The Bengal State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee called an urgent press conference on Monday night and said that all schools in West Bengal irrespective of boards would have to have three languages from Class I to X, one of which would have to be Bengali.

“From now, every student would compulsorily need to learn Bengali in schools. English medium schools will have Bengali as an optional subject, either as a second or third language, from Class I,” the Education Minister said. Every student would compulsorily need to learn Bengali in schools, he said.

The seven languages offered in schools affiliated to the West Bengal board at present are Bengali, English, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Alchiki and Gurumukhi.

According to the new rule, students who have any other language other than Bengali as their first language, would have to opt for two more languages, one of which would have to be Bengali.

It has been decided because we have received complaints that Bengali language was not an option at several schools here,” the Education Minister said.

He also said that legalities of the decision were being looked into and he was hopeful that a clearance by the state cabinet would be good enough to put it in force.

India is a vast country and the strength of our nation is unity in diversity. We must respect every mother tongue and also give every regional language its importance. We believe in the freedom of choice and the three language formula.

Students have the freedom to take any language of their choice as a first language, second or third language.

If the student choses Bengali, Hindi, English, Urdu , Gurmukhi, Nepali, Alchiki as a first language, he/she may opt for two other languages of their choice. One of the three languages would have to be Bengali.The two other choices are completely dependent on what the students chooses.

This method would enable them to reach regional, national and international standards.

 

 

রাজ্যের সমস্ত স্কুলে দশম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত ‘বাংলা’ বাধ্যতামূলক করল রাজ্য সরকার

সোমবার সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন করে শিক্ষামন্ত্রী পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায় ঘোষণা করেন এবার থেকে রাজ্যে সব স্কুলে দ্বিতীয় বা তৃতীয় আবশ্যিক ভাষা হিসেবে পড়ানো হবে বাংলা। রাজ্যের সব মাধ্যম স্কুলের জন্যই চালু হচ্ছে ত্রিভাষা নীতি।

এদিন তিনি বলেন, “বৈচিত্রের মধ্যে ঐক্য ভারতের শক্তি। প্রতিটি মাতৃভাষার প্রতি আমরা শ্রদ্ধাশীল। এবং প্রতিটি আঞ্চলিক ভাষার গুরুত্ব আছে। আমাদের বিশ্বাস, প্রতিটি ছাত্র ছাত্রীর নিজস্ব ভাষা চয়নের স্বাধীনতা আছে। ছাত্রসমাজের স্বাধীনতা আছে তারা তাদের মতো প্রথম, দ্বিতীয় বা তৃতীয় ভাষা হিসেবে যে কোনও ভাষা চয়ন করতে পারবে”।

“বাংলা, হিন্দি বা ইংরেজি, উর্দু, নেপালি, গুরুমুখী কিংবা অলচিকিকে প্রথম ভাষা হিসেবে চয়ন করলে ছাত্র বা ছাত্রীটিকে আরও দুটি ভাষাকে তাদের পছন্দমতো চয়ন করতে হবেএবং ত্রিভাষার মধ্যে বাংলা ভাষা থাকতে হবে। এই প্রক্রিয়ায় ছাত্রসমাজের পক্ষে আঞ্চলিক, জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক মানে পৌছনো সহজ হবে” মন্ত্রী বলেন।

রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চল থেকে যেখানে জানা গেছে অনেক স্কুলে বাংলা ভাষা চয়ন করার কোনও সুযোগ নেই বলে অনেক অভিযোগ এসেছে তাই এই সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। রাজ্য মন্ত্রিসভা এই সিদ্ধান্তের অনুমোদন দিলে, খুব শীঘ্রই এই নিয়ম চালু করা হবে।

Bengal has created a record in thalassaemia testing – 6.5 lakh people have been tested in the last four years. This data was recently revealed by the State Health Department.

There are 21 thalassaemia-testing centres in the State, where anyone can go and have themselves tested. As an encouraging sign, more and more people from all walks of life are coming forward to have themselves tested for the presence of the disease.

Basically, there are three categories of people who come for testing – couples wanting to get married, couples planning to have children and couples who already have a thalassaemia-affected child and don’t want to have another such.

Doctors also hold regular thalassaemia awareness and testing camps in schools and colleges all over the State.

