The State Government will be running around 600 more buses than last year for the Gangasagar Mela. The number of buses run last time was 1,610. The West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC) will also run 18 vessels, up from 16 last year. All the buses and vessels will be fitted with GPS so that they can be tracked.

Lakhs of people from across India visit Sagar Island take a holy dip at the place where the water of the Ganga merges with the sea.

The special bus services will be run from January 11 to 17. The WBTC will run 1,300 buses on the days of the fair. South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) will run 900 buses. Therefore, the two together will run 2,200 buses.

The highest number of buses will be run on January 14 and 15, the days of the holy bath – 502 and 531, respectively. The buses will start from Dharmatala, Babughat and Howrah.

The Transport Department will also appoint 80 Jalasathis – trained personnel stationed at jetties – specially for Gangasagar Mela. They will be provided with special jackets, fog lights and whistles. Forty motor vehicles inspectors (technical) will be stationed at various places in and around the fair.

The State Government will also open special control rooms in Kolkata, Diamond Harbour, Alipore and a few other places.

The State Government has decided that, like in Volvo buses, all buses in the State need to install big rear view mirrors at the front. This would ensure that drivers have a clear view of the vehicles coming from the rear.

The rule would first be imposed on buses in Kolkata, according to the city’s police commissioner at a conference on road safety organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The Transport Department and the State Police would ensure that the mirrors are fitted within a stipulated time limit.

Listening to the voice of the people, the Trinamool Congress Government has taken a decision to limit the amount by which app cabs can increase their fares during periods of high demand.

Surge fares, as it is called, can only go up to a level of 45 per cent of the base, or minimum, fares. This will apply for all app cab companies. Usually, the fares go up when the demand for cabs is more and the supply is less.

This and other crucial decisions were made after a meeting between the State Transport Minister and representatives of app cab companies on July 4.

The basic fares of the app cab services have to be announced so that the Transport Department is aware of them and people also come to know the base fare that they have to pay to avail the cabs. The app cab operators have to give a report containing details of the fare slabs to the Transport Department.

There will be no surge pricing during office hours on weekdays, hence higher fares cannot be charged for the 12 hours from 8am to 8pm.

Another decision made was that a portion of the surge fare has to be given to drivers. There will also be a review meeting after every three months.

Earlier, the app cab operators had been directed by the Transport Department to take a certain measures to ensure the safety and security of passengers.

After developing the transport infrastructure in Bengal in a massive way with the introduction of new buses and new routes, the Transport Department has decided to bring in another measure to further improve things.

It has appointed the PSU, RITES for conducting a route optimisation study for Kolkata. Through this, it will be determined how many buses need to run on each of the routes and at what times to serve the maximum number of passengers.

The study is currently undergoing. It would cover the recently introduced night bus services as well.

The Pathadisha app has already brought in a lot of change. People can now know the exact locations of many buses and hence determine how long to wait. The night bus service is another well-thought out idea.

With the results of this study, which is being conducted, a scientific route structure can be mapped out, something followed in many advanced countries.

The State Government has started a river safety training programme for Jalasathis – the rescue personnel who will be deployed at jetties to avert accidents. The training programme is being organised by the Transport Department, and is taking place Police Training College (PTC) in Barrackpore.
At present, 100 of them are undergoing training at the PTC. A total of 626 Jalasathis have been engaged and they will all be undergoing training at the PTC.
The main task of the Jalasathis is ensuring that the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) deployed by the government at the jetties in the state is followed.
Besides keeping a tab to check overloading of vessels, they have to take necessary steps to save people in the case of any emergency. At the same time, they also have to ensure that all passengers put on safety jackets before getting on to a vessel. They would also have to inform the concerned authorities in case the area is not properly illuminated or if there is lack of any infrastructure.
It may be mentioned that the engagement of Jalasathis, two of whom are being deployed in each jetty, is running parallel to the implementation of the comprehensive Jaladhara Scheme, under which semi-mechanised vessels are being replaced by fully mechanised ones with up-to-date design made by experts. All such vessels have to be mandatorily registered with the State Transport Department.
The jetties where Jalasathis will be initially deployed include 28 in Hooghly district, 60 in North 24 Parganas district, 16 in Howrah district, 12 in South 24 Parganas and 11 jetties which are maintained by the West Bengal Transport Corporation.

