The information technology (IT) sector in Bangla is growing at a fast pace. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, there has been a lot of growth in the sector, and the Information Technology & Electronics Department is the department driving this growth.

Almost 80% overall growth in IT business: The State now has a presence of about 894 IT companies, up from nearly 500 in 2010-11, showing a rise of almost 80 per cent in the IT business.

Many of the leading IT software companies are operating and expanding their facilities in the State at the moment.

The vision: The vision of the State Government, as described in its ICT Policy 2012, is to become one of the leading States in India in the IT and ITeS, and ESDM sectors and to enable Bangla to transform into a knowledge-driven welfare society.

67 per cent growth in employment: From the financial year (FY) 2010-11 figure of 90,000, the IT sector today employs more than 1,50,000 IT professionals – a growth of about 67 per cent. The projected figure for employment for FY 2018-19 is at least 1.8 lakh, of which almost 50,000 will be covered through the IT parks developed by the State Government.

Almost 150 per cent growth in export: The total export by the IT industry of the State was Rs 21,000 crore during FY 2017-18, compared to Rs 8,500 crore during 2010-11, showing a growth of about 150 per cent in seven years.

The State Fisheries Department has taken several important measures for the welfare of fishermen, both in professional and personal aspects.

Professional welfare

Primary among the professional welfare facilities are fish transportation facilities, biometric identity cards and on-sea distress alert systems.

Fish transportation facilities: Various fish transportation facilities have been distributed by the State Government – 7,300 Jal-Hundis to inland and marine fishermen as well as among fishermen’s cooperative societies, 1,237 Matsyajans, 10,500 bicycles with insulated boxes as well as 35,000 insulated boxes.

Identity facilitation: Biometric identity cards are being issued by the Government to marine fishermen; about 2.47 lakh identity cards have already been issued. Marine fishing vessels are being registered under the provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 (for mechanised boats) and the West Bengal Marine Fishing Regulation Act, 1993 (for non-mechanised boats).

Distress alert: For the safety and security of fishermen, the Government has taken up a programme for the free distribution of distress alert transmitters (DAT), to be fitted on to the vessels. A total of 3,656 DATs have been distributed till now.

Mechanised boats: A total of 593 mechanised boats – 93 six-cylinder boats and 500 two-cylinder boats – have been distributed as of now, benefiting 3,430 marine fishermen.

Personal welfare

Several personal welfare initiatives have also been taken for fishermen and their families, including pension for the old, insurance schemes and dwelling units.

Old Age Pension Scheme: The Old Age Pension Scheme is a scheme meant for retired and infirm fishermen. Under this scheme, 56,500 fishermen are getting a pension of Rs 1,000 per month.

Accident insurance: Under Fishermen’s Group Personal Insurance Scheme, financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh is provided to the family members of deceased or untraceable marine fishermen, and Rs 1 lakh to those of permanently disabled marine fishermen. During financial year (FY) 2017-18, 2,21,563 fishermen were covered.

Dwelling units: 14,500 houses have been provided for fishermen and their families.

 

All these prove that the Trinamool Congress Government has given the utmost attention to the welfare of all fisher-folk in the State, ensuring help in every way possible.

Among the schemes started by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the people of Bengal are several welfare schemes and programmes for AIDS and HIV patients as well.

The Bengal Government provides subsidised rice at Rs 2 per kg to poor HIV patients in the state, including sex workers.

The Food Department carried out surveys last year on the basis of which it is distributing the foodgrains. Since there is stigma attached to such people, the department has ensured that the details about these people are available only to its officials. Neither the ration shop owner of the locality nor the local food inspector and officials are privy to the details.

All schools run under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) have been instructed to include students living with or diagnosed with HIV as ‘child belonging to disadvantaged group’.

The student will get similar nature of facilities that SC/ ST or minority students get, including government grants, reservation, scholarships and hostel facility.

Sex workers are a vulnerable group who are at risk of contracting HIV. The Bengal Government has launched a scheme ‘Muktir Alo’ for the rehabilitation of women who have been trafficked for prostitution.