There are 25,000 thalassaemia-affected people in the State.

থ্যালাসেমিয়া পরীক্ষায় এবার রেকর্ড গড়ল বাংলা। রাজ্য স্বাস্থ্য দপ্তর সূত্রে এ খবর জানা গেছে গত ৪ বছরে সাড়ে ছয় লাখের থ্যালাসেমিয়া পরীক্ষা হয়েছে বাংলায়।

কলকাতা ও জেলা মিলিয়ে বর্তমানে রাজ্যের ২১টি জায়গায় থ্যালাসেমিয়া পরীক্ষা করা হয়। সেখানে এসে বহু মানুষ থ্যালাসেমিয়া পরীক্ষা করিয়ে যাচ্ছেন।

মূলত তিন ধরনের মানুষ আসছেন। এক, বিয়ে হতে চলা দম্পতি, সন্তান গ্রহণের কথা ভাবা দম্পতি এবং একটি সন্তান থ্যালাসেমিয়া আক্রান্ত হওয়ায় দ্বিতীয়বার যাতে সে ভুল না হয়, সেকথা ভেবে সচেতন হওয়া স্বামী-স্ত্রী।

স্কুল কলেজ সহ সমগ্র রাজ্য জুড়ে সর্বস্তরে সচেতনতা বাড়াতে বিভিন্ন রকম প্রচার চালাচ্ছেন ডাক্তাররা।

বর্তমানে সরকারী হিসাব অনুযায়ী, রাজ্যে ২৫ হাজার থ্যালাসেমিয়া রোগী আছে।

A new method of deep-sea pisciculture is soon going to be introduced in Bengal – cage culture. As the name suggests, the practice consists of culturing fish inside big floating cages in the middle of the sea. This type of fish culture is being successfully practiced in Norway, Thailand, Japan, the Philippines, etc.

The project is in the pilot stage. Two 4.5 metre-diameter cages made out of GI pipes and Netlon mesh have been set up 2 km off the coast of Mandarmani. The cages are covered with nets to prevent sea birds from feeding on the fish. They are tied down with buoys to provide stability. Each cage is going to last eight to ten years.

Hatchlings for the pilot project would be released in September, which would grow to the right size – 1 to 1.5 kg – within six months. Mostly, bhetki and pomfret would be reared in these cages, since these are fishes in high demand and are costly as well. Such deep-sea culture in large numbers would bring down the prices.

This is also being encouraged to bring down the pressure on the lakes and inland hatcheries; culture in the open seas would have no environmental impact.

Scientists are also researching the viability of culturing pearls in the cages.

In the State, the West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences is in charge of the project, which is a part of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-led All India Network Project on Mariculture. Five other States are part of the project.

মাঝসমুদ্রে খাঁচায় মাছ চাষ করবে রাজ্য মৎস্য দপ্তর। মাঝসমুদ্রে ভাসছে খাঁচা আর সেখানে খেলা করছে মাছ। সেই মাছ যাতে বেরিয়ে না যায় বা অন্য কোনও জলজ প্রাণী সেখানে ঢুকে পড়তে না পরে, সেজন্য ঘিরে রাখা হয়েছে সেটিকে।নরওয়ে, থাইল্যান্ড, জাপান, ফিলিপিন্সে অনেক আগেই এ ধরনের কাজে অনেক সফল হয়েছে।

আগামী দিনে সমুদ্রে মাছ চাষের ক্ষেত্রে জোর দিতে হবে। সেখানে জায়গার কোনও অভাব হবে না!‌ তাই বিজ্ঞানীরা বেছে নিয়েছেন সমুদ্রকে। কী করে মাছের উৎপাদন আরও বাড়ানো যায় তাই নিয়ে চর্চা চলছে। ইন্ডিয়ান কাউন্সিল অফ এগ্রিকালচারাল রিসার্চের অল ইন্ডিয়া নেটওয়ার্ক প্রজেক্ট অফ মেরিকালচারের অন্তর্গত এই প্রকল্পটি। বিশেষজ্ঞদের কাছে যা পরিচিত ‘কেজ কালচার’ নামে‌।