জলসাথীদের প্রশিক্ষণ দিচ্ছে রাজ্য

নদীপথে যাতায়াত করার সময় কোনও দুর্ঘটনা ঘটলে উদ্ধারকাজে সাহায্য করা থেকে শুরু করে, জলপথ নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে রাজ্য সরকার মোতায়েন করছে জলসাথী। এবার তাদের প্রশিক্ষণ প্রক্রিয়া চালু করলো রাজ্য। পরিবহন দপ্তর আয়োজিত এই প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে ব্যারাকপুরের পুলিশ প্রশিক্ষণ কলেজে।
এই মুহূর্তে ১০০ জনকে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। মোট ৬২৬জন জলসাথীকে এই প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে। প্রতি জেটিতে দুজন করে জলসাথী মোতায়েন করা হয়েছে। রাজ্য পরিবহন দপ্তর পরিচালিত হুগলী জেলার ২৮টি, উত্তর ২৪ পরগণা জেলার ৬০টি, হাওড়া জেলার ১৬টি, দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগণার ১২টি জেটিতে জলসাথী মোতায়েন করা হবে।
জলসাথীদের প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য হল জলপথে যাত্রার সময় নিরাপত্তার জন্য যে নির্দেশিকা জারি করেছে রাজ্য সরকার সেটা যাতে পালন করা হয়, তা নজর রাখা।
জলযানগুলি যাতে অতিরিক্ত যাত্রী না তোলে এই ব্যাপারে নজর রাখা ছাড়াও, কোনও দুর্ঘটনা ঘটলে সঙ্গে সঙ্গে উদ্ধার কাজেও লেগে পড়বে এই জলসাথীরা। এর পাশাপাশি তারা নজর রাখবে সকল যাত্রী ভেসেলে ওঠার আগে যেন সেফটি জ্যাকেট পড়েন। তারা সেই অঞ্চলে যথাযথ পরিকাঠামো ও আলোর ব্যবস্থা আছে কি না খতিয়ে দেখবে, না থাকলে নির্দিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষকে তা জানাবে।
এর পাশাপাশি চালু হয়েছে জলধারা প্রকল্প। সেমি-মেকানাইজড জলযানগুলিকে বাতিল করে সম্পূর্ণ যান্ত্রিক, অত্যাধুনিক ও অধিক ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন জলযান নামানো হচ্ছে। এবং এই সকল ভেসেলকে রাজ্য পরিবহন দপ্তরে নথিভুক্ত করা বাধ্যতামূলক করা হয়েছে।

The Bengal Transport Department’s branding of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup had caught everyone’s eyes, and became very successful. On all the buses the department had designated for ferrying the fans and players, was written ‘Ebar Khela Jombe Bangla’.

Now the department is planning similar branding for two of the most popular annual events that Bengal hosts – Ganga Sagar Mela and the Kolkata International Book Fair (KIBF). What exactly is to be written would be decided later.

While the former will be held in January, with the main events scheduled on January 14 and 15, on Sagar Island in the Sundarbans, the latter will be held from January 30 to February 11 at Central Park in Salt Lake (because the usual venue, the Milan Mela fairground, is being renovated).

The branding would appear on the buses (from Esplanade, Babughat and Howrah) and the 30 vessels (16 belonging to West Bengal Transport Corporation and 14 to Hooghly River Transport Corporation) to be designated for the Ganga Sagar Fair, and on the buses (both AC and non-AC) to be designated specially for ferrying people to and from the Book Fair.

বইমেলা ও গঙ্গাসাগর মেলাকে ব্র্যান্ডিং করার ভাবনা রাজ্যের

 

আন্তর্জাতিক কলকাতা বইমেলা ও গঙ্গাসাগর মেলাকে সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে আকর্ষণীয় করতে এবার এই দুই উৎসবকে ব্র্যান্ডিং করার পরিকল্পনা রাজ্যের। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগমের সরকারি বাসে ব্র্যান্ডিং করা হবে।

দেশ বিদেশের বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত নানা মানুষ আসেন এই মেলায়। তাদের কাছে রাজ্যের মান বাড়াতেই এই পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে। মেলা প্রাঙ্গনে যাওয়ার জন্য রাখা হচ্ছে বিশেষ শাটল বাস পরিষেবা। এসি নন এসি সব রকম বাসই থাকছে। বাসের গায়ে বইমেলার ব্র্যান্ডিং করা থাকবে।

একই ভাবনা গঙ্গাসাগর মেলা উপলক্ষেও। এই বাসের গায়েও ব্র্যান্ডিং এর পরিকল্পনা রাজ্যের। বাংলা হিন্দি ও ইংরেজি তিন ভাষাতেই এই ব্র্যান্ডিং থাকবে যাতে সব রকম মানুষের বুঝতে সুবিধা হয়।