This scheme, a brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was inaugurated by her in September 2015. It has been successful in providing succor to such women in its own small way. One such beneficiary, after receiving training, has opened a cafeteria named Mukti near the entrance of Alipore Zoo.

Similar cafeterias by beneficiaries have also been opened at other places in Kolkata – at Munshiganj in Khidderpore and at the court premises in Alipore. Another is slated to open at Bikash Bhavan in Salt Lake.

Clearly, the Bengal Government is committed to the well-being of all, and does not discriminate among beneficiaries while distributing services to people.

 

এইডস আক্রান্তদের কল্যাণসাধনের প্রতি দায়বদ্ধ বাংলার সরকার

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় রাজ্যবাসীদের জন্য বহু প্রকল্প চালু হয়েছে গত ছয় বছরে। এই প্রকল্পগুলির সুবিধা যেমন পাচ্ছেন সাধারণ মানুষ, রাজ্যের এইডস আক্রান্তরাও পান এদের সুফল।

রাজ্যে ২ টাকা কিলো দরে চাল দেওয়া হচ্ছে এইডস আক্রান্তদের এবং যৌনকর্মীদের। গত বছর খাদ্য দপ্তর সমীক্ষা করে যার ভিত্তিতে তারা খাদ্য শস্য বিতরণ করছে। যেহেতু এইডস রোগীরা সমাজে কিছুটা হলেও বঞ্চিত, তাই, তাদের ব্যক্তিগত তথ্য শুধুমাত্র এই দপ্তরের আধিকারিকদের কাছে সংরক্ষিত থাকবে। রেশন দোকান, স্থানীয় ফুড ইন্সপেক্টর, আধিকারিক – কেউই এই তথ্য জানতে পারবেন না।

এছাড়াও, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ মধ্যশিক্ষা পর্ষদের অধীনস্থ সমস্ত স্কুলগুলিকে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে এইডস আক্রান্ত পড়ুয়াদের ‘চাইল্ড বিলঙ্গিং টু ডিসএডভান্টেজ গ্রুপ’ হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করতে। তফসিলি জাতি ও উপজাতি বা সংখ্যালঘু পড়ুয়ারা যা সুযোগ সুবিধা পেয়ে থাকে – যেমন, অনুদান, সংরক্ষণ, বৃত্তি ও হোস্টেলের সুবিধা – এরাও সেই সকল সুবিধা পায়।

যৌনকর্মীদের মধ্যে এইডস সংক্রমণ হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা প্রবল। তাদের সমাজের মূল স্রোতে ফিরিয়ে আনতে ২০১৫ সালের ৪ সেপ্টেম্বর ‘মুক্তির আলো’ প্রকল্পের সূচনা করেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এই প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে স্বনির্ভর হয়ে ক্যাফেটেরিয়া খুলেছেন এক পাহাড়ি কন্যা। আলিপুর চিড়িয়াখানার প্রবেশের ঠিক মুখেই খোলা হয়েছে এই ক্যাফেটেরিয়া – নাম দেওয়া হয়েছে ‘মুক্তি’।

এই উদাহরণগুলি থেকেই বোঝা যায় এইডস আক্রান্তদের কল্যাণসাধনের প্রতি দায়বদ্ধ মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বাধীন মা, মাটি, মানুষের সরকার।

Bengal Government is soon going to launch ‘gender budgeting’. Speaking at seminar on condition of women in workplace, Dr Shashi Panja, the Minister for Women and Child Welfare, said that the government would soon launch ‘gender budgeting’.

Through this exercise the government would ascertain how many women are benefiting from various women-centric schemes, the number of female government employees, how much money is being spent on women welfare by various departments, among other things.

The data will help the government chart goals for the future and continue to work for the upliftment of women in society.