এটি একটি পাইলট প্রজেক্ট। বছরের শুরুতে বসানো হয়েছে জিআই পাইপ আর নেটলন দিয়ে তৈরী খাঁচা।  মন্দারমনির সমুদ্রের পাড়ে ২ কিমি দূরে তৈরী করা হচ্ছে এটি। আপাতত বসানো হয়েছে সাড়ে চার মিটার ব্যাসের দুটি খাঁচা। ভাসমান ওই খাঁচা ৮–১০ বছর টিকবে।  তবে নোঙর দিয়ে বেঁধে রাখা হয়েছে যাতে সেটি জলতরঙ্গে ভেসে না যায়।

সেখানে পুজোর আগেই ছাড়া হবে মাছের চারা। মাস ছয়েকের মধ্যে তা বড় হয়ে যাবে। ভেটকি, পমফ্রেটের মতো মাছ চাষ করা হবে। কারণ বাজারে এগুলির চাহিদা রয়েছে। দামও বেশি। এই পদ্ধতিতে চাষ করার খরচ কম হবে বলে আশা করছেন প্রকল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত আধিকারিকরা। এক–একটি মাছের ওজন হবে এক থেকে দেড় কেজি। এমনই হিসেব বিশেষজ্ঞদের।

মুক্তো চাষেরও চেষ্টা করে দেখছেন বিজ্ঞানীরা। স্থানীয় মাছ ব্যবসায়ীদেরও যুক্ত করা হচ্ছে। তাঁদের প্রশিক্ষণেরও ব্যবস্থা করা হচ্ছে। এছাড়া, আরও ৫টি রাজ্যের এই প্রকল্পের কাজ চলছে।

The famed attar-makers of Chitpore are a vanishing tribe. So are the traditional surma and zarda makers.

There was a time these craftsmen were much in demand for their skill and knowledge, be it at kings’ courts or in zamindar’s houses. It was traditional business, passed down from generation to generation.

Now, Biswa Bangla Marketing Corporation, part of the Bengal Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles Department, has taken it upon itself to identify the families skilled in the making of these items in Chitpore and promote them, by linking them with the State Government schemes, both in the national and the international markets.

These items from Chitpore are already being sold at the Biswa Bangla stores, and the numbers are very encouraging too. During 2014-15, Rs 17 lakh worth attar was sold, which rose to Rs 40 lakh during 2015-16.

During 2014-15, 44,000 attar-scented soaps were sold, a number which leapt to 10 lakh in 2015-16. Similarly, for surma, the sales climbed from Rs 88,000 to Rs 1 lakh.

The demand for attar and surma from Chitpore rose by 54 per cent and 94 per cent, respectively. Hence, the department has planned these ventures to further cultivate these traditional manufacturers.

Through these enterprises, the State Government is creating ‘Brand Chitpore’ – preserving the rich culture and heritage of Bengal.

The Biswa Bangla brand is the brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and it has set a benchmark in India for promoting, selling and preserving the traditional arts and crafts of a State.

 

 

 

এবার বিশ্ববাংলার দরবারে চিৎপুরের আতর, সুর্মা

 

চিৎপুর বরাবরই বিখ্যাত ছিল আতর ,সুর্মা প্রস্তুতকারীদের জন্য।

সে ছিল এক কলকাতা, যখন শৌখিন বাবুয়ানি চিৎপুরের বাছাই করা আতরের খুশবুতে মাতোয়ারা হতো। বহুদিনধরে বংশপরম্পরাগত ভাবে এই ব্যবসা চলে আসছে।

রাজ্যের অতি ক্ষুদ্র, ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি শিল্প ও বস্ত্র দফতরের অন্তর্গত বিশ্ব বাংলা মার্কেটিং কর্পোরেশনের তত্বাবধানে প্রকৃত কারিগর পরিবারগুলিকে চিহ্নিত করা, তাঁদের সরকারি প্রকল্পের সঙ্গে যুক্ত করা এবং দেশি ও বিদেশি বাজারে তাদের তুলে ধরার কাজ শুরু করেছে।

বিশ্ব বাংলার বিপণিগুলিতে ‘চিৎপুর’ ব্র্যান্ড-এ শুরু হয়েছিল খাস চিৎপুরের আতর, আতরের তৈরি সাবান, সুর্মা, গোলাপ জলের বিক্রি দিয়ে । তাতেই দু’বছরের মধ্যে কিস্তিমাত।