ধর্মতলা, বাবুঘাট এবং হাওড়া থেকে ছাড়বে গঙ্গাসাগর যাওয়ার বাস, যাবে লট এইট পর্যন্ত। সেখান থেকে তীর্থযাত্রীদের পৌঁছে দেওয়ার জন্য থাকবে ভেসেলের ব্যবস্থা। এবার মেলা উপলক্ষে ৩০ টি ভেসেল রাখা হচ্ছে।

The State Transport Department has decided to overhaul the bus connectivity in Jangalmahal. This is the latest of the many services that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has brought to the region, as a result of which the people of the region are in a much better state than during the Left Front years. She even created the district of Jhargram to better target developmental work.

Jhargram, Silda, Belpahari, Nayagram, Binpur, Jamboni, Jhalda, Baghmundi and Balarampur will be part of the new service structure. The first six places are in Jhargram district while the other three are in Purulia district. The Transport Department will spend Rs 12 crore to overhaul the structure.

New bus routes will be opened from Esplanade to Jamboni, Silda, Belpahari, Baghmundi, Jhalda and Balarampur.

A new bus terminus will come up near Jhargram town, and new bus services will be introduced between it and various places in the Jangalmahal region, and also Kolkata. A night shelter will also come up at this bus stand. After being made the district headquarters of Jhargram district, the place has become a very busy one. New bus terminuses will come up in Silda, Belpahari and Nayagram.

Besides for benefitting the regional populace, these new services are also aimed at enabling more tourist activities. In recent years, the State Government has been developing the region into a major tourist hub. The mostly forested Jangalmahal has a lot of tourist potential, and an effective transport system is a must for tourism to flourish. The government has constructed many guest houses and bungalows, and has modernised many of the guest houses belonging to the Forest Department. Home stay tourism is another area that the State Government has been laying a lot of stress on.

জঙ্গলমহলে পরিবহন ব্যবস্থা ঢেলে সাজাবে রাজ্য

জঙ্গলমহলে যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা ঢেলে সাজানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য পরিবহন দপ্তর। এই অঞ্চলের উন্নয়নের জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের নেতৃত্বাধীন রাজ্য সরকার ইতিমধ্যেই নানা পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করেছে। এর ফলে এই অঞ্চলের মানুষ বাম আমলের তুলনায় এখন অনেক ভালো আছেন। ঝাড়গ্রামকে পৃথক জেলা ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে উন্নয়নকে আরও ত্বরান্বিত করতে।

ঝাড়গ্রাম, শিলদা, বেলপাহাড়ি, নয়াগ্রাম, বিনপুর, জাম্বনী, ঝালদা, বাঘমুন্ডি ও বলরামপুর এলাকায় যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার উন্নয়ন করবে পরিবহন দপ্তর। প্রথম ছটি জায়গা ঝাড়গ্রামে বাকি তিনটি জায়গা পুরুলিয়াতে। পরিকাঠামো তৈরীতে খরচ হবে ১২কোটি টাকা।
এসপ্ল্যানেড থেকে জাম্বনী, শিলদা, বেলপাহাড়ি, ঝালদা, বাঘমুন্ডি, বলরামপুর অবধি নতুন বাস রুট শুরু হবে।

ঝাড়গ্রাম টাউনের কাছে তৈরী হবে নতুন বাস টার্মিনাস। এই টার্মিনাস থেকে জঙ্গলমহলের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে ও কলকাতায় বাস চালু করা হবে। এই টার্মিনাসে একটি নাইট শেল্টারও তৈরী করা হবে। শিলদা, বেলপাহাড়ি, নয়াগ্রামেও নতুন বাস টার্মিনাস তৈরী হবে।

স্থানীয় মানুষদের যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থার উন্নয়নের পাশাপাশি এই নতুন সার্ভিসের ফলে এই অঞ্চলে পর্যটনেরও প্রসার হবে। গত কয়েক বছরে রাজ্য সরকার এই অঞ্চলটিকে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পর্যটন হাব হিসেবে তৈরী করছে। ঘন জঙ্গলে ভরা জঙ্গলমহলে পর্যটনের বিপুল সম্ভাবনা আছে। এই নতুন বাস পরিষেবা নিঃসন্দেহে পর্যটন শিল্পকে আরও সাহায্য করবে।

In order to create more job opportunities, it has been decided in Monday’s Cabinet meeting that 1,200 new posts will be made in different departments of the state government.

