has always led a simple life – governing the 10 crore people of the State from the same humble house where she had always lived in.

During the massive floods in the State, Mamata Banerjee had visited areas in knee-deep water to know first-hand and feel for herself the miseries of the people.

With due respect to the other chief ministers of Bangla, none of them ever did this kind of work, or had this kind of involvement in the welfare of their people.

Mamata Banerjee has come to Balurghat again and again and every time, brought with her bouquets of development for the people.

People stood in long queues during demonetisation, hoping things will improve. But they are in same state, still living in poverty.

Therefore choose wisely and vote for the party which has brought development for you.

The Centre has again and again backed out of providing any help to Bangla. The changing of the name of the State to ‘Bangla’’ has not been passed in two years.

Despite the State Government providing 40 per cent of the funds, the Centre wanted the name of the scheme to be ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’. We just wanted what was just, that the scheme be named ‘Bangla Gram Sadak Yojana’.

The BJP leaders have never cared for Bangla. They are lecturing here, giving speeches about their so-called concern for yet, yet leave alone everything else, they can’t even read a single word of Bengali.

Farmer suicides have spread across the country; 150 people have been killed while just standing in queues.

As a result of GST, many small businesses were closed, and they were owned by people of all religions, including Hindus. So is this the way you work for the welfare of Hindus, as you proudly boast of doing?

After demonetisation, black money and terrorism, which were supposed to have stopped, have only increased. An example is the Pulwama blast, where 350kg of RDX was used.

The BJP keeps note of who what eats in their homes yet was not aware of how so much explosive was smuggled into the country to cause the blast in Pulwama.

You say you work for the jawans of our country. Yet look at their State. You all know how, a few months back, a video went viral of a BSF jawan complaining about the pathetic quality of his daily food. And what was the done for him? He was sacked from his job. All of you know that the same jawan has stood against Narendra Modi in Varanasi.

I challenge Modi take action against me if I have told a lie.

I don’t stab in the back; I say whatever I have to say on the face.

Over the last five years, Arpita Ghosh has come here again and again to know about your problem, and has raised your demands in Parliament. She has come here repeatedly despite the long distance from her home.

Therefore vote for her once more this time, and be assured that there will be double the development of the last five years in the next five.

There has been development in every field, in every sector, for every person.

The prime minister had promised for everyone Rs 15 lakh, but none of you can say that you have received that amount. What did you get in its stead? Waves of development, in the form of schemes like Kanyashree, Yuvashree, Rupashree, rice at Rs 2 per kg and so many others. Mamata Banerjee always delivers on her promises.

After May 23, a new government will be formed at the Centre, and rest assured that the prices of fuels and cooking gas, and GST rates will all come down.

People like Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya were allowed to loot the people’s money and escape from the country. On the other hand, Mamata Banerjee ensured that Sudipta Sen was caught, even from a far corner of Kashmir, and brought to justice.

The Centre has imposed GST on biscuits that we eat everyday at a rate of 18 per cent while on gold biscuits that only the super-rich buy, at 3 per cent. This is the real face of Modi.

Practising real Hinduism is not about teaching divisiveness, but about having confidence in its values, including that of inculcating respect for other religions.

Mamata Banerjee has done for people of all religions much more than Modi has done, even for those in BJP-ruled States.

There has been a huge improvement in the conducting of the Gangasagar Mela, and improvement in many other ways, like the creation of the Tarakeswar Develeopment Authority, construction of the international-standard Dakshineswar Skywalk, and the planning for a skywalk in Kalighat.

Modi has done a scam of Rs 3,000 crore in the name of cleaning the Ganga – Namami Gange is the name.

Yesterday, the Pakistan prime minister said Pakistan prefers Modi. And Pakistan is our enemy. The Pakistan prime minister, the ISI, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi – our enemies – all want Modi.

The BJP has sent greetings not even once on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest festival in the lives of Bengalis.

We give ‘imam bhata’ (stipend for imams) and ‘moazzem bhata’ (stipend for moazzems) taking from the Waqf board, as per the directions of the Supreme Court, and not from the tax you pay us.

Your money we spend on the various development schemes that have brought so much change on your lives.

Last year, our government had decided to give Rs 10,000 each to 28,000 Durga Puja committees in the State. Instead of supporting this decision, the BJP, CPI(M) and Congress went to court the next day, calling the move Hindu appeasement. This is the kind of care and concern they have for the people of the State.

By calling themselves Ram bhakts, the BJP people are actually insulting Ram. The real Ram did a lot of sacrifice, including spending 14 years in exile.

You be happy with your Ram, but we have our Durga, with whom stands the people of the entire country, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. You are on your way to being chased away by our Durga.

The BJP will realise May 23 what the Trinamool is really capable of.

Vote for Trinamool Congress, vote for Arpita Ghosh, and you will see a lot more development here in the coming days. Defeat every other party.

Netaji had once said – give me blood and I will give you freedom; now Mamata Banerjee has given the call for Bangla – give me 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats, and I’ll give you a progressive and secular government at the Centre

Jai Hind. Namaskar.

Trinamool’s garbage is now BJP’s pride: Abhishek Banerjee

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee today addressed two public meetings at Sitalkuchi and Tufanganj, both in Cooch Behar district.

Highlights of his speeches:

I begin by paying my respects to candidate Paresh Chandra Adhikari, blessed by our leader Mamata Banerjee, and all the leaders present here, and to all of you who have come he to attend the meeting.