বিশ্ব বাংলার শোরুমগুলির পরিসংখ্যান জানাচ্ছে, ২০১৪-’১৫ সালে ১৭ লক্ষ টাকার আতর বিক্রি হয়েছিল। ২০১৬-’১৭ সালে তা দাঁড়িয়েছে ৪০ লক্ষ টাকা। আতরের সুগন্ধী সাবান ২০১৪-’১৫ সালে বিক্রি হয়েছিল ৪৪ হাজার। গত আর্থিক বছরে তা হয়েছে ১০ লক্ষ! সুর্মার বিক্রি বছরে ৮৮ হাজার থেকে বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ১ লক্ষে। গত দু’বছরের চিৎপুরের আতরের চাহিদা ৫৪% ও সুর্মার চাহিদা ৯৪% বেড়েছে।

এই সাফল্য দেখে চিৎপুরের জর্দা আর গিলে করা পাঞ্জাবীর ঐতিহ্যকেও উদ্ধার করা নিয়ে ভাবনা শুরু হয়েছে। ইতিমধ্যে কয়েক ঘর শিল্পীকেও চিহ্নিত করা হয়েছে যাঁরা বংশ পরম্পরায় এই কাজ করে এসেছেন।

বিশ্ববাংলা ব্র্যান্ড মূলত মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জি উদ্ভাবন এবং এটি রাষ্ট্রীয় ঐতিহ্যবাহী শিল্প ও কারুশিল্পের প্রচার, বিক্রয় ও সংরক্ষণের জন্য ভারতে একটি বেঞ্চমার্ক স্থাপন করেছে।

Bhatora, the lone island area in Howrah district, got the perfect gift for Mother’s Day yesterday – a waiting hub for pregnant women. The island is surrounded by the rivers Mundewari and Rupnarayan.

This is the fourth such waiting hub, or waiting hut, as it is also called, being set up by the State Government, after the three set up in the Sundarbans.

This is a crucial addition to the health infrastructure of the region. Deliveries would be carried out at the hub by a team of doctors and nurses. The team will function round the clock. The hub will have the capacity to accommodate 10 pregnant women at a time.

This is another step towards ensuring 100 per cent institutional delivery in Howrah district – at present it is 96.1 per cent.

Presently, pregnant women from the island, which has a population of around 25,000, have to be taken across the Mundeswari River to hospitals in Joypur or Bagnan.

 

গর্ভবতী মহিলাদের জন্য আরও একটি ওয়েটিং হাব তৈরী করছে রাজ্য সরকার

হাওড়া জেলার ভাতোরা দ্বীপে গর্ভবতী মহিলাদের জন্য একটি ওয়েটিং হাব তৈরী করছে রাজ্য সরকার। মুণ্ডেশ্বরী ও রূপনারায়ণ নদী বেষ্টিত এই দ্বীপ। গতকাল মাতৃ দিবসের উপলক্ষে এই উপহার পেল হাওড়া জেলা।

এই নিয়ে ৪টি ওয়েটিং হাব তৈরী করল রাজ্য সরকার। এর আগে সুন্দরবনে তিনটি ওয়েটিং হাব তৈরী করা হয়েছে।

এই জেলার স্বাস্থ্য পরিকাঠামোয় এটি একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সংযোজন। এখানেই ডেলিভারি করানো হবে। ডাক্তার ও নার্সদের একটি টিম দিনরাত্রি এখানে উপস্থিত থাকবে। একসাথে ১০ জন গর্ভবতী মহিলার চিকিৎসা হবে এই হাবে।

হাওড়া জেলায় ইন্সটিটিউশন ডেলিভারি ১০০ শতাংশ করার জন্য এই পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হয়েছে। বর্তমানে হাওড়া জেলায় ইন্সটিটিউশন ডেলিভারি ৯৬.১ শতাংশ।

এই এলাকার জনসংখ্যা প্রায় ২৫০০০। এখানকার গর্ভবতী মহিলাদের মুণ্ডেশ্বরী নদী পাড় হয়ে যেতে হয় জয়পুর বা বাগনানের হাসপাতালে। এটি তৈরী হলে সেই সমস্যা আর থাকবে না।

To reduce conflict between human and wild animals in the more forested regions of the State, the Bengal Forest department has taken up an elaborate scheme to construct toilets for the people living in forests and adjoining areas.