Partha Chatterjee, the state Parliamentary Affairs minister, said: “It has been passed in the Cabinet to create a 1,000 more posts in different offices and colleges. As many as 200 drivers and helpers will be recruited for assistance by the state Transport department.”

It may be mentioned that the state government has created thousands of job opportunities in the past six years. In June, the state government had announced 3,754 new posts. The decision to create new posts was passed in the Cabinet meeting and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has directed the state to complete the recruitment process as soon as possible.

As many as 267 posts were created for eight coastal police stations as a step to ensure security and safety of thousands of tourists visiting Digha and Mandarmoni. Around 444 posts were also created at Health and Family Welfare department and it included 187 posts at the new medical college at Raiganj.

As many as 158 posts have been created at Ramrick Das Harlalka Hospital, which is an annexure to Bangur Institute of Neuroscience. Ninety-nine posts were created at Tufanganj Mental Health Hospital, where the number of beds was increased to 150 from 33. To create job opportunities for women, as many as 2700 lady constable posts were created.

 

১২০০ নতুন পদ তৈরী করবে রাজ্য সরকার

রাজ্যে আরও কর্মসংস্থান তৈরীর লক্ষ্যে ১২০০ নতুন পদ তৈরী করছে রাজ্য সরকার।

পরিষদ বিষয়ক মন্ত্রী পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায় বলেন, বিভিন্ন কলেজ ও অফিসে আরও নতুন ১০০০টি পদ তৈরীর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে মন্ত্রিসভা। এছাড়া আরও ২০০টি ড্রাইভার ও হেল্পারের পদ তৈরী করা হয়েছে রাজ্য পরিবহন দপ্তরে।

প্রসঙ্গত, রাজ্য সরকার গত জুন মাসে ৩৭৫৪টি নতুন পদ সৃষ্টির কথা ঘোষণা করে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন ওই প্রক্রিয়া খুব তাড়াতাড়ি সম্পন্ন করতে।

দীঘা ও মন্দারমণিতে আগত পর্যটকদের সুরক্ষার জন্য ২৬৭টি পদ সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে আটটি উপকূলীয় থানার জন্য। স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ দপ্তরে ৪৪৪টি পদ তৈরী হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে রায়গঞ্জের নতুন মেডিক্যাল কলেজের জন্য ১৮৭টি পদ তৈরী হয়েছে।

রামরিক দাস হরলালকা হাসপাতালে সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে ১৫৮টি নতুন পদ। তুফানগঞ্জ মেন্টাল হেলথ হাসপাতালে ৯৯টি পদ তৈরী হয়েছে। এখানে শয্যা সংখ্যাও ৩৩ থেকে বেড়ে ১৫০ হয়েছে।

মহিলাদের কর্মসংস্থানকে নজর রেখে ২৭০০টি কনস্টেবল পদ তৈরী হয়েছে।

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated people from different walks of life, from administration to police as well as the spectators for making the recently concluded Under-17 World Cup tournament a grand success.

She tweeted on Monday: “Kolkata achieves a unique position in the U-17 World Cup. Out of 13 lakh 47 thousand spectators in India who watched the U-17 matches in all the venues, Kolkata is the highest with 6 lakh 8 thousand watching it at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. This is more than 45% of the total spectator count. Next highest is Delhi with 19.78%. The per match spectator average in India is 25,906, while in Kolkata it is 55, 345- more than double. It is all about our passion for football and the excellent arrangements at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan. My best wishes to all.”

It may be mentioned that FIFA officials who had visited Kolkata had praised the stadium and the infrastructure. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took a personal interest and held a series of meetings with senior officials of different departments to make the U-17 World Cup a grand success.

Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) had kept the area outside the stadium clean. The roadside gardens were decorated and roads were brightly illuminated. The police along with BMC specified the areas where the spectators could park their vehicles.
State Transport department deployed special buses to ferry the spectators to the venue from the districts as well as from different important points in the city. After the matches were over, the department provided buses so that the spectators coming from the district could return home safely.

There was heavy deployment of policemen outside the stadium and after the matches ended after 10 pm, the police guided the spectators to the respective areas from where the state-run buses left for different areas.

Coordination among various government departments coupled with Mamata Banerjee’s constant monitoring had made the event a grand success.