 

রাজ্যে চালু হতে চলেছে ‘জেন্ডার বাজেটিং’

রাজ্যে সরকারি চাকরি ও সরকারি প্রকল্প থেকে কত মহিলা উপকৃত হচ্ছেন তা জানতে উদ্যোগী হল রাজ্য সরকার। শনিবার একটি আলোচনাসভায় এই কথা জানান নারী ও শিশুকল্যাণ মন্ত্রী শশী পাঁজা।

তিনি বলেন, রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন দপ্তরে জেন্ডার বাজেটিং এর উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে।

কি এই জেন্ডার বাজেটিং? কন্যাশ্রী, বিধবা ভাতা, সবুজ সাথী, স্বনির্ভর যোজনার মত নানা প্রকল্পে কত মহিলা উপকৃত এবং রাজ্যের সরকারি পরিকাঠামোয় কত মহিলা কাজ করছেন, তা জানতেই এই উদ্যোগ। নানা প্রকল্পের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা কতটা পূরণ হয়েছে এবং সেটি পূরণ করতে কি কি প্লানিং দরকার সেটি ঠিক করতে পারবে সরকার।

To enable better administration, the Trinamool Congress Government created the district of Alipurduar on June 25, 2014, as West Bengal’s 20th district. As a result, people from the region are finding it much easier to access governmental services.

An administrative complex is also coming up in the district capital where all the main administrative, police and district health offices will be located.

Developments brought about in Alipurduar district by the Trinamool Congress Government during the last five years:

Health

  • Two fair price medicine shops (FPMS) at Alipurduar District Hospital and Birpara Hospital. As a result, almost 43,000 people have bought medicines at a total discount of Rs 1.24 crore.
  • Fair price diagnostic centre (FPDC) at Alipurduar District Hospital.
  • Multi superspeciality hospital being built in Falakata.

 

Education

  • Model schools being built in Kalchini and Madarihat.
  • Fifty thousand students have got bicycles under Sabuj Sathi Scheme.
  • Mid-day meals started in all schools, as a result of which health of students as well as their attendances have improved drasrically.
  • Separate toilets for boys and girls built in all schools.

 

Land Reforms, Agriculture

  • About 1,500 landless families given patta and 3,500 forest pattas given under Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi (NGNB) Scheme.
  • Almost 92% farming families given Kisan Credit Cards (KCC).
  • Krishak Bazaar: One operating in Falakata and five more being set up.

 

100 Days’ Work

  • Rs 247 crore spent to create 78 lakh man-days; Rs 133 crore more to be spent by May.

 

Panchayat and Rural Development

  • Mission Nirmal Bangla: About 22,000 toilets built as part of the scheme.

 

Minorities’ Development

  • Scholarships worth Rs 2 crore have been given to 10,000 students from minority community; scholarships to 10,000 more to be given by May.
  • To encourage self-sufficiency, Rs 3.5 crore worth loans have been given to youth from minority communities.

 

Backward Classes Welfare

  • Shikshasree Scheme: 31,000 students covered by the scheme; 37,000 more to be covered by May.

 

Kanyashree Scheme

  • Kanyashree Scheme has covered 33,500 students in the district.

 

Khadya Suraksha and Khadya Sathi

  • Eleven lakh people in Alipurduar district getting foodgrains at Rs 2 per kg.

 

Welfare for tea gardens

  • The State Government has stood by tea garden workers and their families during their time of need.
  • All tea garden workers’ families getting foodgrains at 47 paise per kg.

 

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME)

  • Three clusters for MSMEs set up: Handloom cluster in Kumargram, clusters for wooden furniture makers in Madarihat and Barvisa.

 

PWD and Transport

  • Thirty-two projects for roads, bridges, etc. worth Rs 150 crore completed by the State Government, benefitting 10 lakh people; nine more projects to be completed by May.
  • Building, renovation and widening of 200 km of roads in total completed; 150 km more to be completed by May.

 

Power & Non-conventional Energy

  • Sabar Ghare Alo: Under this project, 100% rural electrification has been achieved.

 

Irrigation

  • Dam rectification work of over 50 km completed.

 

Public Health Engineering

  • Nineteen drinking water projects undertake, of which 16 projects, worth Rs 45 crore completed; 1.5 lakh people benefitted. Rest of the three projects to be completed by May.
  • Drinking water projects in three tea gardens in Loknathpur, Jashodanga and Madarihat blocks have been set up.

 

Tourism

  • Dooars Mega Tourism Project: Four projects worth Rs 3.5 crore undertaken. First phase of projects at Ratneshwar Jhil, Bakla, Shikiajhora and Hashimara completed; second phase ongoing.

