Mati Utsav, an initiative of West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee, set to take off from today, January 19 and will continue till January 25. The Chief Minister inaugurated it.

Every year, this festival was being held at the Lalbaba Ashram ground in Panagarh in Bardhaman district. This year a permanent venue called Mati Tirtha, near Kalna Road, has been readied. Already, this new festival ground has become a place of attraction for local residents who are coming in large numbers.

The State Agriculture Marketing Department readied the newly-constructed permanent venue. The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of ‘Lyangcha Tirtha,’ a manufacturing and marketing hub for the famous local sweets of Bardhaman district – lyangcha, mihidana and sitabhog.

 

The salient points of the speech she gave at the inauguration of Mati Utsav are as follows:

• I welcome everyone on this joyous occasion. I am happy to see my folk artists perform here.

• Mati Tirtha symbolises the rural culture. Farmers can now get guidance from here.

• There is also a small hut here where I will come and stay when I want to stay close to my beloved Mati.

• This soil is our dharma bhoomi, karma bhoomi, pitri bhoomi, matri bhoomi.

• We started Mati Utsav is 2012. The United Nations declared 2015 as the International Year of the Soil. Bengal shows the way for the world.

• It is our land that has made us who we are today. We must celebrate this rich heritage of our land.

• I love greenery. I love environment. I love nature. We must promote agriculture and animal husbandry.

• 341 Krishi Ratnas have been given out today, as part of Krishi Samman. We observe Krishi Diwas on Nandigram Diwas.

• We have allocated Rs 450 crore for a new agricultural project.

• Mati Tirtha has been developed keeping in mind farmers, artists and the local people.

• In Bardhaman, superspeciality hospitals are coming up in Asansol and Kalna.

• A medical hub is coming up in Asansol.

• An industrial park is coming up in Panagarh.

• A Greenfield airport has already come up in Andal. It will give a major boost to the development of the area.

• We have allocated Rs 400 crore for electrification of rural Bengal.

• We have allocated Rs 262 crore for further improving the power infrastructure.

• We have inaugurated nine Karma Tirthas (marketing hubs) in Bardhaman district at a cost of Rs 243 crore.

• Seven more Karma Tirthas have been inaugurated today.

• 12 mini-stadiums will come up in Bardhaman district.

• A hub for the manufacturing and marketing of lyangcha, sitabhog and mihidana, called Lyangcha Tirtha, is also coming up here. These delicacies will be marketed under the Biswa Bangla brand.

• We have taken initiatives for boosting the muslin industry. 50 Muslin artisans are being specially trained by the State Government.

• We have provided government service to almost 8.5 crore people out of the eligible 9 crore in the State.

• 7.7 crore people would be provided foodgrains at a subsidised rate – rice at Rs 2 per kg per person and flour (atta) at the same rate – under the Khadya Sathi programme. Of these 7.59 crore are already getting these.

• 31 lakh girls have been registered under the Kanyashree Scheme.

• 40 lakh students are being given bicycles under the Sabuj Sathi Scheme – 25 lakh students of classes X to XII would be provided by February, and 15 lakh students of class IX would be provided from May to September.

• 16 lakh students have received scholarships under the Sikshashree scheme.

• 1.25 crore minority students have been given scholarships in the last 4 years, while during the 34-year CPI(M) rule, only 8 lakh were distributed.

• 1 lakh have benifitted under the Yuvashree Scheme.

• 50,000 folk artists have been registered under Lok Prasar Scheme.

• Karma Tirthas, Kisan Mandis, industrial training institutes (ITIs) – we have done so much for West Bengal.

• Our government has given 30% subsidy to self-help groups (SHGs). We have reduced the interest on loans for SHGs by 2%, and started insurance schemes for accidental deaths for SHG members.

• 42 lakh caste certificates have been given out in one month. It was very difficult to obtain the same under the previous government.

• The Agriculture Department will be in constant contact with the farmers, advising them and assisting them to better their farming practices.

• The Left Front government incurred huge debts and we are still paying back the Centre, a huge Rs 1 lakh crore per year.

• What was not done in 34 years has been done in four years by us despite of this financial crunch.

• A krishi viswavidyalaya (agricultural university) is coming up in Sadhanpur (in Bardhaman district).

• A polytechnic college has been set up in Memari.

• 200 schools in this district have been upgraded from secondary to higher secondary.

• 100% of the eligible recipients for Kisan credit cards (KCCs), digital ration cards and mid-day meals (MDMs) have been covered.

• Out of a target of 45 lakh metric tonnes of food grain procurement from farmers, we have already bought 14 lakh metric tonnes.

• Seven new fair price medicine shops, five new fair price diagnostic centres, 24 new SNCUs have come up in Bardhaman.

• 2.75 lakh acres of land have been brought under irrigation in the district. An area of 62,000 more acres will be brought under irrigation soon.