বিষয়টা যখন খেলা, বিশেষত ফুটবল, তখন তা নিয়ে আবেগের বিচারে সারা দেশের মধ্যে কলকাতার অবস্থান অনবদ্য, এক নম্বরে। যুব বিশ্বকাপ উপলক্ষে সেই কথাটা আরও একবার প্রমাণ হল।

সোমবার ফেসবুক পোস্টে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় জানিয়েছেন, অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপে দেশের মধ্যে কলকাতায় সবচেয়ে বেশি দর্শক মাঠে এসেছেন। গোটা ভারতের বিভিন্ন স্টেডিয়ামে প্রায় ১৩ লক্ষ ৪৭ হাজার দর্শক মাঠে এসেছিলেন। কিন্তু, শুধুমাত্র কলকাতায় এসেছিলেন ৬ লক্ষ ৮ হাজার দর্শক। যা মোট দর্শকের প্রায় ৪৫ শতাংশ। এরপরই রয়েছে দিল্লির স্থান। দিল্লিতে মোট দর্শকের ১৯.৭৮ শতাংশ মাঠে এসেছিলেন। এছাড়াও প্রতিটি ম্যাচে গোটা দেশে গড়ে যেখানে ২৫ হাজার ৯০৬ জন দর্শক মাঠে এসেছিলেন, সেখানে কলকাতায় প্রতিটি ম্যাচে গড়ে ৫৫ হাজার ৩৪৫ জন দর্শক মাঠে এসেছেন। অর্থাৎ, দ্বিগুণেরও বেশি।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেছেন, ফুটবলের প্রতি আমাদের আবেগ এবং যুবভারতী ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের সুষ্ঠু ব্যবস্থাপনার জন্যই এটা সম্ভবপর হয়েছে। এজন্য সংশ্লিষ্ট সকলকে অভিনন্দন জানিয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

পরিবহণ দপ্তর সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, অন্যান্য খেলার দিন গড়ে ৬০০ বাস চালানো হলেও ফাইনালের জন্য ৭০০-র বেশি বাস রাস্তায় নামানো হয়েছিল। শুধু মিলনমেলা-উল্টোডাঙা বা করুণাময়ী-উল্টোডাঙা রুটে নয়, বারাসত, জোকা, বেহালা, দমদম, ডানলপসহ শহরতলির বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে দর্শকদের মাঠে এনেছে সরকারি বাস। একই সঙ্গে প্রতিটি বাসের লোকেশন ‘পথদিশা’ অ্যাপে দেওয়ায় যাত্রীদের সুবিধা হয়েছে বলেই অনেকে মনে করছেন।

The State Transport Department is taking steps to runs buses all through the night in Kolkata. Thus, like in New York, London or Washington DC, there would soon be 24-hour availability of bus service across the city, which would be an impressive feat indeed.

During the Durga Puja as well as during the Indian Premier league (IPL) match days, the State Government had run bus services late into the night, which was highly appreciated by the public.

Initially, the government would run the services from the airport, Howrah Station, Esplanade and a few other busy areas. The services would started immediately after the completion of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

২৪ঘণ্টা সচল থাকবে শহর। নিউইয়র্ক, লন্ডন, ওয়াশিংটনের মতো এবার সারা রাত বাস চলবে তিলোত্তমায়। রাজ্য সরকারের তৎপরতায় সারা রাত বাস পরিষেবা সাধারণ মানুষকে স্বস্তি দেবে। পরিবহণ মন্ত্রী শুভেন্দু অধিকারী জানিয়েছেন, রাতে বাস পরিষেবা দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা নেওয়া হয়েছে। ইতিমধ্যেই অনেকটা কাজ এগিয়ে গিয়েছে। আগামী দিনে সাধারন মানুষের সুবিধার্থে রাতে বাস পরিষেবাকে গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে। পুজোর সময়, কলকাতায় আইপিএল চলাকালীন রাতে বাস পরিষেবা চালু রাখে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর।

শুধু কোনও উৎসব, অনুষ্ঠান নয়, সারা বছর যাতে এই বাস পরিষেবা চালু রাখা যায়, তারই প্রচেষ্টা শুরু করতে চলেছে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর। তবে এই মুহূর্তে এয়ারপোর্ট, হাওড়া, ধর্মতলা সহ শহরের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ জায়গাগুলি থেকে সরকারি বাস পরিষেবা দেওয়া হবে। রাতের ট্রেনে বা বিমানে যারা কলকাতায় আসছেন তাঁদের যাতায়াতের ক্ষেত্রে কোনও সমস্যায় না পড়তে হয় তার জন্যই সারা রাত ধরে বাস পরিষেবা দেওয়ার ভাবনা। আসন্ন যুব বিশ্বকাপের পরেই রাতে বাস পরিষেবা চালু করার পরিকল্পনা নিয়েছে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর।