 

Labour

  • Seventy-five thousand unorganised workers were brought under the State-Assisted Scheme of Provident Fund for Unorganised Workers (SASPFUW), 46,000 construction workers, under the West Bengal Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Act (BOCWA) and 3,000 transport workers, under the West Bengal Transport Workers’ Social Security Scheme (WBTWSSS).

 

Self-help Groups (SHG)

  • Under the Anandadhara Scheme, 2,500 SHGs formed; 2,000 more to be formed by May.
  • Under Swami Vivekananda Swanirbhar Karmasuchi Scheme, 2,000 developmental projects sanctioned, worth Rs 15 crore.

 

Urban Development

  • Rs 30 crore has been spent for the development of Alipurduar Municipality. More than 400 dwellings constructed for the urban poor.

 

Information & Broadcasting

  • Twelve hundred folk artistes being given retainer fees and pensions; and about 250 more to be given soon.

 

Housing

  • Under the Gitanjali Scheme, 2,000 dwellings sanctioned for the economically weaker sections, of which 1,100 have already been constructed. The rest are to come up by May.

 

Sports & Youth Affairs

  • To improve the level of sports, 47 clubs have been given monetary assistance.
  • Alipurduar Indoor Stadium has been built at a cost of Rs 4 crore.

 

গত পাঁচ বছরে আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার উন্নয়নের খতিয়ান

২০১৪ সালে আলিপুরদুয়ারকে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের ২০তম জেলা হিসেবে ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। এর ফলে সরকারি কাজ ও পরিষেবা মানুষের কাছে আরও দ্রুততার সঙ্গে পৌঁছে যাচ্ছে।

গত পাঁচ বছরে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস পরিচালিত সরকারের আমলে আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলায় বিপুল পরিবর্তন এসেছে।

জেলা, ব্লক ও গ্রামের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে বসবাসকারী পরিবারগুলির উন্নয়নে একগুচ্ছ প্রকল্প চালু করেছে রাজ্য সরকার।

স্বাস্থ্য

  • আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলা হাসপাতাল ও বীরপাড়া হাসপাতালে ২টি ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান চালু হয়ে গেছে। এর ফলে ৪৩ হাজার মানুষ ১ কোটি ২৪ লক্ষ টাকা ছাড় পেয়েছে।
  • আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলা হাসপাতালে Fair price diagnostic centre চালু হয়ে গেছে।
  • ফালাকাটায় উন্নতমানের মাল্টি সুপার স্পেশালিটি হাসপাতাল নির্মাণের কাজ চলছে।

 

শিক্ষা

  • কালচিনি ও মাদারিহাটে নতুন মডেল স্কুল নির্মাণের কাজ চলছে।
  • এই জেলায় ৫০ হাজারেরও বেশি ছাত্র-ছাত্রীকে সবুজসাথী প্রকল্পে সাইকেল প্রদান করা হচ্ছে।
  • সব স্কুলে মিড ডে মিল চলছে যার ফলে পুষ্টি এবং ছাত্রছাত্রীদের উপস্থিতির হার বেড়েছে এবং স্কুল ছুট ছাত্রের সংখ্যা কমেছে।
  • প্রতিটি বিদ্যালয়ে ছেলে ও মেয়েদের জন্যও পৃথক শৌচাগার নির্মিত হয়েছে।

 

ভূমি সংস্কার ও কৃষি

  • এই জেলায় প্রায় ১৫০০ যোগ্য ভূমিহীন পরিবারের হাতে ‘নিজ গৃহ নিজ ভূমি’ প্রকল্পে পাট্টা তুলে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এই জেলায় প্রায় ৩৫০০ পাট্টা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
  • এই জেলার প্রায় ৯২% কৃষক পরিবারকে কিষাণ ক্রেডিট কার্ডের আওতাভুক্ত করা হয়েছে।
  • কৃষক বাজার – ফালাকাটায় একটি কৃষক বাজার চালু হয়ে গেছে।

 

