To ensure better connectivity between different points in tourist spots, the Bengal  Transport department has decided to introduce a set of new buses in Darjeeling, Dooars and Murshidabad.

Suvendu Adhjikari, the state Transport minister, said in the Assembly: “Decision has been taken to buy a total number of 270 buses. Out of these buses, eight will be plying in Darjeeling and four each in Dooars and Murshidabad.”

The 270 buses will be operated by the West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC), South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) and North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC). The 270 buses include air-conditioned mini-buses, air-conditioned deluxe buses, 10 CNG buses and four electric buses. Mainly mini-buses that can easily ply on the hilly terrain will be bought for Darjeeling.

Thousands of people visit the places round the year and with several steps taken by the state government in the past six years, these locations have become immensely popular among people from different states and even abroad. The footfall has increased in all the these places and at the same time, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken different measures to ensure an overall development of the Hills.

Thus, beside tourists, common people of the area will also be immensely benefitted with the decision to introduce the additional fleet of buses. It may be mentioned that most of the buses will be having all modern arrangements to avoid any untoward incident in the bus. There will be panic button using which a passenger can alert policemen or concerned authorities if he or she falls in any untoward situation while travelling or if there is any emergency situation in the bus. There will also be CCTV cameras inside the buses. Notably, the buses will be GPS-enabled. Thus tracking of the realtime location of the buses will be an added advantage.

 

পর্যটন কেন্দ্রগুলির জন্য চালু হবে আরও ২৭০ টি নতুন বাস

যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা আরও উন্নত করার জন্য বিভিন্ন পর্যটন কেন্দ্র যেমন দার্জিলিং, ডুয়ার্স ও মুর্শিদাবাদের জন্য বেশ কিছু নতুন বাস নামানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর।

বুধবার বিধানসভায় পরিবহণ মন্ত্রী জানান, সব মিলিয়ে ২৭০ টি নতুন বাস চালু হবে। এর মধ্যে ৮ টি বাস চলবে দার্জিলিং-এ, ৪টি ডুয়ার্স ও ৪টি মুর্শিদাবাদে চালানো হবে।

২৭০ টি বাসের মধ্যে বেশ কয়েকটি শীততাপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত মিনি বাস, শীততাপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত ডিলাক্স বাস ও ১০ টি CNG বাস এবং ৪ টি ইলেকট্রিক বাস রয়েছে। পাহাড়ি এলাকায় মিনি বাস সহজেই চলাচল করতে পারে।

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ক্ষমতায় আসার পর পাহাড়ের অনেক উন্নয়নমূলক প্রকল্প নিয়েছেন এর ফলে পর্যটকদের সংখ্যাও বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। শুরু থেকেই পাহাড়ের সার্বিক উন্নয়নের ওপর জোর দিয়েছে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় পরিচালিত সরকার। এই নতুন সিদ্ধান্তের ফলে পর্যটকদের পাশাপাশি এলাকার সাধারণ মানুষও অনেক উপকৃত হবেন।

উল্লেখ্য, দুর্ঘটনা এড়ানোর জন্য বাসগুলির আধুনিকিকরণও করা হয়েছে। যাত্রীদের সুরক্ষার জন্য একটা করে প্যানিক বাটন থাকবে। সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরাও থাকবে বাসগুলিতে। বাসগুলিতে জিপিএস ও বসানো হবে।

The West Bengal government has written to the Centre urging to expedite the process required to change the name of the state as passed in the Assembly on August 29, 2016.

It may be recalled that the West Bengal Legislative Assembly had passed the resolution of renaming the state as “Bangla” in Bengali and “Bengal” in English in the special session that was held on August 29.

A letter has been sent to the Centre requesting it to do the necessary as early as possible. The decision of the House in passing the resolution to change the name of the state will immensely benefit lakhs of students and people from all walks of life in coming days.

রাজ্যের নাম বদলের প্রক্রিয়াকে ত্বরান্বিত করতে কেন্দ্রকে চিঠি দিল রাজ্য সরকার। গতবছর ২৯শে অগস্ট বিধানসভায় রাজ্যের নতুন নামকরনের সিদ্ধান্ত পাশ হয়। বাংলায় নতুন নাম হবে “বাংলা”, ইংরাজি ভাষায় “Bengal” এবং হিন্দিতে ‘বাঙ্গাল’।

রাজ্য সরকারের পক্ষ থেকে কেন্দ্রকে অনুরোধ জানানো হয়েছে এই প্রক্রিয়া তাড়াতাড়ি সম্পন্ন করার জন্য যাবতীয় পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করতে।

এই সিদ্ধান্তটি সংসদে গৃহীত হলে লক্ষ লক্ষ পড়ুয়া ও সর্বস্তরের মানুষ উপকৃত হবেন। রাজ্যের জনগণ ও ছাত্রছাত্রীরা রাজ্যের নতুন নামকে স্বাগত জানিয়েছে।

West Bengal leads in small savings in the country. And this is excluding PPF, Senior Savings Scheme and other similar schemes.