• 480 muslin artists have been brought under ‘Project Muslin’ in Bardhaman.

• An Asian Development Bank (ADB)-finance road project worth Rs 3200 crore will pass through Bardhaman.

• Another road will connect North Bengal to South Bengal.

• Mati is the biggest strength of my life.

• West Bengal has received Krishi Karman award from the Centre for the fourth year in a row.

• We are number one in India in small scale industries and skill development.

• We are number one in India in providing scholarships to minority-community students.

• We have provided reservation to 97% of the eligible communities.

• We have set up 13 universities and 45 Government colleges. Only 30 colleges were set up in Bengal from independence till 2011.

• We have set up 130 Kisan Bazaars, out of our target of 176.

• We will take up new work every new day that we get. Work waits for no one.

• We believe in people’s alliance and not in any unholy nexus or compromise.

• We have distributed compensation worth Rs 1100 crore for the flood-affected last year. The Centre did not pay a penny to us.

• The Centre stopped funds for the ICDS programme. We are paying the salaries of ASHA workers – Rs 1500 each per month. We have provided income-generation opportunities to the tune of Rs 6000-7000 for the ASHA workers. We will distribute bicycles to ASHA workers too.

• Our work should reflect our tolerant attitude.

• We believe in a political ideology that is not destructive but which believes in creation. We abhor parties that delight in skeletons and dead bodies.

• Who created 19 human rights courts and fast track courts? We did.

• More jobs will be created as more infrastructure is being created. We have given jobs to 67 lakh people in four years. Two lakh more would be provided.

• 70 police stations have been set up in the State, among which there are 26 women’s police stations and eight coastal police stations.

• Some people only spread hate and jealousy. Who stopped you from working in your 34-year rule?

• The days of load-shedding are over. The Left Front Government was called the government of power cuts. That is history now.

• People will laud Mamata Banerjee for the next 100 years for her work.

• Who stopped the Left Front from starting Krishak Ratna, Mati Tirtha, Lok Prasar or Karma Tirtha? Why are they complaining now?

• I thank the Indian Chamber of Commerce for their support and cooperation in organising this Mati Utsav.

• I have repeatedly visited districts. I do not believe in working from Nabanna. I want to take the Secretariat to the people.

• January 23 is the birthday of Netaji. It is a day of glory and pride for India. Netaji was the person who created the famous slogan, ‘Jai Hind.’

• Who stopped the Left Front Government from starting Mati Tirtha, Kanyashree, Shikshasree, Sabuj Sathi or Khadya Sathi?

• Bengal never loses. Bengal never bows her head.

• The logo of Sabuj Sathi represents the youth of Bengal who will achieve great success globally.

• Do not pay heed to those who play divisive politics. The heart cannot be divided. We are all one.

 

বর্ধমানে মাটি তীর্থের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগে এবছরও ১৯-২৫ শে জানুয়ারি মাটি উ९সব পালন করা হবে। মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এর উদ্বোধন করলেন।

প্রতি বছর এই অনুষ্ঠানটি হয় বর্ধমানের পানাগড়ে লালবাবা আশ্রমে। এবছর থেকে প্রতি বছর এই অনুষ্ঠানটি স্থায়ী ভাবে হবে কালনার কাছে ‘মাটি তীর্থ’ তে।  ইতিমধ্যেই এই নতুন উ९সবের স্থানটি খুব জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উঠেছে এবং স্থানীয় মানুষের সমাগম হচ্ছে।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ৬৭টি প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস করেছেন, যার বাজেট ৭৪৬ কোটি টাকা।

বর্ধমানের জনপ্রিয় মিষ্টি-মিহিদানা, ল্যাংচা ও সীতাভোগ প্রস্তুতি ও বিক্রয়কেন্দ্র ‘ল্যাংচা তীর্থ’ শিলান্যাস করলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

• এখানে ২ লক্ষ ৭৫ হাজার একর জমিতে সেচ ব্যবস্থা চালু করা হয়েছে, মে মাসের মধ্যে আরও ৬২ হাজার একর জমিতে চালু হবে

• ‘আশা’-র সকল ছেলেমেয়েদের আমরা সাইকেল প্রদান করব

• ৪ বছরে আমরা ৭০ টি পুলিশ স্টেশন তৈরি করেছি, এর মধ্যে ২৬ টি মহিলা পুলিশ স্টেশন

• “আগামী দিন আমাদের ছাত্র যৌবনের জন্যই”

• ৪১ টি মাল্টি সুপার হাসপাতাল তৈরি হয়েছে, ফেব্রুয়ারির মধ্যে আরও ১৬ টি হাসপাতাল তৈরি হবে

• গণমাধ্যমে কৃষি কথার আসর চালু করুন, সেখানে কৃষি সংক্রান্ত তথ্য ও পরামর্শ দিন