১০০ দিনের কাজ

এই জেলায় বিভিন্ন ব্লকে ১০০ দিনের কাজে ২৪৭ কোটি টাকা ব্যয় করে প্রায় ৭৮ লক্ষ শ্রম দিবস সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।

পঞ্চায়েত ও গ্রামোন্নয়ন

মিশন নির্মল বাংলা – এই প্রকল্পে প্রায় ২২ হাজার শৌচাগার নির্মাণ সম্পূর্ণ হয়েছে।

সংখ্যালঘু উন্নয়ন

  • বিগত দেড় বছরে ১০ হাজারের বেশি সংখ্যালঘু ছাত্রছাত্রীকে প্রায় ২ কোটি টাকা বৃত্তি প্রদান করা হয়েছে।
  • এছাড়া স্বনির্ভরতার জন্য সংখ্যালঘু যুবক-যুবতীদের সাড়ে ৩ কোটি টাকা ঋণ প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

 

অনগ্রসর কল্যাণ –

‘শিক্ষাশ্রী’ প্রকল্পের আওতায় এই জেলার প্রায় ৬১ হাজার ছাত্র-ছাত্রী সহায়তা পাচ্ছে।

কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প

নবগঠিত আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলায় সাড়ে ৩৩ হাজারেরও বেশি ছাত্রী কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্পের সহায়তায় এসেছে।

খাদ্য সুরক্ষা কর্মসূচী

‘খাদ্যসাথী’ প্রকল্পের আওতায় এই জেলায় প্রায় ১১ লক্ষ মানুষ ২ টাকা কেজি দরে খাদ্যশস্য পাচ্ছেন।

চা বাগান

চা শ্রমিক ও তাদের পরিবারের পাশে দাঁড়িয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার।

শিল্প

জেলায় ক্ষুদ্র, ছোট ও মাঝারি উদ্যোগের ৩টি ক্লাস্টার গড়ে উঠেছে, এগুলি হল – কুমারগ্রাম হ্যান্ডলুম ক্লাস্টার, মাদারিহাট ও বারভিসা।

পূর্ত ও পরিবহণ

  • বিগত সাড়ে চার বছরে এই জেলায় পূর্ত দপ্তর ৫০টি রাস্তাঘাট, ব্রিজ ইত্যাদি প্রকল্প রূপায়নের কাজ হাতে নিয়েছে, এর মধ্যে ৩টি প্রকল্পের কাজ প্রায় ১৫০কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ইতিমধ্যেই সম্পন্ন হয়েছে।
  • জেলার সড়ক ব্যবস্থা উন্নয়নে ২০০ কিমি রাস্তা পুনর্নির্মাণ/সম্প্রসারণ হয়েছে। আরও ১৫০ কিমি রাস্তার কাজ আগামী মে মাসের মধ্যে সম্পন্ন হবে।

 

বিদ্যুৎ ও অচিরাচরিত শক্তি

সমগ্র জেলায় ‘সবার ঘরে আলো’ প্রকল্পে ১০০% গ্রামীণ বৈদ্যুতিকরণের কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়ে গেছে।

সেচ

এই জেলায় ৫০ কিমি দৈর্ঘ্যের বাঁধ সংরক্ষণের কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়েছে।

জনস্বাস্থ্য কারিগরী

  • বিগত সাড়ে চার বছরে ১৯টি জল প্রকল্পের কাজ শুরু হয়েছে, এর মধ্যে ৪৫ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ১৬টির কাজ সমাপ্ত হয়েছে। বাকিগুলি আগামী মে মাসের মধ্যে সম্পন্ন হয়ে যাবে।
  • লোকনাথপুর, যশোডাঙ্গা ও মাদারিহাটে পানীয় জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্পের কাজ শেষ হয়েছে।

 

পর্যটন

এই জেলায় ডুয়ার্স মেগা ট্যুরিজম প্রজেক্ট-এর অন্তর্গত প্রায় সাড়ে ৩ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ৪টি প্রকল্পের কাজ চলছে। রত্নেশ্বর ঝিল, বাকলা, শিকিয়াঝোড়া এবং হাসিমারা এই প্রকল্পগুলির প্রথম পর্যায়ের কাজ শেষ হয়েছে, দ্বিতীয় পর্যায়ের কাজ চলছে।