The post office small savings schemes, supported by the State Government, have got such a good response that even the Central Government has congratulated the State. Over the last three years, the amount saved through post office small savings schemes has been increasing steadily – in 2012-13 it was Rs 24,640 crore, in 2013-14 it was Rs 25,448 crore and in 2014-15, it was Rs 31,804 crore.

In the current financial year (2015-16), even till November, the amount is Rs 29,731 crore 335 lakh, which is better than last year’s year-on-year amount. The post office authorities are extremely happy that their savings schemes are reaping such profits.

 

স্বল্প সঞ্চয়ে দেশের মধ্যে এগিয়ে পশ্চিমবাংলা

স্বল্প সঞ্চয়ে দেশের সব রাজ্যকে পিছনে ফেলে এগিয়ে বাংলা। পিপিএফ, সিনিয়ার সেভিংস স্কিম ও অন্যান্য ব্যাঙ্কের জমার হিসেব না ধরেই শীর্ষে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ।

ডাক বিভাগের বিভিন্ন স্বল্প সঞ্চয় প্রকল্প এতটাই ভাল সাড়া পেয়েছে যে কেন্দ্রের তরফেও তার প্রশংসা করা হয়েছে। ২০১২-১৩ অর্থবর্ষে ২৪৬৪০ কোটি, ২০১৩-১৪ অর্থবর্ষে ২৫৪৪৮ কোটি এবং ২০১৪-১৫ অর্থবর্ষে বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পে জমা পড়েছে ৩১৮০৪ কোটি টাকা।

চলতি আর্থিক বছরে (২০১৫-১৬) নভেম্বর মাস পর্যন্ত পশ্চিমবঙ্গের লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ২৯,৭৩১ কোটি ৩৩৫ লক্ষ। আগের বছরগুলিতে যা জমা পড়েছে এবার মাত্র আট মাসের ট্রেণ্ড তার চেয়ে অনেক ভালো। ডাকঘর কর্তৃপক্ষ তাদের এই স্বল্প সঞ্চয় প্রকল্প এত ভাল সাড়া পাওয়ায় তারা খুব খুশি।

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Sunday said the administration was prepared to cope with any situation arising due to heavy rains which are predicted in the state in the next 48 hours.

“Already some parts of North 24 Parganas district are waterlogged due to rains yesterday but the administration is working round the clock with the local civic bodies. In the event of further heavy rainfall we are alert to cope with the situation,” the Chief Minister said.

She said the situation will be monitored during her visit abroad and prompt decision will be taken as and when required.Intermittent rains hit the city and different parts of West Bengal in last 24 hours causing water-logging.

Warning has been issued for fisherman going to the sea.

The West Bengal Government has decided to bring the brick kilns under strict regulation. In a high level meeting held at Nabanna it was decided these kilns should be made at a safe distance from railway tracks and roads.

Keeping in line with environmental issues, trees have to be planted around brick kilns, and to build new kilns clearance has to be taken from agriculture, irrigation and environmental ministries of the State. The regulation is being adopted to also put a check on soil and river bank erosion.

The Government has also decided to guide the farmers around brick kilns with the kind of crops which will grow best in their areas. Restrictions of unauthorised brick kilns is the first step towards implementation of these regulations.

 

Peaceful polling in the Bengal bypolls

Bypolls for Bongaon Parliamentary Constituency and Krishnaganj Assembly Constituency were held today at Bongaon and Krishnaganj. The poll lasted from 8 AM to 5 PM today. The Bongaon seat had fallen vacant due to the death of Kapil Krishna Thakur and Krishnaganj seat was vacant due to the demise of Sushil Biswas.

 

The Trinamool candidates for the constituencies were:

Bongaon – Mamatabala Thakur

Krishnaganj – Satyajit Biswas

The polling percentage in the four constituencies till 5 p.m. was as follows:

Bongaon – 73%

Krishnaganj – 78%

AITC Secretary General Partha Chatterjee met the press after the polling. He said:

We thank the voters of Krishnaganj and Bongaon for their enthusiasm: Partha Chatterjee addressing a press conference. Despite the smear campaign and propaganda by the Opposition, today’s polls were peaceful. Opposition has realised that people have reposed their faith on Mamata Banerjee’s developmental agenda. Opposition has comprehended TMC will win. So they are making false claims now. People will support Mamata Banerjee’s agenda of development, peace and prosperity. 78% turnout in Krishnaganj and 73% polling in Bongaon so far. We congratulate people. We thank the voters of Bongaon and Krishnaganj.

The West Bengal Government has successfully launched a Micro Business Credit Card, the first of its kind in India, to facilitate small and medium business entrepreneurs of the State.

Entrepreneurs will now be able to avail cash credit or loan up to Rs 5 lakh for their business activities, even without collateral security. The State Bank of India has extended support to the Government of West Bengal in this venture.

A fund of Rs 200 crore has been set up for facilitation in Bardhaman, Durgapur, Asansol and other places to speed up the clearance process for the business credit cards.
