Loans taken for MSMEs – Bengal leads among States

It is a well-known fact that Bengal has one of the most successful policies regarding the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSM) sector. As a result of the Trinamool Congress Government’s comprehensive policy, small-scale enterprises are thriving in the State.

The success of the State’s MSME sector has been acknowledged by the Central Government earlier too. Now, another report has done the same.

The total amount of loans extended to medium enterprises in Bengal during the 2015-16 fiscal was Rs 2,659 crore, which increased to Rs 5,851 crore during the 2016-17 fiscal. The number of people the loans were extended to were 1,25,457 and 4,36,208, respectively.

The Central Government’s scheme for MSMEs is divided into three categories, according to the amount of loan extended. From the lowest to the highest, the categories are Shishu, Kishore and Tarun for loans upto Rs 50,000, upto Rs 5 lakh and upto Rs 10 lakh, respectively.

Under the Shishu category, for the last few years, Bengal has been coming second. Under the Kishore category, during the 2015-16 fiscal, loans worth Rs 2,377 crore to 1,18,927 people. During the 2016-17 fiscal, the number loan-takers increased by 105 per cent, which increased to 348 per cent of the new number during the 2017-18 fiscal.

These numbers how that under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, MSMEs are headed for a brighter future.

Kurukh, Kamtapuri, Rajbongshi, Kurmali get official language status

At the time when the Trinamool Congress Government has taken up different steps for the revival of endangered tribal languages, comes another welcome step.

With the Governor consenting to the West Bengal Official Language (Second Amendment) Bill, 2018, Kamtapuri, Rajbongshi and Kurmali have become formally accepted as official State languages. Earlier, Kurukh had achieved the status through the West Bengal Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2018.

The State Assembly had passed the former Bill on February 28 and the latter on February 8 of this year.

These languages would be used as official languages in the districts, sub-divisions, blocks or municipalities where the speaking population exceeds 10 per cent as a whole or part of the district, like sub-division or block.

It may be mentioned that Kurukh is spoken by the Oraon tribal community. There are around 17 lakh people, who speak the language in the districts of Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, South Dinajpur and North 24-Parganas.

Distribution of land pattas

The Trinamool Congress Government has ensured land-related benefits for the needy citizens of the state through various schemes.

Through the Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi Scheme, the Trinamool Congress Government has distributed land pattas to 3.35 lakh landless and marginalised farmers.

Three types of pattas are included here – pattas for construction of houses, pattas for agricultural land and pattas for jungle plots.

The government has also decided to combine Nijo Griha Nijo Bhumi with the other developmental schemes so that more benefits can be extended to the common people. Already 21,120 people have received various benefits in this manner; benefits would be extended to many more in due course.

 

পাট্টা বিতরণ

 

এই সরকার সর্বত্র চেষ্টা করে যে ভূমিহীন ও প্রান্তিক চাষীদের মধ্যে ন্যায়সঙ্গত পাট্টা বিতরন করা হয় এবং এই ক্ষেত্রে ‘নিজ গৃহ, নিজ ভূমি’ প্রকল্প একটি বিশেষ উল্লেখ দাবী করে। মোট ৩.৩৫ লাখ মানুষ এই প্রকল্প দ্বারা পাট্টা পেয়েছেন, যার মধ্যে আছে বাড়ী বানানোর জমির পাট্টা, কৃষি জমির পাট্টা এবং জঙ্গলের জমির পাট্টা।

সাম্প্রতিক কালে সরকারের নজরে আছে যাতে এই ‘নিজ গৃহ, নিজ ভূমি’ প্রকল্পের সাথে অন্যান্য উন্নয়নমূলক প্রকল্পের মিল ঘটিয়ে সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে আরও সুবিধা পৌছে দেওয়া যেতে পারে। ইতিমধ্যেই ২১,১২০ জন এই রকম উন্নয়নমূলক প্রকল্পের সুযোগ পেয়েছেন এবং খুব শীঘ্রই বাকীরাও বঞ্চিত থাকবেন না।