শ্রম

এই জেলায় SASPFUW প্রকল্পে ৭৫০০০ অসংগঠিত কর্মী নথিভুক্ত হয়েছে। BOCWA প্রকল্পে ৪৬০০০ এর বেশি নির্মাণ কর্মী নথিভুক্ত হয়েছে। WBTWSSS প্রকল্পে ৩০০০ এর বেশি পরিবহণ কর্মী নথিভুক্ত হয়েছে।

স্বনির্ভর দল ও স্বনিযুক্তি

  • আনন্দধারা প্রকল্পে আড়াই হাজারেরও বেশি স্বনির্ভর দল গঠিত হয়েছে। আগামী মে মাসের মধ্যে আরও ২০০০ স্বনির্ভর দল গঠিত হয়ে যাবে।
  • বিগত সাড়ে চার বছরে স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ স্বনির্ভর কর্মসূচী প্রকল্পে ২ হাজার উদ্যোগ প্রকল্পের অনুমোদন দেওয়া হয়েছে এবং ১৫ কোটি টাকা অনুদান প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

 

পুর ও নগরোন্নয়ন

এই জেলায় মিউনিসিপ্যালিটি ৩০ কোটি টাকারও বেশি পরিকল্পনা খাতে ব্যয় করেছে। শহরাঞ্চলে ৪০০-র বেশি বাসস্থান নির্মিত হয়েছে।

তথ্য ও সংস্কৃতি

বর্তমানে এই জেলায় ১২০০ জন লোকশিল্পী রিটেনার ফি ও পেনশন পাচ্ছেন। আরও প্রায় ২৫০ জন লোকশিল্পী রিটেনার ফি ও পেনশন পেতে চলেছেন।

আবাসন

আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলায় গীতাঞ্জলি ও অন্যান্য প্রকল্পে প্রায় ২০০০ বাসস্থান নির্মিত হচ্ছে, এর মধ্যে প্রায় ১১০০ বাসস্থানের কাজ নির্মাণ কাজ ইতিমধ্যে সমাপ্ত হয়ে গেছে।

ক্রীড়া ও যুব কল্যাণ

  • ক্রীড়ার মান উন্নয়নে জেলায় জেলায় ৪৭টি ক্লাবকে অর্থ সাহায্য করা হয়েছে।
  • জেলায় ২৪টি মাল্টি জিম সেন্টার গড়ে তুলতে ৪৮ লক্ষ টাকা প্রদান করা হয়েছে।

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday conducted a meeting with the Tribes Advisory Council (TAC) to discuss the welfare and advancement of the scheduled tribes in the state. The Chief Minister is on a three-day visit to the Hills.

After the meeting, the West Bengal Chief Minister said, “This is a routine meeting. A meeting of the same type had been earlier conducted in Jaldapahar, on Wednesday it was conducted in Darjeeling, and the next one will be conducted in Jangalmahal. We have done several development work for tribal people. The new tribes who pluck kendu leaves receive government premiums, and also receive a pension of Rs.2,00,000 once they reach 60 years of age. For the tribal families living in Jangalmahal, rice can be purchased at only Rs.2 a kilo”, adding, “Many advantages are given to the scheduled tribe and scheduled caste people with regard to employment as well. The tribal department provides pension to 1,30,000 people, among whom 200 are from the tea gardens and closed down factories.”

The West Bengal Chief Minister also said that a committee comprising a group of ministers has already been formed to look into the problems of the tea garden.”Tribal Bhawans are being constructed in six districts across Bengal. One is being constructed at Rajarghat in Kolkata as well,” she added.

In may be mentioned that Lal Kothi has seen the presence of eminent personalities like R Venkataraman, former President and Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister, in the past. The West Bengal Chief Minister, expressing happiness to be visiting Lal Kothi had said on Wednesday, that although she never got an opportunity to visit it previously, she had heard a lot about it. After the meeting, she went for a walk around Lal Kothi and remarked that the place is very beautiful. On completion of her tour around Lal Kothi, West Bengal Chief Minister headed towards Tiger Hill.