Vote for Paresh Adhikari, but remember that you are actually voting for Mamata Banerjee and her positive politics.

This meeting was arranged at short notice and hence, want to thank you the more for filling this venue up to the brim.

I am very happy to see the cheerful faces all around, and this proves that only Trinamool Congress has organisational capacity in Cooch Behar; others don’t even have a fraction that capacity.

People who were once small-time bike-borne intruders now go around with the BJP’s CISF force threatening people.

The rejects of the Trinamool are now the jewels of the BJP.

And the less said about the CPI(M) and the Congress, the better.

I am requesting all of you to vote for the ‘Jora Phool’ symbol on April 11.

Across the country I’ve heard the refrain, ‘Deshi ka netri kaisi ho/Mamata Banerjee jaisi ho’.

We have fought the BJP for five years, both inside and outside the Parliament.

The source of our power is you, the people – without you there would have been no ‘poriborton’, and without you, she would not have been able to make the call for throwing the BJP out of power

Narendra Modi is coming to Siliguri today. He comes here only before elections, never otherwise, same with Surya Mishra, Somen Mitra and Dilip Ghosh.

We in the Trinamool Congress know that we have the support of the mothers and daughters here, and any party which has woman power in its support is sure to win.

We promise to bring development in Cooch Behar three times that what was done in the last five years.

Mamata Banerjee’s workers stay by your side all year round while the prime minister and his party people come here once a year, like ‘shyama poka’ before Kali Puja and Diwali.

We have to take the vow here to ensure that the candidates who nothing but fakes in saffron garb, lose so badly in the general elections that they lose even their deposits.

We help you in every way possible – be it for helping solve any major family problem or calling the fire brigade or ensuring you get your due widow pension or retirement pension or Kanyashree or Yuvashree stipend or Rupashree grant or Gatidhara or Samabyathi or Baitarani grant or Gitanjali or Nijo Bhumi Nijo Griha.

Mamata Banerjee helps people by doing developmental work irrespective of colour, caste, creed or religion.

The 2019 election is an extremely crucial election because in 2014 the prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi had shown us a grand dream, had said that two crore people would get jobs every year, that every person will get Rs 15 lakh in their account.

But the reality is that nobody has received even 15 paise, on the other hand, we have seen the BJP building a seven-start party office in Delhi by spending Rs 1,200 crore.

Our chief minister though has kept her words – university in the name of Panchanan Barma, medical and engineering colleges, roads, piped drinking water, ITSs, polytechnics, schools, madrasahs.

The prime minister of the country had earlier said that he was a tea-seller, but our chief minister still lives in a small, tile-roofed house and governs the 10 crore people of the State from there, and ensures that the wave of development reaches every one of them.

Now he’s calling himself a chowkidar. I say, the country does not need a chowkidar like him – a chowkidar under whose watch Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya and Mehul Choksi escaped from the country after looting thousands of crores of people’s money.

They haven’t been able to scare us to submission.

Netaji had said, give me your bloods and I’ll give you freedom; now Mamata Banerjee is saying, ensure for me 42 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats, and I’ll ensure a secular, forward-looking, peace-loving government at the Centre.

Eighty years ago, a Bengali leader (Netaji) had said ‘Dilli Chalo’, now 80 years later another Bengali leader (Mamata Banerjee) is saying ‘Dilli Chalo’. We must all heed her call.

Our prime minister has not done anything for the people here – why is he so callously uncaring for the people of the Chhitmahals? Why hasn’t the Centre taken any decision on the airport in Cooch Behar?

Mamata Banerjee has come here again and again, she has visited your houses even more than the local panchayat members.

No other chief minister has held administrative meetings the way Mamata Banerjee has done.

The BJP is picking up our garbage and putting them on pedestals; given ticket to a criminal here.

The people of Cooch Behar has realised that ‘chowkidar is a chor’, letting people like Nirav Modi escape while sucking his thumb.

We have to drive Modi out of the country.

Drive the BJP away – Modi is the ‘shani’’, Amit Shah the ‘rahu’’ and leaders like Dilip Ghosh and others, the ‘ketus’.

Cooking gas, kerosene, petrol all have gone up. GST has caused much loss to businesses.

The more the BJP has lost the more the prices have come down, GST has come down.

Now they have GST on biscuits we eat everyday at the rate of 18% and on gold biscuits which only the super-rich buy, at 3%.

They had thought about dividing the people of Bangla. Now they’ve realised that chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ has become useless.

Mamata Banerjee has never played with religion like the BJP has. Don’t teach us about religion.

What Mamata Banerjee has done for the Hindus, nobody else has; she has also done much for Muslims, for Sikhs, for Christians, for Jews. We have never played the politics of division.

Members of the BJP are indulging in corruption, so much so that only for them has ‘Achhe Din’ come. The wealth of Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah, has increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80 crore in a short span of time.

Narendra Modi had said that he would fight against corruption. But what do we see? He has made the candidate for Cooch Behar such a person who has 11 criminal cases against him. There can be nothing worse than this.

Mamata Banerjee is our ideal, our guiding light, and we have always walked the path shown by her. We had vowed to fight against the BJP, Congress and CPI(M), and we have kept our word.

On May 23 the BJP will realise that all the support for ‘Padma Phool’ has been converted into support for ‘Jora Phool’.

After May 23, the BJP would be wiped out of power.