After conducting a thorough research, Forest Department officials have found that in many cases, villagers died after being attacked by elephants and other animals while entering the forest for open defecation.

Therefore, to check the human-animal conflicts in these areas, the department has decided to construct toilets in every household situated in the vicinity of forests in all the subdivisions.

The project has already been completed in the Baikunthapur forest division in North Bengal, where 350 households situated in forested areas have had toilets constructed in their homes.

In October 2014, the State Government had launched Mission Nirmal Bangla, a brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Under this, various sanitation projects were taken up at different levels, including setting targets for various departments to achieve cleanliness and sanitation by forming administrative mechanisms for the same.

 

মানুষ-পশু সংঘাত এড়াতে বনাঞ্চলে অভিনব উদ্যোগ বন দপ্তরের

মানুষ ও বন্য প্রাণীদের সংঘাত এড়াতে বনাঞ্চলের বাসিন্দাদের জন্য আরও শৌচালয় নির্মাণের সিদ্ধান্ত নিল বন দপ্তর।

বহু ক্ষেত্রে দেখা গেছে যে স্থানীয় মানুষ শৌচকর্ম করতে জঙ্গলে গেলে অনেক সময়ই বন্য প্রানী দ্বারা আক্রান্ত হন। তাই বন দপ্তর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বনাঞ্চলে বসবাসকারী পরিবারগুলির জন্য শৌচাগার নির্মাণ করার।

এই প্রকল্পের কাজ উত্তরবঙ্গের বৈকুন্ঠপুর বনাঞ্চলে ইতিমধ্যেই শেষ হয়েছে। সেখানে ৩৫০ টি পরিবারের জন্য শৌচালয় নির্মাণ হয়েছে।

Bengal is going solar this time to run generators that will pump water to a reservoir uphill in Purulia’s Ayodhya Hills during off peak hours, 10 years after the successful installation of Purulia Pumped Storage Project. The state power department will set up a 1,000MW solar-hydro power project when the existing project is a thermal-hydro mix.

The proposal was cleared in the state cabinet meeting on Monday. The purpose of this multifunction power plant is to pave the way for energy generation without fossil carriers — a first of its kind in the country — when Bengal has a lopsided 96:4 thermal-hydro ratio in power generation.

The objective is to use the afternoon sunlight to run turbines to lift stored water from a reservoir at a lower altitude in Ayodhya Hills to a reservoir on the upper side during off-peak hours that can help meeting the peak demand. Planned to be installed within 81 months from Monday, the second project is being funded by the Japan Bank of International Cooperation (JICA).

“This will be the first solar-driven pumped storage project in the country — clean and green. The project has been estimated at Rs 4650.79 crore. The state government will bear 15% of the project cost while the rest will come from JICA,” State Power Minister Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay said. The generated energy will be wheeled to the power grid to meet the peak demand.

 

পরিবেশ বান্ধব বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদনে জোর রাজ্য সরকারের

রাজ্যে এই প্রথম স্বচ্ছ ও সবুজ বিদ্যুৎ তৈরী হবে অযোধ্যা পাহাড়ে। পুরুলিয়ার অযোধ্যা পাহাড়ে পরিবেশ বান্ধব ১০০০ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন সৌর বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র গড়ে উঠছে।

সোমবার মন্ত্রীসভার বৈঠকে এই অনুমোদন মিলেছে। ২৫০ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন ৪টি পাম্প বসানো হবে। এই প্রকল্পের মোট সময়সীমা ধরা হয়েছে ৮১ মাস। প্রকল্পের জন্য খরচ হবে ৮৬৫০.৬৯ কোটি টাকা।

এর আগে পুরুলিয়ায় ৯০০ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন ক্ষমতা সম্পন্ন বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র তৈরী হয়েছে। তবে নতুন প্রকল্পটি সম্পূর্ণ আলাদা। এতদিন পুরুলিয়ায় অযোধ্যা পাহাড়ের টুর্গায় তাপবিদ্যুতের মাধ্যমে জলকে উঠিয়ে তা জলবিদ্যুতে নামানো হত। এবার সৌরবিদ্যুতের মাধ্যমে জল উঠিয়ে আপার ড্যামে জলবিদ্যুতের মাধ্যমে নামানোর পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে সরকার।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে সৌরশক্তিকে ব্যবহার এই যুগান্তকারী পদক্ষেপ এই প্রথম।

একইসঙ্গে সাগরদিঘি প্রকল্পে আরও ৬৫০ মেগাওয়াট উৎপাদন হবে। মূলত ২০২২ সালের দিকে তাকিয়ে এই পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। এর ফলে ভবিষ্যতে বিদ্যুতের চাহিদা মিটবে।

Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is setting up its first blood bank – to be located in south Kolkata, at 242 Kalighat Road.

Councillors of all wards of the corporation organise blood donation camps all through the year. Now these blood units would be stored at the new blood bank, the advantage being that the units would be available at the State Government-determined rates, which are lower at those at private hospitals and blood banks.

The chemical treatments required for proper storage of the blood and blood components would be carried out at private hospitals KMC would tie up with.

This step is meant to help not only the city residents but people from all over the State, especially the poor, who cannot afford high prices.

 

দক্ষিণ কলকাতায় প্রথম ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক তৈরী করবে কলকাতা পুরসভা

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নির্দেশে এই প্রথম ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক তৈরী করতে চলেছে কলকাতা পুরসভা । দক্ষিণ কলকাতার ২৪২,কালীঘাট রোডে ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কটি তৈরী করা হবে।

এর আগে কলকাতা পুরসভার কোনও ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক ছিল না। সংগৃহীত রক্ত সংরক্ষণের জন্য যে সমস্ত প্রক্রিয়াকরণের প্রয়োজন হয় তার জন্য বেসরকারি হাসপাতালের সঙ্গে যৌথভাবে এই কাজ করা হবে।

কলকাতা পুরসভার সব ওয়ার্ডের কাউন্সিলররাই প্রতি বছর বিভিন্ন সময়ে ব্লাড ডোনেশান ক্যাম্প করে থাকেন। সেই সমস্ত সংগৃহিত রক্তই জমা করা হবে পুরসভার তৈরী করা ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কে।

এর ফলে শহরের বেসরকারী ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কগুলিতে যে অৰ্থের বিনিময়ে রক্ত দেওয়া হয় ,তার থেকে কম দামে ,অথাৎ সরকারি দামে এখান থেকে রক্ত দেওয়া হবে।

আলো ,রাস্তা ,নিকাশি এবং জল সরবরাহ পরিষেবার মতোই ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক পরিষেবাও কলকাতা পুরসভার একটি বাড়তি পরিষেবা। কলকাতা পুরসভার অন্তর্গত বাসিন্দারা এর ফলে যেমন উপকৃত হবেন ,তেমনই দূর -দূরান্ত থেকে আসা মানুষজনও এর দ্বারা উপকৃত হবেন।

কলকাতায় ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্কের চাহিদা রয়েছে। গরিব, মধ্যবিত্ত মানুষদের পরিষেবা দেওয়ার মতো স্বার্থের কথা ভেবেই এই প্রথম কলকাতা পুরসভা ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক তৈরী করার প্রয়াস নিয়েছে।

Today is Mother’s Day. The second Sunday of May is celebrated the world over as a tribute to the mother who selflessly devotes all her life to the well-being of her child.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has conveyed her greetings through social media to all mothers.

She has also written a poem titled ‘Maa’, dedicated to all mothers.

The poem is reproduced below.

Maa amader aswosto bani
Ofuronto maayer bhalobasa
Amader jogar banchar asha

Mayer mukh sworgosukh
Bhuliye deye sokol dukh
Maayer bodon molin hole
Sob hoye jay golmele

মাতৃ দিবসে সকল মায়েদের শুভেচ্ছা জানালেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃ দিবস। প্রতি বছর মে মাসের দ্বিতীয় রবিবার মাতৃ দিবস পালিত হয়।

মাতৃ দিবস উপলক্ষে সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় সকল মায়েদের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

এই উপলক্ষে তিনি একটি কবিতাও লিখেছেন। কবিতাটির নাম ‘মা’।

 

‘মা’

যতই দেখি ততই জানি
মা আমাদের আশ্বস্ত বাণী
অফুরন্ত মায়ের ভালোবাসা
আমাদের জোগাড় বাঁচার আশা।

মায়ের মুখ স্বর্গ সুখ,
ভুলিয়ে দেয় সকল দুখ,
মায়ের বদন মলিন হলে
সব হয়ে যায় গোলমেলে।

অসুস্থ হলে মায়ের হাত,
স্নেহভরা ভালোবাসার ছাপ
দুঃসময়ে মায়ের আঁচল,
আড়াল করে বিপদ সকল
‘মা’ যে মোদের ‘মা’,
মমত্বভরা হাসি নিয়েই অনুপ্রেরণা দাও মা।

মা যার নেই সে বড় একেলা,
ব্যাথার সময় যায় না দুঃখকে ভোলা,
মায়ের ডাক, আসল ডাক
পিছু ডাকলেও আশীর্বাদ।

মা কে যারা ভালোবাসে না,
স্নেহ কি জিনিস তারা জানে না,
মায়ের মন, সন্তানের ধন,
মা যে মোদের মা,
যতই দেখি ততই ভাবি
স্বাদ তবু মেটে না।

Mother’s Wax Museum in New Town has instituted a Mother’s Day gift this year – free passes to mothers and their kids.

On Mother’s Day, celebrated all over the world on May 14, many children take their mothers out for treats. So, those kids who would visit Café Ekante at Eco Park, opposite the wax museum, with their mothers, would be given two free tickets for Mother’s Wax Museum.

HIDCO, the Bengal Government agency which looks after the museum as well as Eco Park, has instituted this gift.

মাতৃদিবসে মায়েদের জন্য মাদার্স ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়ামে ফ্রি পাস

আজ মাদার্স ডে-র উপলক্ষে মাদার্স ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়ামে নতুন এক পদ্ধতিতে পালন করার জন্য ব্যাবস্থা করেছে হিডকো। জানা গিয়েছে, এই দিনে মা এবং তার সন্তানকে একসঙ্গে করে মাদার টেরেজার মোমের মূর্তিতে মাল্যদান করা হবে। তাও যারা করবেন তাঁদের জন্য বিনামূল্যে প্রবেশ করার সুযোগ করে দিয়েছে হিডকো।

এই গরমের দিনে খাটি বাঙালি খাবারের জন্য নিউটাউনে হিডকো বছর খানেক আগেই তৈরি করেছিল ক্যাফে একান্তে নামক একটি রেস্তোরাঁ। যেখানে বছরের নানা সময়ের সঙ্গে তাল মিলিয়ে খাবার পাওয়া যায়। তাই ওই দিন যারা ক্যাফে একান্তে রেস্তোরাতে খেতে যাবেন তাদেরকে দুটি করে মাদার্স ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়ামের জন্য বিনামূল্যে পাস দেওয়া হবে।

প্রসঙ্গত মাদার্স ডে-র দিনে অনেক সন্তানই তাঁর মাকে একটা ভাল ট্রিট দিতে চায়। তাই ওই দিন এমনিতেই যে ক্যাফে একান্তে রেস্তোরাঁতে ভিড় বাড়বে তা আগে থেকেই জানে কর্তৃপক্ষ। সেই কারণে মাদার্স ডে-তে যাতে ‘মা’কে তার সন্তান আরও ভাল কিছু উপহার দিতে পারে তার জন্যই হিডকোর পক্ষ থেকে ওই ব্যাবস্থাপনা করা হয়েছে।

নিউটাউনকে যেভাবে সাজিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে তাতে যে কোনও আন্তর্জাতিক মানের ভ্রমণস্থলের সঙ্গে পাশাপাশি জায়গা পায় ওই নিউটাউন। সেখানে লন্ডনের মাদাম তুসোর আদলে তৈরি মাদার্স ওয়াক্স মিউজিয়াম বর্তমান দিনে যে কোনও মানুষের কাছেই একটা বড় পাওনা। তাই সেই জায়গাকে যারা এতদিন পর্যন্ত চোখের দেখা দেখে উঠতে পারেননি তাঁদের কাছে এবার একটা বড় সুযোগ গড়ে দিল হিডকো কর্তৃপক্ষ।
